CUT to YOU | Christmas Star

Hey everyone, I’m really excited to be sharing my latest creation for CUT to YOU! I have this super fun Christmas page to share featuring a 2019 photo.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_5251wm.jpg

This page features the very awesome “Star Light, Star Bright” cut file which has been embossed with gold glitter embossing powder. And I just love how it turned out!

I said it recently in another post, but in case you didn’t know, stars are totally my jam. My fave!! As I flipped through my photos and came across this one I knew straight away that I just HAD to cut it and that it simply HAD to be gold!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_5258wm.jpg

By happy accident my boy is wearing a teal-ish coloured shirt which, for me, is part of a perfect Christmas colour combo – red/teal/white/gold and in this case, silver too ;), so I totally embraced that and created a messy mixed media background with lots of different Lindy’s products.

Oh, and with teal in my colour scheme I simply had to include these gorgeous X and O Charms Creations!!!

I, of course, have a process video for which is below! Grab a cuppa, sit back and I do hope you enjoy!

I’ll leave with you a few close up shots!!

I hope that you have enjoyed my share today and that maybe I have inspired you to use a more non-traditional colour scheme for some Christmas pages πŸ˜‰ Make sure to head over here to the shop if you are looking for all of the stunning Christmas designs and make sure you have signed up here to the newsletter. It may be very worth your while to keep up to date with the CUT to YOU happenings πŸ˜‰

{Charm’s Creations Guest DT} My Sweet Boy ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey everyone and welcome to my blog this cold and wet weekend!

A quick share for you today sharing one of my makes for Charm as her guest designer for July. Which I have LOVED! And I plan on using MORE charms between now and the end of the month πŸ˜‰ Perhaps even more videos too πŸ˜‰

Anyways, I decided to play along with Charm’s June & July challenge of scraplifting a DT member and I chose one of Charm’s very own pages – I just love everything about her style and perhaps may have even found another page or 2 to hopefully lift πŸ˜‰

But here is the page I am lifting

And here is my take on this awesome page

I have pulled another of my fave Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections, More Than Words, and used one of my all time fave papers as the background and lots of pieces from the 6×6 paper pad for all those gorgeous layers Charm has used in her page. And those very pretty doilies!

Here are a few close ups, mostly of those gorgeous Pastel Glitter Hearts, aren’t they just gorgeous?!

I decided to give my title on this gorgeous yellow star. I’ve used a piece of veneer from another CVS collection and paired that with those AWESOME tiny white foam thickers.

I’ve tucked in a couple of labels and flair behind this very pretty star. And again with the white foam thickers cause the star was looking a little lonely!

And of course, more of those tiny foam thickers – I didn’t want this one all alone either πŸ˜‰ – on this gorgeous pastel green star.

I have a process video up for this page as well, just click on the link below and enjoy!!

Make sure you head on over to Charm’s FB page here and take a look in the girls albums so you can play along with scraplifting a DT member – so much inspiration in their albums!! And you can head over here to the Charm’s store to shop up a storm!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and see you again very soonΒ

{Charms Creations GDT} Kitten Love ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone and welcome to my blog today!

So the cat is out of the bag now and I am super excited to share that the incredible Charm from Charm’s Creations invited me to be a guest designer for the month of July and I jumped at the chance!

I do love me some of Charms gorgeous creations and I would be lying if I didn’t say that I may hoard them sometimes so when I got a nice little fat package I was super excited to not hoard!! lol

I started this page on recent retreat I was on and finished it off when I got home so no process video but a few photos!

These photos are of my big boy on our family Easter trip this year. We visited some friends on their property about 3 hours away from home and they had this adorable kitten which Jacob was totally smitten with the whole time we were away!

I decided to use a totally different colour scheme for me and ran with yellow and orange and I love it! Especially with those pops of that darker blue! I’ve used Distress Oxide Inks and the smooshing technique to create that background.Β

That chevron I just love, love, love and it ties in so beautifully with my whole page! This is one of theΒ Denim, Hessian & Tan Chevron’s that came in a mixed pack with also a star, arrow and heart.

I hope you enjoy and make sure you stop by again very soon for some more Charms love and perhaps I will even get more chance to play with some this month!

