{Colour Blast} Gel Plate + Colour Shimmer Dust = FUN!

Hello, hello and welcome to my blog today!! Today’s share is for Colour Blast and it is more cards!!

I’m going to start this post will a little confession!! Last June I attended the Brisbane Craft Show and purchased a Gel Press plate – I couldn’t wait to get home and PLAY!! When I finally did play, let’s just say I was less than impressed with my end results so I put the press away with every intention of trying again “one day.” Well, that one day is here so I grabbed said gel press, white acrylic paint, ALL of my Colour Shimmer Dusts, brayer, stencils and paper and off I went!

I started by mixing my paint with my first colour choice of Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust. I mixed this well with a palette knife and applied to my plate with my brayer. I then grabbed my first piece of cardstock and pressed that straight onto the top rubbing firmly to get an impression.

Depending on how thick you do the paint and how much you press you can get multiple prints from the same paint layer.

Please remember, I was simply playing and I think I still have a long way to go!! I continued with the same technique a couple of times and then decided to add another colour for another layer.

Next up was Paris Colour Shimmer Dust. I did not clean my “palette” so got a deeper green than the Paris by itself would be. I was having so much fun brayering and pressing that I forgot to get a photo of that particular layer however you can see the colour in the next step.

I decided to try adding a completely different colour and this time grabbed the Sunflower Colour Shimmer Dust and white acrylic. You can see the left overs of the Paris on the plate to the left of the photo.

I added in some stencils using  the stencil almost like a stamp and impressing the stencil into the wet paint, removing the stencil and moving it all around the plate and then doing another impression for another layer of colour.

Each time I changed colour families I cleaned my gel plate. Also when I decided to add in the yellow I actually grabbed some old acetate/packaging to create a palette to mix the colour and apply to my brayer.

I couldn’t resist trying some pink so grabbed my Lollipop Colour Shimmer Dust and got mixing. I applied a layer of that to my plate and then did a little experiment. I grabbed my Sunflower Dust and sprinkled that in couple of places on the wet paint on the gel plate, added a small blob of acrylic, brayered that and then did an impression. This gave an intesting, much more saturated, effect to the areas where the Dust hadn’t completely mixed in.

By this stage I had done a number of prints and thought I should stop then and see what I had. I had also experimented yesterday to see if I could get my idea of Colour Shimmer Dust and acrylic to work so there a couple of extra book pages I did a couple of extra impressions on those. I chose some of the prints I thought I could work with and cut them down to card front size (10cm x 14.3cm) and here are the bases I cut. I also had enough from one of the prints to do 2 10cm square fronts as well.

I picked 3 I wanted to work with added a couple of more layers! Starting with Colour Paste in Bling to 2 of the card fronts.

When that was dry (I did give it a bit of a head start with the heat gun!) I added in some stamping with gold ink and also black ink. I also inked around all of the edges of the cards to give them a little bit of a defining edge.

I grabbed a few embellishments from my stash – Charms Creations, D-lish Scraps and Funky Flair Studio’s mostly – and stuck those on and mounted my card fronts onto cream card bases.

And a photo of each

If you know me well chances are you can pick my fave is the star one. Do you have a favourite??

I have filmed my process which will give you a better idea of the actual process (and just how messy I got 😉 ) which you can see here.

Now that I have broken the printing plate in I can’t wait to do some more playing and printing!! Do you have a gel plate you’ve been “meaning to get to”? Have a play, it is FUN!!

I hope you enjoyed this and I’d love for you to share if you create something inspired by this so please head over the Colour Blast Creative Corner on FB and share away!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

{Colour Blast} Spread Your Wings ~ A Mixed Media Card

Hi there, today I am sharing my latest DT project for Colour Blast Australia. I have created a card I made for a work friend who has left and started a new life for herself overseas!

Here’s a little peeky….

