{Scrap The Boys} September Challenge ~ You Is A Pretty Girl Mummy

Hi there and welcome yet again to my blog!

I’m here today sharing my take on the September challenge over at Scrap The Boys. This is my first time actually finding/making the time to play along and it is another story told!

The challenge this month was to scrap a photo of your boy/s WITH you in the photo! I chose this photo of myself with my oldest boy. He is seriously the sweetest little dude (when it suits him!!) and is so thoughtful so when I saw the accompanying quote “Theres this boy who stole my heart and he calls me Mum” I knew this was the photo I wanted to scrap because the story is so sweet!

And here is my page. I used the beautiful Maggie Holmes Bloom range and knew straight away which background paper to use! How could I resist the beautiful blue denim look with those adorable deer when my son was being a “dear” to me?!

And a few close ups

I cut the word “pretty” on my cameo using the Shoreline font and coloured it with some distress ink and love how it came out – the perfect shade of pink for this page!

I have wanted to play along with STB for a long time, especially being the Mum to 2 little boys but always miss the deadline! I hope to be back again VERY soon to play along as I have, shall we say, a “couple” of photo’s of boys doing boy things! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

{ScrappingClearly DT} PL 2016 WK16

Hi there, I’m here with you today sharing one of my Project Life spreads I have put together using the gorgeous Maggie Holmes Bloom Collection!

I just love, love, love recording our every day and love the concept of Project Life but am “behind” in 2016. I use that term very loosely as I don’t think of the project as a “I must be caught up type thing”, it would be WAY too much like “work” and not FUN so here I am sharing our week 16 which is back in April!

First up I’ll share where I start ALL of my PL pages – the title card for the week

I made these hearts as I missed out on them in the store but they are super easy to put together and I actually recorded my process in a previous process video which you can see here if you are interested – you could so make these with any products, any colours, any ranges and they would look so gorgeous!!

I have used 2 of the E design page protectors – personally one of my faves – which has 4 6×6 pockets so I tend to reach for my 6×6 paper pads and this week was no exception!

I always start my pages by planning (yes, I PLAN my pages otherwise I get way too confused!!) my photo’s, printing my photo’s and then slipping said photo’s into the designated page protector/s for the week. Once that process is done I grab some papers or PL cards – and honestly, due to the nature of the day to day photos I work with, whatever supplies inspire me to create at that very moment! So when I got to the is week I was like right, Maggie Holmes Bloom is speaking to me and I have all those 6×6 pockets to work with!!

I slipped all the papers into the pocket from the 6×6 pad I wanted to use and got to creating my LO

Here is the completed left hand side

As you can see I do almost mini LO’s on each pocket! I have used some of the pieces from the ephemera pack, the very pretty glitter thickers, some of the washi strips and of course some of those GORGEOUS butterflies I had cut from the “Flutter” 12×12 paper. I also added in some labels from my stash 🙂 Oh, and I added in stamping using a fave roller date stamp.

Here is the right hand side completed

More ephemera, yummy thickers, washi and butterflies – this time cut from both the 12×12 paper and the 6×6 paper. More labels and stamping from my stash.

You will notice too that I tend to have lots to say! What can I say, I am predominately a story teller and that is what draws me so much into this awesome hobby of mine!

This week also has an insert. For that I used a 5×7 vertical page protector and this is the photograph in the front
One of my absolute all time favourite photographs of my boys!!

I used the B side of the “Flutter” paper for the back paper layer for the journalling on the back of this photo and here is a photo of the finished insert
Another of those hearts made with some off cuts of papers, some of the vellum and some of the washi strips. And machine stitching 🙂 A couple of the washi tape layers behind the heart, lots of journalling and a very simple, effective title with those beautiful thickers.

That’s it for me for today! I am always working on some part of our PL album, I just love it and I hope that one day my boys will look back and enjoy this glimpse into what life was like as they were growing up! Remember to tell your stories, big, small, good, bad or anything in between, life is life and it is yours and so worth recording!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy, scrappy day!!

{Scrappingclearly DT} First Kiss

Hi there and welcome to my blog this Monday morning!! Today I’m here with you with another share using the GORGEOUS Maggie Holmes Bloom collection and another wedding layout for Scrappingclearly!

Here is the complete page

And as you can see I have put alot of time into the title with that hand stitching. I am so loving it at the moment! If you head over here you can see my full process in my process video 🙂

After I had hand stitched my title I went in with a stencil and some of the awesome Faber-Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel mixed with one of the fun colour powders from Colour Blast for a little added colour and texture.