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

{Colour Blast} Hello Treasure ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hey, hey scrappers and happy Winter!! I am here today kicking off the June challenge which sure had me testing my boundaries!!Β

Here is my page that I created.

And in case you have not yet seen it the June challenge is here

And my process video can be seen below

Before I started this page I had the colour scheme in mind of black and white and yellow. So I tested a couple of different Colour Blast products for the yellow I wanted and the techniques I had in mind and settled on the ever fun Colour Shimmer Dusts!

Before I got into my 4 different techniques I used a dry brush (about 1″) and the White Heavy Gesso and applied a thin coat over the area on my yellow cardstock where I was going to do most of my designing.

After that was dry I activated my Colour Shimmer Dusts in Midnight and Sunflower, grabbed my extra “tools” and supplies and got to work.

I started with Sunshine Colour Paste. Swoon! I just LOVE this colour – in all of it’s beautiful mediums!! I paired that with a stencil and some clear acetate hearts inΒ  my stash (thank you Michelle Grant for your inspiration!!) and left that to dry over night.

Next, my first technique with the Colour Shimmer Dusts – stamping!! I simply used a paint brush and painted the Midnight Colour Shimmer Dust onto the stamp randomly and then mooshed my cardstock onto the stamp.Β

There was still quiet a fair amount of colour on the stamp so I flipped the stamp over and randomly stamped over area where the white gesso was.

I used my heat tool to speed up the drying process, I was eager to move onto my next step! This time I used the Sunflower Colour Shimmer Dust and the ever popular (and super easy!!) smooshing technique. A little of the activated colour painted onto some old packaging, flipped over and smooshed!

Be warned with adding the wet media over the top of what I had stamped my colour did re-activate! I had paper towels handy and quickly dabbed up the wetness which left me with a really cool effect and really soft yellow colour. You can see that better in the close up photo’s!

Technique 3 was splatters. Again I used a paint brush and splattered all around my page in both the Midnight and Sunflower colours. I used quiet a small brush for the midnight splatters. This I left to dry naturally as I had had another idea of what I was going to embellish with!

Finally technique 4 – painting!! I have again pulled out this awesome stamp set and settled on my title being “Hello Treasure” knowing I wanted to paint with the Shimmer Dusts. Another really simple technique and here’s a little tip – if you are doing this use watercolour paper!!! If you don’t the colour bleeds completely out of the lines!! Once this was dry I fussy cut this out and my other stamped word.

Time to put it all together! I’ve used those acetate hearts, a doily cut in half, some black and white tissue paper, some enamel shapes, a wooden button and a gorgeous yellow charm from Charms Creations. Oh, and white thread!

Me being me, I pieced everything before I stuck anything and decided just before sticking that I wanted some white splatters and my go to right now is some watered down Heavy White Gesso.Β

I really love how this page came together and I love the challenge this month – it really got me thinking!!

For those of you wondering this is NOT a current photo! This photo was taken in August 2012, 5 days before our youngest was born and like so many photo’s from my “I don’t think I’ll ever scrapbook” days has not yet been scrapped.

Here are a couple of close ups, the shimmer is really hard to get on camera but I tried!!

I hope this inspires you to play along with the June challenge – it is a super fun one and definitely a challenge!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

A Creative Journey – Part 3

Hello and welcome!!

I’ve stopped in today to share with you my art journal spread for this month! I was lucky enough to play along in Audrey’s beautiful journal and had so much fun with the “do whatever you feel like” theme!

Here is my completed page
And here are a couple of quick close up’s!

I have used a bunch of different products in the background but started off with an all time fave colour combo of mine in mind: Colour Shine in Citron, Navy and Teal πŸ™‚

A layer of gesso, some of that cool tape (I can NEVER remember what it’s actually called!!), texture paste through a stencil, background stamping and then COLOUR using my mists and also a bit more colour using another stencil and some Colour Paste by Colour Blast in Singin the Blues!

I have also added some of the Tim Holtz distress crackle in rock candy and then added some drops of navy colour shine.

I grabbed a couple of wood veneer from my stash and embossed them using a white with sparkles embossing powder and also those fun star and chevron pieces made by Charms Creations πŸ™‚Β

I’ve got my next journal sitting on my desk awaiting some different mediums, what am I going to do I wonder?! The theme is “A day in my life” which currently would be chaotic!! Haha, school holidays πŸ˜‰

Anyways, I will share when it’s done. Perhaps even another process vid πŸ˜‰

Thanks for stopping by, I really do appreciate the time taken and the comments left, they truly make my day each time I get that email!!

