Kraft+ It’s A Puzzle Challenge

Hi there and welcome to my blog today!

I am sharing my take on this month’s fun challenge over at Kraft+ – “It’s a puzzle” – include puzzle pieces on your kraft project!

I umm’ed and ahhh’d for quiet a while over this and then decided to use a cut file paired with the gorgeous Amy Tan “Better Together” 6×6 paper pad and this is what I came up with!

I knew which photo I wanted to use so went with the blues, greens and and a few pops of yellow from the collection knowing that I had that pop of red from the umbrella in our photo 🙂

A little bit of white gesso in the background so that my mixed media colours were seeable and off I went with the very trusty packaging technique. I used the butter and peacock Heidi Swapp colour shines mixed with some water for all of the colour in the background.

You can also see in the above picture that I sewed all around that heart – even through all the pieces in the middle – that was tricky!! – but I am super happy how it turned out!

After googling “puzzle quotes” I came up with my title “It’s always the small pieces that make the big picture” and love how it came out! Even though I did have to cheat a tiny bit to get a 3rd “E” 😀 I ended up sewing down those little black alphas using yellow thread.

I also pulled in some clear stickers my MAMBI in both black and white – there are the 2 arrows here and that little sentiment on the flowers in the bottom corner in white.

I used some light blue thread in a few places around the layout for some fun added texture. You can see 2 spots above, behind the 2 little flower clusters. Which I fussy cut from the 6×6 paper pad.

And a close up of those little flowers with that thread behind the heart and photo. You can also see here that there is a couple of layers behind the photo – again I used the paper pad and also some vellum.

Another little cluster and for some reason I really, really love how this part of the page came together. Some more blue thread, fussy cut flowers and also a couple of cut aparts from Flutterby Designs that I have had in my stash for way too long. Oh, and another clear white MAMBI sticker.

And last but not least, the little cluster on the left of the heart 🙂 More thread, another clear sticker and also some tiny talk word strips by Tim Holtz. There are also a couple of those tiny talk stickers up on the photo 🙂

Well, that’s it for me, I hope you enjoyed your visit. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and take a peek at my layout!

Happy scrapping, till next time

Another PL update!

Hi there!!

Today I am here to share with you some more of my PL pages!! It’s been a little while but as always, life has been CRAZY!!

Lots of photos so grab a cuppa and enjoy!!

Straight into it with week 9

This is how they sit in our album 🙂
I have used the Maggie Holmes Open Book kit – absolutely gorgeous!!

The left hand side – I have added some veneer pieces, some enamel dots and also pulled bits and pieces from the Open Book ephemera packs an also the rub ons. Oh, and that gold arrow is from Freckled Fawn.

And the right hand side.
I have been hanging out to use that cute little bunny veneer from Corbett Creations for ages and I love it!!

Onto week 10

I have used the Heidi Swapp Favourite Things core kit for this week and also some of the papers from the 6×6 paper pad. Added in some printable labels from my stash, some Freckled Fawn veneer words and also a couple of chippy stickers from an older Heidi Swapp line that ended up in my “use it or lose it” box.

The left hand side.
Oh, I have also used some Journal It’s – Wordfetti from D-lish Scraps – layered up a bunch on the title card and scattered a few around the pages.

And the right hand side 🙂

Week 11

For this week I have used Crate Paper’s Notes & Things 6×6 paper pad paired with more of the Maggie Holmes Open Book ephemera packs and rub ons.

Our title card for the week – so love how this turned out!! I just piled on some of the ephemera pieces and added some pretty clear sequins and some yellow alpha stickers from my stash 🙂

The left hand side – I am going to go back over those grey letters on the bottom left – not happy with how it looks!!

And the right hand side 🙂 I love, love, love Design E page protectors!!

Week 12

I have actually used one of the panoramic design A page protectors on the right hand side so this is of the page closed 🙂

I have used the Plus One core kit along with the 6×6 paper pad. Added embellies from my stash that worked with the colours I chose 🙂

And here the panoramic page opened alongside the left page of the spread

The left hand side. I have also used the Plus One die cuts (the xoxo) and have coated them in glossy accents before adhering them for a different texture on the page.

And the right hand side with the flip closed. Again, a die cut that I have used my glossy accents on – the little love heart.

And opened 🙂

And week 13!

I have used Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic for this layout. Added in more heart veneers, enamel dots and the cutest little alphabet stamp I found at Typo!

The left hand side 🙂 Bottom left is a flip.

And opened – my big boy is currently obsessed with building things with lego. And his fave to build whatever he feels like – no rules or instructions – and I love that!!

And the title card. I just really liked the way this little card come together!

And the right hand side 🙂 I love, love, love that photo in the top right! The funniest story! I had organised a play date with a Mum’s group Mum and all the boys were playing. One of them found “something” in the sand! They were all very excited and in an attempt to find out what it was we suggested them working together. So they made this little human chain, one holding onto anothers feet and then they all pulled!! It was hilariously funny to watch and we encouraged them!! By the way, we THINK the “something” was actually a tree root!! haha!!

Onto week 14

Both ages together and for this week I have used the Shimelle 12×12 paper pad – I don’t think this range had a name but it was her 1st with American Crafts. I have used some of the cut apart sheets and also some of the 12 x 12 papers. Added in some washi, some of the Shimelle stickers and rub ons and used my little butterfly punch by Stampin Up.

I might add here too that that little insta camera card thing I have had in my stash for AGES – like 2 years or something and am so happy to have it on a layout. There is another on the right hand side on the big panoramic sunset picture that came with this one too so yay for using stuff!!