Here are some details shots

The hand stitched title, I really love how this turned out!! If you haven’t tried it and love the look it is SO worth the time and effort and makes the rest of the page come together pretty easily, especially when you have so many pretty things to work with 😉

As part of the Bloom collection there were these stunning layered/fringed hearts and for some reason I never got my hands on any but as I mentioned in another post I did I did have HEAPS of fun making my own!! Again, you can see my whole process for that in my video 🙂

But a quick run down of how to:
Find a big-ish heart (or any shape really!!) die or punch – obviously, I used a heart (die). I used one of the papers from the 6×6 paper pad as my base layer thinking you would see more than you actually do, oops!! But then I grabbed a few off cuts and cut a few strips from some of the other papers in the 6×6 pad. I have also incorporated some of the washi strips from the washi booklet and some of my offcuts of that BEAUTIFUL gold foiled vellum piece from the collection. I used my fringing scissors – Kylie has some in store here – and fringed the edges. I went in with some wet glue and stuck all my layers down in a way I was happy then when that was all dry I took the whole piece to my sewing machine for that extra stitched detail. These are so, so pretty!

A close up of more of the detail around the photo. A pink doily from my stash, some of the leaves from the Bloom ephemera pack and again, more of those gorgeous butterflies cut from the Flutter paper

And onto the top cluster! A couple more pieces from the ephemera pack, some crotchet thread from my stash and another fussy cut butterfly – this one from the 6×6 version of the paper.

As you can see, there is some stamping in a couple of places and a very light sprinkling of Roadbase Colour Blast Colour Spray and also some of the Colour Blast powder mixed with water – the same colour I did the stencilling in.

I ended up using this paper to mount the whole page on, I really liked the definition the black brought to the edges of the page.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope I have inspired you to have a play with some of your own pretty papers and embellishments to get some precious memories recorded!

Happy Scrapping!

Hi there and welcome to my blog! I’m here with you today sharing my take on the gorgeous sketch put together by the very talented Chloe for the July sketch challenge over at Scrappingclearly! Isn’t it an awesome design!!

I have, again, used the stunning Bloom collection by Maggie Holmes and a gorgeous photo of my now 17 1/2 year old niece from my 2008 wedding 🙂

I have used that gorgeous “Moments” paper for my background which really surprised me! I thought I would use the other side but it just wasn’t happening for me!

That sunburst was made using a Heidi Swapp stencil from my stash and a mix of Heidi Swapp colour shine in Primrose, Blush and (of course!) Gold Lame and then cut down from the 12×12 paper I started with. I have mostly stuck to the sketch but I did move the big cluster from the left to the right and found a white cardstock frame I had pre-cut which worked perfectly 🙂 And, of course, more of that oh so pretty gold vellum!

I thought about adding something else for the title but ended up going with this gorgeous gold glitter piece from the ephemera pack. I just backed it with a sheet from the 6×6 paper pad – those bows are just adorable!! I made that fringe myself with my handy fringe scissors that I have had in my stash for years! That bottom layer is actually the branding strip from one of the papers and the black and white stripe is from another of Maggie’s collections.

The sketch called for something up the top so I ended up picking this piece from the ephemera as it brought in both the gold glitter and the black. I also added some more of that fringed paper 🙂

As you can see I have scattered more of those gorgeous fussy cut butterflies from the “Flutter” paper. I needed a little extra something and after a little mucking about I decided on cutting out a couple of those little butterflies from the matching 6×6 paper from the paper pad.

Some sequins by Studio Calico – they are so shiny and pretty!! – and also some sprinkles of Gold Lame colour shine to finish it off.

A close up of where all the action is in the middle of the page! I just adore this photo of my niece and I can’t believe that 8 years have passed so quickly and she is no longer this little girl but practically an adult!

And one more close up, just for good measure 😉

You can watch all (well, most of!) of my process of putting it together by following this link! This is only my 2nd process video so I hope you enjoy!

Make sure you load up your own entry for this fun sketch over on the Scrappingclearly blog or FB page for your chance to win a voucher to the store. Keep an eye on the blog too for all of the other girls’ takes on the challenge this month!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

Mum’s Scrap Room for Scrappingclearly

Hi hi and welcome to my blog today for this fun share with goodies from the Scrappingclearly store!

I was sent this gorgeous Heidi Swapp Marquee Love Chalkboard heart by Kylie and was totally in love straight away. It took me a little while to work out what I was going to do to it to pretty it up and make it more “mine” but when I worked out what I was going to do it all came together super quick!!

I am going to hang this on my craft room door and perhaps leave messages for my husband and children when I don’t want to be disturbed while I’m tucked away in here 😉 Or perhaps they could leave me little love notes 😉 Haha!

Here are a couple of close ups

You can see here that I have layered up a flower from the Maggie Holmes Bloom ephemera pack and some of those totally gorgeous  butterflies I hand cut from the “Flutter” pattered paper.

I also added in some splatters from the ever reliable and so so pretty Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Gold.