Happy scrapping!

Some wedding layouts!!

Hello there and welcome to my blog!!

Today I am sharing some 12×12 LO’s that I have recently put together of our wedding from 2008. Yup, only 7 years behind but I now feel confident enough to play with 12×12 layouts!! So all up there are 10 pages in our album and over the last month or so I have pulled 7 together!!

I will add here that a little while ago I pulled bits and pieces from my stash for a “wedding kit” which lives in it’s own separate little box so I have some idea what I have to hand to work in with the colours that I have chosen – well the colours that our wedding used πŸ˜‰ Pink, grey/silver, black and white. My current style also begged to have a few pops of gold and teal thrown in!! And I am also more than happy to use other bits from stash. I used this video from Shimelle Laine as a guide to pulling a kit together if you are interested in pulling your own kit together for either a special occasion or just get your stash used!

I will share them in order of creation starting with this page I pulled together for a NSD challenge I participated in over at the Scrappy Canary VIP Lounge FB group.

This is a photo of my 2 beautiful niece’s immediately after out ceremony sharing a little bonding moment as 2 cousins that had only met a few days prior.

And a couple of close ups

Next up is this layout that I scrap lifted from the amazingly talented Fiona Paltridge from this video on YouTube. This layout took me a few days to complete doing a bit here and bit there but I LOVE the way it turned out!! So happy with it!!Β

This layout took me completely out of my comfort zone – so many new things to try but like I said, LOVE how it turned out!!

And a few close ups

Next up are 2 layouts I created on a scrapbooking retreat I recently went to. Both were for challenges – one was a kit challenge – full of delicious Bella Blvd Colour Chaos goodies and the other was a colour challenge. Again, I’m really very happy with how both of these turned out!!

Both of these were inspired, again, by Shimelle Laine – I just adore her style and her classes! The 1st was inspired by a class called Hitchhickers Guide to Scrapbooking and one of the “starting points” she talked about. This was the kit challenge.

And a few close ups

And the 2nd from retreat was inspired by this “Glitter Girl” (aka Shimelle Laine) video.

Again, I’m really happy with how this one turned out too!!

Here are a few close ups

I just adore that Charms Creation heart – simply beautiful!!

And onto the last 3 layouts which again, were inspired by Shimelle Laine – this time her brand new class Ready Steady Scrapbook. I will share these in class order – so class 1 will be 1st, class 2 2nd and class 3 3rd πŸ™‚

And a couple of close ups

Class 2

And some close ups

And class 3

And I think this is my most fave of the 3 from the class! I love, love, love that the design is so simple and that those beautiful papers that I was “saving for that special page” are totally on display and used!!

A few close up’s of this one too and I’m done!!

So, that is it for me for today!!

I hope you have liked seeing what I have been working on and now our album is starting to look a bit more full!!

If you are looking for some fun and easy classes I honestly cannot recommend Shimelle’s classes highly enough!! Full of great information and lots and lots of ideas!!

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

Rawr Means I Love You in Dinosaur

Hello there!!

Well I am actually here to share with you today a 12×12 layout I did! Without any help at all either!!

I started this on retreat in May and knew that it needed something else and Charms Creations Sketch Challenge for May gave me the last little bit of inspiration I needed! Head over to her FB page (here) – she makes the gorgeous felt embellies I have used (the star and the banner) and runs challenges every month.
Without further ado here is my page of my gorgeous big boy at a birthday party last year.

I have used a Bazzill Range called Dino-Mite (don’t you just LOVE it!!) and the chevrons have been cut from a co-ordinating piece of 12×12 from the EP Brothers Mini Theme. The star and the flag are both from Charms Creations and my title is actually from a Little Yellow Bicycle Range called Babysaurus.Β

Here is a close up of the title – Jacob is ALWAYS roaring – to the point that after Hunter made his first words (mum-mum-mum then bub-bub-bub) ra-ra-ra qucickly followed!!

Needless to say, I am entering this page into this months sketch challenge – only my 2nd challenge ever!!

Thanks for stopping by!
