CUT to YOU | Make A Wish | 12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog today! I hope you have all enjoyed the lovely long weekend and celebrating all that we have and all that we are here in Australia!

Today I have my next share for you for Gwen’s CUT to YOU store and I am using a “Christmas” cut file for a page for my littlest guy’s most recent BIRTHDAY!! Yep, you read that right, a christmas cut for a birthday!! #winning

I have used the Make A Wish cut file in 2 sizes for this page. In actual fact, these were left over cuts from a card class I taught here in December and as I was packing up this idea came to my mind and I had so much fun making it come to life!

Here is the page I created and I really love it!!

I started with my background on my white cardstock – I think I used Bazzill Marshmallow. I applied a coat of clear gesso prior to starting and then pulled out a fun Echo Park bat stencil and got to stencilling some modelling paste onto my white cardstock.

I have then used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours to add colour, well, not colour lol, to m background. I have used lots of water and paint and just added the colour until I was happy with how it looked over the top of the dried modelling paste. You can see in my process video just how I added the black!

When my background was dry I added some splatters in yellow using Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in yellow – I think my all time fave bright, happy, sunshiney yellow! And then in gold – using my watercolours and a paint brush.

While that dried I grabbed my die cut “Wish” words and randomly added in 3 different yellow colours using a combination of spritzing the colour on and painting it on. I have used Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Butter, Lindy’s Magical Shaker in California Poppy Gold and Colour Burst by Ken Oliver in Zest. I love the sparkle and the different shades of yellow on the cut files!

After that was all dry it was time to build up my layers behind my photo. I have once again pulled out my scrap box and looked for yellow, grey, black and white and layered them randomly behind my photo until I was happy with the way they looked.

I stuck the cut files down first as they were part of my background and then my photo cluster. I didn’t want to or need to add too much more as embellishment but added in a couple of Batman flair badges and some more splatter in both yellow and white.

My title was created with white thickers that I coloured with the Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Butter. And finally, some white, black and grey enamel dots sprinkled all over the page and some yellow prills to 3 areas using matt medium. Oh, and of course a little journalling under my photos!

I really, really love the way this page came out. In fact, I think it’s better than I had it planned in my head lol and that is a rare occurrence!

I hope you have enjoyed and that I have inspired you to perhaps look at your “themed” cut files in a bit of a different light!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

CUT to YOU | Boy Mum Life | A Scrapbook Layout

Hey, hey and happy hump day to you all! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog to see my latest creation!

Today’s share is for CUT to YOU and I have used the very fun Sketchy Circles Open cut file – available here. (The custom cut can be found here.)

I cut this a little while ago on my cameo when I cut my last black cut file and hadn’t yet worked out how I was going to use it but I love the fun page I ended up creating!

I have enlarged the file and then cut a few of the extra circles to fill the empty space on  my cutting mat.

I have, of course, created a mixed media background using white gesso, Prima Color Bloom sprays (Deep Teal and Cobalt) and Color Shine in Patina and water.

I have used a combination of 2 different types of alpha to create my title and LOVE those giant kraft coloured alphas that I have simply stamped on and inked around the edges to make them fit my page perfectly!

I also pulled out my Boy’s Rule collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studios and used a clear sticker, some 6×8 papers (mostly off cuts!) and some chippy to add some other details to my page.

If you’d like to see the whole page come together there is also a process video  below, just click on the play button and enjoy!

Short and sweet today! I hope you enjoyed and if you have any questions please make sure you leave me a comment and I will get back to you ASAP!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

CUT to YOU | You & Me | Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone and welcome once again to my blog!! So glad you stopped in!

Today’s inspiration is my latest share for CUT to YOU. This month Gwen is sponsoring the great Aussie challenge site Made to Scrap the Aussie Way and created this VERY cool cut file that is available both as a custom cut and a digital file.

I, of course, made use of the digital cut file and when I opened it in the Silhoutte software I manipulated it so it was a tiny bit shorter than 12″ as I was totally and completely inspired by the tattoo in the inspiration piece from Made To Scrap. I wanted to mimic that so I cut the file in black cardstock.
TIP: I found using a new blade did the trick in cutting the black perfectly so if you have struggled like me, perhaps you need a blade or a “special” blade for black?! While I was cutting black I also cut the fun Constellation file a few times, filling my page with different sized stars and re-sizing them to fit around and fill the whole page.

Anyways, here is  my page

For all of that pretty, messy fun background I have once again used my Distress Oxide inks.

If you are a follower of mine, did you see that I used PURPLE?! In fact, I not only used purple, I purposefully MIXED a purple lol But the page needed it and purple is one of my niece’s fave colours and since it’s a photo of us I figured I would include it!

Here are a few more close ups!

And even a process video

Make sure you keep an eye on the CUT to YOU HQ page to see the other girls awesome pages and also to see what other cut files people are playing with! Also, if you are inspired by the challenge head over here to enter your take to win some awesome CUT to YOU goodies!!

I hope you have enjoyed and as always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy scrapping

Scrap The Boys | September | Hello Mr Blue Eyes

Hey everyone and hello September! And for us here in Australia that means hello SPRING as well so yay for some hopefully warmer weather!!

Today’s share is for Scrap The Boys and this month it is all about those little baby boys in our lives <3<3<3 I am lucky enough to have a stack of photo's of little boys close to me that I can choose from and I chose one of my biggest little guys newborn photos. Here is my page

This photo I have also had printed as big canvas and it hangs in our lounge room next to his brother’s new photo, too adorable!!

I have used some (new to me!) gorgeous Art Alchemy Metallique Paints by Finnibair to colour up the gorgeous cut file designed by Gwen Wruck. You can find her shop here!

I didn’t stick that cut file all the way down, I only stuck mostly in the centre of the flowers and the stems so I would get lots of dimension and I so adore this page!

I have also recorded my process if you are interested in seeing this page come together so just click on the link below to see the video!

And of course, a couple of extra close ups!

If you have any questions please leave them below, I do love hearing from you guys! Make sure to link up your take on this challenge over here on the STB blog and I look forward to seeing all of your creations!

Until next time, happy scrapping