This heart is actually a DIY job 😀 I adore the layered hearts that came out in this collection and never got my hands on any (apparently the rest of the population also loved them!!) so I made my own. It was a very simple process! I started with a big heart die that I cut out of plain white card stock. I grabbed some of the patterned papers from the Maggie Holmes Bloom 6×6 paper pad and also this one from a scrap from previous project. I’ve also layered in some of that oh so pretty gold printed vellum and a strip from the washi tape booklet. After it was all stuck down I took it to my sewing machine and used some gold thread to sew along most of the lines and I really love how this turned out!

And finally, a photo of this light up in all of its glory 🙂

That’s it for me for today!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and happy scrapping!

Brothers make the best mates

Hi there and welcome to my blog today!

My very talented father in law took this absolutely gorgeous photograph of my 2 boys at a sleep over a few weeks back and I couldn’t wait to scrap it!

I knew straight away I wanted the photograph to do the majority of the “work” on this page so have gone very clean and simple and have used the absolutely stunning Maggie Holmes Bloom collection.

Here is my completed page

As you can see I and I said earlier, I have gone very minimal on this page but I did hand stitch that title. Which took like, forever. BUT I LOVE how it turned out and love this whole layout.

I have used the gorgeous reverse side of the “Flutter” paper for my background – I had to stock up on this piece – one for the butterflies to be fussy cut, one for this gorgeous side and for, well, it’s pretty, so “just in case” 😉
And here is a close up of the title area

I have paired my hand stitching with the gorgeous gold glitter thickers from the collection and also the XOXO from the ephemera pack.

I don’t think a more accurate photo of these 2 together and their love and sense of fun and cheekiness has ever been taken!!

I used a piece of that gorgeous gold vellum to back the photo and also a doily from my stash.

I’ve pulled out the “so sweet” and “love you” little word strips from the ephemera pack. Also, that gold glitter heart and the yellow heart.

You can’t see it at all but I have attached a little envelope behind the photo for me to put in a letter to the pair of these boys to find when they get bigger. I didn’t want to add any extra to the page but I wanted them to know what this photo means to me as their Mummy 🙂

And here is a shot of the envelope hidden behind and between the layers

I think I said it already but I seriously love this photo of them and love this page! My FIL managed to capture so much more than their smiles in it and when I first saw it it brought a tear to my eye 🙂 Yep, I’m a sook, haha!!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

Love You Always

Hi there and welcome to my blog! Today I am sharing my take on the inspiration piece for Scrappingclearly for this month!! And, isn’t it just gorgeous!!

As soon as I saw this I KNEW I had to dig into my stash of wedding photo’s (from 2008 I may add 😉 ) as my colours were pink, black and white for our big day!! I picked one of my most fave shots from when we headed to the beach with the photographer and the bridal party.

Here is my completed layout and I have used the GORGEOUS Maggie Holmes Bloom collection to put this together!

First thing, a very little bit of mixed media using Heidi Swapp Primrose colour shine mixed with some texture paste and applied through a stencil. And, of course a few sprinkles of both the pink and gold colour shine. I let that dry and got to work on the rest of my layout.

I layered up the paper, Adore, behind my photo, used a doily from my stash and cut a piece from that beautiful printed vellum (which I gutted the middle of because it just seemed wasteful for it to be hiding behind all those other layers). I also wanted to incorporate a piece of black and white striped paper which I pulled from my stash from another Maggie collection and again, gutted the middle of that to use both on another layout and also as a layer behind my photo.

And here are some close ups

Over the course of iNSD a couple of weekends ago I purchased a few new cut files and pre-cut them on my cameo with white cardstock which I then embossed with gold glitter embossing powder from my stash. This one came from Just Nick and when I picked this photo I knew this was going to be the title paired with those gorgeous glitter thickers also from the Bloom collection which you can get here in the store.

I have used a couple of the florals from the ephemera pack, they are just so pretty! And, I’m sure like EVERYONE else that has received the beautiful Flutter paper, I also fussy cut some of those gorgeous butterflies (and just quietly, I so love the butterflies and that gorgeous wood grain a couple more pieces may have jumped into my cart without me realising!!) to spread across the page.

I also received these super, shiny, pretty sequins by Studio Calico and couldn’t wait to get them onto a page!! It’s a bit hard to see in my photo’s but prior to sticking the butterflies down I took them to my sewing machine and did a couple of back and forward straight lines and a quick zig zag too with some gold thread.

I really love the simplicity of this little cluster. I used some of that vellum that I had gutted and attached those gorgeous pink and gold glitter letters from the ephemera pack – I just love, love, love the range of shapes and all the different pieces that come in these packs! I added another butterfly and a couple of sequins. As you can see here I also did a simple straight stitch all the way around the border of the white card stock just to pull it all together and for another small detail.

So, that’s my take of that gorgeous inspiration piece for this month! Make sure you have a play along and either link up to the blog or the album in the facebook group for your chance to win an awesome prize!!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!