Here is my process video if you are interested in seeing this card come together

And read on for my step-by-steps

First up, after I cut my card front to size (10cm x 14.3cm) I grabbed this very pretty stencil from my stash (it is a Dusty Attic one) and my Bling Colour Paste. I’ll tell you a little secret here – I wasn’t 100% certain of where I wanted this card to go so I took inspiration from my last DT project and ran with it!

I let that air dry and then came back and started to add colour. I had already picked some pieces I wanted to use to embellish with so grabbed my matching colours in Sunshine and Tangereen Dream in the Colour Shimmer Cubes and clean cup of water. I added a little water over the top of the stencilling and then added my colour, moving the card stock around to get the colour to move and adding water/more colour when necessary.

I did get impatient and used my heat tool to dry that off so I could move onto my next step. Splatters! Using the same colours and paint brushes I added in splatters – Sunshine to the Tangereen side mostly and Tangereen to the Sunshine side.

When that was dry I grabbed a damp baby wipe and rubbed over my Colour Paste to get the Bling to pop once again without any additional colour on top! Did you know that you could do that??
It really makes the colours of the pastes pop once again!

Next up, I dumped all of my pretty things onto my base and decided I needed a dark pop of colour behind all the bits so I grabbed a mini doily from my stash and my Dusty Charcoal Colour Shimmer Cube.

I love having white options because it makes it so easy to customise colours for any project. I just used a paint brush and painted over the doily – be careful if you are doing this that you are not too rough or you may rip/tear the doily! I almost did!! Again, I used my heat tool to dry this off and then applied a second coat in the same way.

One last step before bringing it all together – splatters in Dusty Charcoal. Again, same as above but with a different colour. I love the contrast it gives and that darker colour really makes the whole design just pop!

And here is my finished card. I think my friend will love it – it is being hand delivered by another friend to Dubai next week! I added in some stamping in a dark grey ink and mounted my card front onto this fun and bright yellow card stock to finish it off!

Thanks as always for stopping by! I hope I have given you some inspiration for whatever you have currently sitting on your desk and I’ll see you again in couple of weeks! Please make sure you head over to the FB group, Colour Blast Creative Corner, to share all of your projects using Colour Blast goodies, we love seeing them and being inspired by you all!

Fab Friday with Precious

Hi there!!
Yep, it’s another Fab Friday with Tiddly Inks!! This is my 2nd last one as part of the DT team so I to be honest, I am a wee bit sad that my time is almost up!! That being said, I have had so, so, so much fun!!

So, onto the good stuff, my card!!

I used the gorgeous Precious digi stamp – I have been drooling over her for quiet some time but have not been brave enough to test my colouring skills but I gotta say, I love, love, love how she and the card turned out!!

And, of course, a close up of her 🙂

The copic colour combos I used are:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 and R20
Hair: YR14, YR18, E08 and E18
DRESS Blueish-Purple: BV20, BV23, BV25 and BV29 Green: YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97 and BG99
Cream: E40, E41, E43 and E44 Pinkish-Purple: RV91, RV93, RV95 and RV99

I have used papers from a freebie 6×6 paper pad I got yonks ago in a craft mag – Meg’s Garden “The Romantic Garden” paper stack. The colours work perfectly together!!

The flowers, the frame, the, stick pins, the doily and the purple flower tucked behind the layers are all from my stash. The sentiment was stamped with a tiny alpha stamp set I got from Typo ages ago and stamped in Dark Brown chalk ink.

And just a close up of that little cluster in the top left hand corner!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my creation for this Fabby Friday!!

Happy scrapping/colouring!!

Tiddly Inks Challenge #162 – Summer Song

Hi there Tiddly friends!!

Here today to share my take on the new challenge, “Summer Song”.

I came to my image in a very round-about way but hey, it’s what came to me!!

We are in the middle of Winter here in Australia at the moment and it is COLD – well, cold for here 😉 so it was harder for me to come up with something for this challenge than it normally is!!

