CUT to YOU | Summer Days

Hi everyone! I’m so excited you are here with me as I share my latest creation for CUT to YOU with you!

How super fun and bright and colourful is it?!? I just LOVE it! And I love how I have used the “Summer Days” cut file as part of the background!!

When I decided to use this photo of my boys I just KNEW that the brand new Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection “Sunkissed” would be the perfect match! Knowing the photo and the collection I wanted to use just left the cut file choice! I wanted something that I could easily incorporate into my background without the cut file being the main and most obvious piece on the page.

I have sized the cut file to 9 different sizes and played with the idea I had in my head in the Silhouette software. When I was happy with the cut size and placement I sent the white card stock through to be cut.

On another piece of thick, smooth white card stock I had my Cameo trace the beginning and ending S’s in each line and also a horizontal line between each of the lines of text in pencil so I knew where to place each of the cuts. I do show that part of my process in my process video which is linked below for you!

I’ve pulled out 5 Distress Oxide colours (from top to bottom – Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans) and swiped those across my page – here is where those horizontal lines came into action 😉 – and then activated with a paint brush loaded up with water to create paint strokes.

When that was all dry, I adhered all of those “Summer Days” pieces with scotch tacky only in the centre line. For texture and interest I’ve then stitched straight through the middle of each of those title pieces with matching coloured thread and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE how it came out! I also stitched along the horizontal lines with some gold thread.

I’ve pulled a few pieces from the floral ephemera pack, the puffy stickers, the accessory sticker sheet, the gold foam titles and one of the wooden buttons to complete my page. My title is an acrylic piece from my stash. With all of my pieces in place I was then able to go back through to the cut files and lift up either edge for some interest!

This layout was oh so fun to create! I love that I have used a “title” cut file to create my background and that, with the help of my layer choices, it does not over my layout!! Gwen has so many titles in the store to choose from and I hope that perhaps I have inspired you to play with one as part of a background design!

I hope you have enjoyed my share today!! I look forward to sharing another project with you soon but until then, happy scrapping!!

CUT to YOU | A+ Study Squad

Hello scrappy friends and a big welcome to my blog today! I’m here for my next share for CUT to YOU.

I hope you are enjoying this months new releases as much as I have been! And those A-MAZING Christmas cut files, swoon! Anyways, I am here today to share this fun layout I created!

I’m not entirely convinced that when Gwen created this “Study Squad” cut file she had this type of “learning” on the radar however I felt it was a perfect match for this photo of my boys learning how to make their Mumma a pod coffee 😉

I’ve pulled out my stash of the Pink Fresh Studio “Let’s Stay Home” collection for this one and have backed the cut file with (mostly) the 6×6 paper pad. I simply could not resist the awesome “Better Things Are Ahead” patterned paper that I may have been hoarding 😉 So much colour and so, so fun!!

STB July 2020 | Wonderful You

Hey my scrappy friends and welcome to my blog again today!!

Can you believe it is the 1st July already?!? Officially birthday month for me 😉

Anyways, I’m here with my next share for Scrap The Boys. Check out this mood board – it is so, so beautiful and I really love it!!And here is my layout.

As you can see I was inspired by the soft, pretty colours which steered me in the direction of this beautiful cut file designed by Paige Evans. It’s from the Silhouette Store and simply called “Flower Wreath” (Design ID 232488).

For my title I have used one of the Annabelle acrylic pieces from the “Word Pack 2 Wonderful” set, available exclusively through Anna’s Craft Cupboard paired with some holographic thickers.

I have recorded my process video and you can watch that in the video below, just hit the play button! I hope you enjoy!

And here are some close up photo’s for you.

Make sure you head over to the STB blog to see all of the other gorgeous creations from the team and to enter your take on this challenge!

I hope I have inspired you to play with some soft pinks and blues and maybe even some florals for a boy page!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

March 2020 Homemade Kit | Creations | 7 layouts & a card

Hello once again my scrappy friends and welcome to my blog!

Today’s share is to show you all of the things I created with my March 2020 Homemade Kit – in total 7 12×12 layouts and a card!

First up you can see the video flip through below – it’s long, so grab a cuppa or vodka 😉 The card is not in the video, I was inspired after filming lol

And onto my creations!!

First up was this one for Scrap The Boys March 2020 Challenge

You can see my process video below

Next was this fun page using drippy water colours and a tonne of ephemera pieces and stickers!

Again, process video is below

Third was this page, inspired by a class I am currently doing with Shimelle

And you can see more close up’s of this on this post on my blog.

Fourth was another layout inspired by Shimelle’s class.

As hard as it was to use it, I love that I used that gorgeous rainbow stripe paper!

Next up was this page – Seek Adventure In Books.

This page was created by following along with Sue Plumb’s class that was created for a Cyber Crop and you can see her video here.

I did create a process video for this one and you can see that by clicking below!

VIDEO COMING SOON I PROMISE!!

Layout 6 was created while I was Zooming with a scrappy friend actually! I had a lot of these blue and green papers left so decided to create a stack with most of what I had left.

The paper layers were topped with these fun & silly photos of my youngest and this fun cut file I had cut previously from CUT to YOU!
And finally, with mostly scraps left I created this layout, again featuring my youngest.

The “Sun Kissed” title was perfect for this photo!! I kept this page pretty simple. A few layers behind my photo, some Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Gold smooshed onto my background and a loose vertical line of butterflies.

I really, really love the end result!

As I mentioned, I threw together a card after I turned off the camera!

A few simple layers, a giant butterfly and a few of my left over ephemera pieces.
I am really pleased with just how much I got out of this kit!!

I did learn a couple of lessons too which I can use for future kits

– I added in WAY too many embellishments/stickers
– Though this kit was created using a rainbow stripe pattern paper as the base it became very blue/green
– I do love a bigger variety of coloured/patterned papers

So, I shall apply these lessons to building my April kit!
Which, by the way, you can find here on Khristina’s blog!

I hope you enjoyed my shares and I can’t wait to build and create and with Aprils kit!!

Until next time, happy scrapping & stay safe!!

Melinda