This is a Simple Stories page protector and I love the design but there is one little thing that bugs me to no end everytime I use it!! That top 4″ x 12″ pocket is actually more like 4 x 12 1/2″ (ish) so everything rattles around in there until you staple it in (or the like) but this time I outsmarted it! I have actually mounted the photo on 2 pieces of that patterned paper but you can’t see the join unless you go looking for it – I have covered it up pretty well!!

Week 14 was the week of Easter so I, of course, have an insert!

I have used another Simple Stories page protector for this one – love the 6×8 pocket!!

Here is the front of the page. I think that the pink card comes from possibly the Heidi Swapp Favourite Things or perhaps the Blush core kit. Either way I thought it was cute and decided that even though these pages are all about the boys pink was totally acceptable since it was Easter 😉
That bunny came from Corbett Creations – so cute!!

And this side is all about Easter Sunday. And my boys. Of course!! And chocolate!! Haha!

The card on the top right has been in my stash I think since 2013 – I participated in a swap and totally forgot I had it. But the Easter Bunny found it, raided my stash for some alphas to spell “HOPPY EASTER” found my green highlighter and signed it LOVE E.B. with a little pawprint he drew. What a clever bunny 😉

And the last photo for this post! Phew!
I just love this photo of my boys. They were so totally excited and happy and looking forward to diving into their stash of chocolates! Those brads, something else that has been in my stash for I dont even know how long – I think I purchased them to document Jacob’s 1st Easter which was in 2010….

So, that is it for me – my hand is sore from all this typing!! Haha!!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my pages and I would love any comments you would love to take the time to leave! I hope to be “caught up” to where I am in real life in blog land soon so that I can start doing weekly shares of our album!!

Anyways, happy scrapping!!

CSI Challenge #162 with Dusty Attic

Hi there!!

Just popping in today to share another layout I have done for CSI: Color Stories Inspiration while Dusty Attic are sponsoring and we all get to be Guest Detectives!

I had so much fun with this little case file as well and as soon as I saw it I knew I needed to scrap this gorgeous piccy of my my big from his 5th Birthday!

So, obviously, I have gone for the stars (no big surprises there!!) but I have also used a solid background (the yellow cardstock way at the back), lots of paint on all the chippy pieces and I have also incorporated some space elements in the form of stickers from an old Bo Bunny range. I chose the journalling prompt of writing in the format of a Q & A – this challenge has given me the idea of doing this with each family member each year around their birthday – I’m so excited at the idea!! And my journalling is actually behind the star panel and takes up the whole back side of the photo and the other side too!

I am trying to work out how to pop this into a 12×12 page protector so the journalling is easily accessible so if you have any ideas please do share!!

Here are a few close ups

All of the black chippy has had a coat of Dusty Attic’s clear varnish over the top of the black paint and I LOVE the way it has turned out!!

The Dusty items I have used for this layout are as follows:

DA0933 – Stars #1
DA1040 – Mini Stars
DA0861N – Mini ABC Upper
DA0993 – Chevrons Small
DA1187 – Word Pack #6 – I totally, totally love this pack!!

I really had so much fun playing along as guest detective this month and if you like the looks of these challenges you should head over to check out all the other inspiring pages and play along – especially with such an awesome prize coming from Dusty Attic!! You will find CSI here on Facebook and here is their website.

A scrapbook page!!

Hello there bloggers!!

Today I am sharing a traditional page that I have done to tick a few boxes.

First box – scrap a page from my niece’s year 7 graduation (December 2011)
Second box – Use some of Angie’s new digi stamps (as soon as I saw these I KNEW I was going to tick at least one thing off my very very long to do list!)
Third box – I am entering this into a sketch challenge over at Sassy Scrappers – my 1st ever entry into a scrap challenge so please don’t be too harsh on me!!

First up here is the sketch

And you can buy Angie’s new digi stamps here.

Now onto the page 😀

I have used an Amy Tan paper for the background (yellow, chevron, can’t go wrong!!) and some of my pieces of bazzill. I have printed Angie’s images onto Stampin Up Crumb Cake card stock and inked all the edges with distress stain.  That is a Studio Calico chevron mask I have used and some gorgeous Heidi Swapp mustard colour shine on the back ground also borrowed this technique and coloured the title “grad” with colour shines and a paint brush.

And here is the result

As always, thank you for stopping by, I hope you like what you saw!!

PL Week 9

Well hello there lovely blog followers!!
It has been a little while since I blogged anything – oops – I guess life has happened!

I am here to share with you tonight my Week 9 Project Life pages.
For this week I have used a mix of my cobalt core kit and lots of goodies supplied to me from the wonderful Michelle over at The Stamp Spot.

LHS

RHS
I have used a very cute Amy Tan stamp set for my filler card along with some more goodies from Michelle – I think the stamp set belongs to the Yes Please line and I think it’s called Aspire.

BOTH

And that week included a trip out to a new park for us so we have an insert as well. The protector I have used is made by Bazzill and is one of their Lickety Slipper page protectors which I am really loving!!

This is the PP closed and what you see when flipping through the album – I just ADORE the top picture of my little (or not so much anymore!!) Hunter Jett!!

And opened
We all got involved in the fun that day – mind you though I managed to smash my left big toe stopping that swing and it is STILL sore as I type and we are in Week 16!!

And the back

That’s it for today. Thank you for stopping in and feel free to leave me some love!!