My song was “Land Down Under” by Men At Work. This song makes me think of our beautiful country every time I hear it (I hear you say, “Well, der!!”) which makes me think of sunshine, warmth, summer, days at the beach and BBQ’s so I ended up using the gorgeous “Wryn the BBQ Queen” and love how this card turned out. Obviously, as the sentiment suggests, I am going to use this a Father’s Day card, we celebrate in September here!

Enough with the chatter and onto the card

I ended up doing another mixed media background which mostly ended up covered because, to be honest, I was not 100% happy with it but I am happy with end result! As always this little beauty was coloured with my copics and I have just pulled papers from my offcuts.

And the ever so gorgeous Wryn!

The copic colours I used:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 and R20
Hair: E11, E13, E15 and E18
Apron Blue: B91, B93, B95, B97 and B99 Orange: YR000, YR14 and YR18
Dress/Shoes/BBQ and BBQ Tools: C1, C3, C5 and C7
Sausages and Patties: E55, E57, E59 and E29
Grounding: W1, W3 and W5
Sky: B000, B01 and B02

That’s it for me for today, so, as always, thanks for stopping by and make sure you stop by the challenge blog to see all the other gorgeous makes by the other very talented girls on the DT!!

Happy scrapping and see you soon!!

Better Late Than Not At All….

Hi there!! I think you are lucky enough to be witness to 2 coloured cards today!! I can’t believe it!! Haha!! This will be the 1st of the 2 posts and the other is my Tiddly Inks challenge card as part of the DT.

I was away on scrap retreat over the weekend working on our PL album and have been colouring since I got home, around the kids and hubby and life of course 😉

The amazingly talented Krista from Saturated Canary is having a colouring contest that ends on 21st July (which is today here in Australia) using some of her absolutely gorgeous new “Decade Stamps”. I love them but could not resist the 40’s and 50’s girls!! Head over here to pick them up for yourself and over here to see the rest of the range – swoon!!!

Anyways, here is my card, I just HAD to go for my most fave colour combo for myself at the moment which is pink and navy.

I had lots of fun colouring her up with the no lines technique using, of course, my copics. I have pulled papers, flowers, lace and a doily from my stash and love how this card turned out!! All the edges have been inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and I just couldn’t resist some frantage!! Flowers are from my stash and I think they came from D-lish Scraps and I know those swirly gold thingys (technical name!!) came from D-lish. Pearls are from Freckled Fawn that I got in one of their embellishment kits way back when I was getting them.

The copic combos I used are as follows
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 and R20
Hair: E43, E44, E47 and E49 Eyes: B000, B05, B09
Pink Outfit: R81, R83, R85, R87 (tip to tip blending with R85 and R89) and R89
Blue Outfit: B91, B93, B95 and B99
Grounding: W0, W1, W3 and W5

So, as I said, I had a heap of fun colouring her up, though at this size, she was definitely a challenge! But, so, so happy with how she turned out!!

Thanks for stopping by and keep your fingers crossed for me for one of those vouchers that are up for grabs!!

Happy scrapping!!

Fab Friday with some Bunny Love

Hi there and welcome to another Fab Friday with Tiddly Inks!!

I’ve gone for a clean and simple card this fortnight as its school holidays here and this last fortnight has seriously just disappeared in a blur!!

I have used the adorable Somebunny Loves You digi stamp with my copics.

I knew that I wanted to do a CAS card so I printed Wryn a little bigger than I would ordinarily and set to work. I then pulled a sentiment stamp from my stash and some sequins. I have gone twice around the edge of the card front with white thread in my sewing machine then mounted that panel onto some pink cardstock (that I had scored for a different project and didn’t use but love how it added texture!) and then mounted that on a Not Quiet Navy (Stampin Up) card base.

A close up of my colouring that I have used the no lines technique on – I am still trying to master the art of no lines digi printing so it’s not completely “no lines” as such but I am so happy with how she turned out!!

The copic colours I have used are:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 and R20
Hair: E21, E25 and E29
Pink: R81, R83, R85 and R89 Blue: B99 and B95
Bunny Ears and Bunnies: W0, W1 and W3 R11 and R20
Grounding: W0, W1 and W3

Last but not least my sentiment 🙂 I have used the Not Quiet Navy ink to match the card stock – not stamped 100% perfectly, but, it’s all good.

