Colour Blast Kit Club | October 2018 Kit – Butterfly Stardust

Hey everyone!

I am here today sharing a round up of the projects I made using the October 2018 Colour Blast Kit called Butterfly Stardust.

To start off with here is my unboxing video if you’d like to see everything that comes in both the Kit and the Platinum Kit.

Those of you that do sub to the kit have been advised that there were delays so you should all have started to receive your kits by now and I hope you are enjoying the inspiration provided by us DT members and of course by the beautiful products contained in the kits! Especially with the ever so creative Michelle Grant being behind the exclusive designs!

If you are not a kit subscriber and would like more info or to sign up head over here where there is the complete listing of the kits and options available.

Last week I shared my first full step-by-step with a process video scrapbook page and the link for that video is below

And this is my finished project and a couple of close ups

This week (today in fact 😉 ) I am sharing my second full step-by-step with a process video art journal page and the link for that video is below

Here is my finished project and a couple of close ups

Lastly, I created a couple of extra pieces with some of the left overs. I set myself the challenge of using as much of the left overs as I could and I am so happy with the amount I managed to get onto projects!

First up a tag

And secondly a canvas

I think that between all of these projects this is maybe my fave. Maybe. I do love the scrapbook page I created though as well. Which is your fave???

I hope that you are enjoying your October kits and the projects I have shared with you. While you play with those I will be creating with the December kit 😉

I can’t wait to see your creations so make sure you share in the exclusive Kit Club group but, of course, you are more than welcome to share in the Colour Blast Creative Corner FB group as well!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

{Colour Blast} Dream ~ 12 x 12 Canvas

Hey everyone and welcome to the blog today!

I have something a little different to share with you
but oh boy, I love it!! It’s not often I do “pretty” and “feminine” but I sure did for this and I got to have another play with the awesome Colour Artist Inks! Here is my project, a 12×12 canvas for a friend’s daughter for her 15th birthday in June and it was well received!

If you have been on the internet at all in the last couple of months you will know straight away that this idea is most certainly not mine, I was inspired by the one and only Paige Evans and then all the people that were also inspired by Paige so got creating!

I started by working on the butterflies I had cut earlier on my Cameo. I left them on the mat to make it a bit less fiddly to colour. A quick, light coat of White Heavy Gesso which dried super quickly!

And then some random stamping with some Versafine Black ink. I popped that aside to dry thoroughly and started work on my canvas background.

Next I painted my black stripes. I have used the Black Heavy Gesso on my messy with a little bit of water to make it more of an acrylic paint consistency and used about a 1″ brush to apply random black brush strokes across my canvas, varying where they started and ended.

While that was still wet I added some BIG black splatters on the diagonal from the top right to the bottom left by adding a bit more water to the black gesso and using my fingers to squeeze the bristles of the brush together to get big splats! I love this look!

Next I chose my warm colours in the Colour Artist Inks to play with knowing that they could mix together and would not get any mud! The colours I used (from left to right) are:
Citrus, Barley, Cider, Spice, Sunburnt, Cranberry & Bordeaux.
If you haven’t yet got your hands on these inks then it’s important to note that these are beautiful vibrant colours. I was after something a little softer so I spritzed my paper with water and then randomly added drips of all the colours to my page and turned and tilted my page to get a good coverage.

When that was dry I went in with splatters of all the colours using a paintbrush and also some splatters using the Bling Colour Shimmer Spray; using both the nozzle and a paintbrush. This I left to air dry as well.

I grabbed my now dry canvas and added in some splatters of the Bling as well, once again using the Colour Shimmer Spray. I added these to tie in the gold from the butterflies.

While the canvas was drying I pulled all of the butterflies off of the cutting mat, stacked them on top of each other, adhered with a tiny dot of glue and then ran through my sewing machine, leaving all of the threads long for extra texture.

I wanted to add a little something more to the background so grabbed a stamp set and some white tissue paper. I stamped a bunch of butterflies and also the sentiment which formed my title and had a bit of a play with placement. When I was happy I adhered my stamped tissue paper with matte medium and left to dry.

When the matte medium was all dry I adhered all of my butterflies, added some sequins following that diagonal and my canvas was completed! Here are a few close up’s where you can really see the dimension of all of those butterflies!

I seriously love how this turned out and when I gave it to my friends daughter she LOVED it!! Winning!!

Also, click on the link below for the process video if you’d like to see this canvas come together!!

Anyways, I hope I have inspired to create something today and I’ll see you again later this month for my very last post as part of the Colour Blast Design Team!

Tiddly Inks Challenge #159 – Super Power

Hi and welcome!!

Today I am sharing something a little different for me – 2 6″ x 6″ canvas’ that I have made to go into my little guy’s bedroom when we decided “it’s time” (just quietly, it will NEVER be time!! Haha!!)

Enough of my chatter for now and onto the fun bits!!

Here is the 1st canvas using the ever so cute “My Super Boy”.

The background was super easy to put together and I’m very happy with how they turned out! Both backgrounds are done in exactly the same way – just different colours.
First up, a coat of gesso to prime the canvas. Then some stamping with some Kaiser background stamps in black archival ink by Ranger. Then I used my modelling paste with a TCW stars stencil. When that was dry I grabbed my mustard colour shine and my red Kaiser mist and applied the colours to the canvas. They weren’t “mixing” as I wanted so I sprayed on some water and let that dry. I used pinterest to find quotes and came up with this for our this little guy and got hubby to print at work on the laser printer so the colour of the ink didn’t run when I used my matte medium to stick it down. I tried a new technique – not sure if I LOVE it or just LIKE it but it’s done! I used my black watercolour pencil with a little puddle of water to go around the strips of my quote. When that was all dry, some black inks splats and then I popped the little cutie up on some foam tape 🙂

The copic colours I used are as follows:

Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 and R20
Hair: E30, YR31, E33 and E35
Red: R22, R24, R29, R59 and C7 Blue: B12, B14, B16, B18 and B29
Yellow: Y13, Y15, Y17 and E18 Black: C5, C7 and C9

And a close up of that quote

And onto the 2nd canvas

Here I have used “My Batty Hero” – just LOVE him!!

I was going to only do this little guy for my little guys bedroom as we often refer to him as “Batbaby” – somehow we started a batman thing for him when he was little and it has STUCK!! He loves Batman so that is why I chose this particular quote!! And in saying that, he received for his 2nd birthday (August 2014) this gorgeous little guy on his birthday card from me and his daddy and if you would like to have a look I shared that card here.

The copic colours I have used are as follows:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 and R20
Hair: E53, E55, E57 and E59
Black: C1, C3, C5, C7, C9 and C10 Yellow: Y13, Y15, Y17 and E18

And again with the quote

So, make sure you head over to the Tiddly Inks challenge blog to see what all the other girls have come up with and perhaps you might even find some inspiration to enter your own make!!

Happy scrapping!!