I am so happy with how this card turned out!! I hope you have enjoyed your time here on my blog today.

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

Fab Friday with Tiddly Inks

Hi there!

A super quick share today (and a day late, oops!!) of my make for this weeks Tiddly Inks Fab Friday 🙂

I used one of the newer images “Magical Friendship” and had a heap of fun colouring this up, though it did take me ages as I have been unwell for the best part of the last month. I even did a background of clouds and am super happy with how they turned out!!

So, enough with the chatter and onto the good stuff 😉

I’m very sorry but I forgot to take note of the colours I have used though I do know that the mermaids hair is with BG11, BG13, BG15, BG18 and possibly BG49. And I think the clouds were using B000, B00, B01 and B02.

And just a little close up of these gorgeous characters! I have probably said it a hundred times before but I just adore Wryn, in all her forms!! She is so adorable!!

I have very simply stitched around the edge of the card front twice with some yellow thread and my sewing machine, mounted that onto some Pumpkin Pie card stock from Stampin’ Up with foam adhesive and then mounted that on Daffodil Delight card stock card base; also by Stampin’ Up (I adore this yellow!!).

So, that’s it for me for today!! I hope you like my make and thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Scrapping!

A Birthday Card with D-Lish Scraps Inspiration Board

Hi there! And sorry it has been so long since I blogged or shared anything!! I have been sick, my boys have been sick, my little guy is in a big bed and waking everyone up at stupid o’clock in the morning so trying to catch up with everything!! But I am here today to share a mixed media card that I made over the weekend for my Step-Dad for his 60th birthday!!

I saw this board with D-lish and just fell in love!! This is one of my most favourite colour combos EVER!!

Here is their board

And here is the card I created

I had lots of fun putting this together!

I started with a piece of water colour paper, applied a quick coat of gesso then grabbed my modelling paste and a Tim Holtz stencil. When that dried I got out my water colour paints and got to work on the background. It’s a bit hard to see in the photos but there is 2 different shades of yellow splatters in the background. Also, that arrow sticker has a bit of an ombre effect. Then I pulled out my “Clockworks” stamp set from SU and stamped away!

Once all the water colours were dried I grabbed out one of my sticker sheets from the use it or lose it box (funnily enough the same one I keep going for!!) which is where the black chalkboard sticker, the arrow sticker and the circle sticker all came from. Inked them all up in black ink to match the card front then found some scrap paper and cut around a tag, found a die cut which I coloured black with an ink pad, stamped the “birthday” and attached the “happy” with my tiny attacher.

I added some black and yellow thread for interest behind the sticker layers then used my hot glue gun to stick it all down. Oh, those little word stickers are from my stash, MME I think…..

And here is a close up of the details where the stickers are

So, as I mentioned I had a heap of fun making this little card and am entering it into the D-lish Scraps current Inspiration Board “Captured Moments”

Thanks for stopping by and I really, really hope to back soon with some more creations! I am having withdrawals!! haha!

Happy scrapping!!

Make a Wish Dreamy Dragon

Hello there my lovely followers!

Just thought I was well over due for a share so today I am sharing with you a card I made a little while ago for a very good friend of mine for her birthday.

I used a gorgeous stamp from Whimsy and it is called Dreamy Dragon.

I coloured the image 1st and then matched the colours with card stock etc that I had here at home so I don’t actually have any details for you except that I KNOW for sure that the pink ink I have used for the sentiment and the pink marker for the doodling is Melon Mambo from Stampin Up!

Without further ado here is the little cutie (if I do say so myself!!)

You can see much better in the close up that I have also done a stippled background around him. This was my very 1st attempt at stippling and I think I did a pretty reasonable job!!

I’m pretty sure that my friend not only got a little surprise with the arrival of this little guy but actually loved him!!

Thanks for stopping by to say hi and feel free to leave me some love 🙂
