CUT to YOU | Christmas Star

Hey everyone, I’m really excited to be sharing my latest creation for CUT to YOU! I have this super fun Christmas page to share featuring a 2019 photo.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_5251wm.jpg

This page features the very awesome “Star Light, Star Bright” cut file which has been embossed with gold glitter embossing powder. And I just love how it turned out!

I said it recently in another post, but in case you didn’t know, stars are totally my jam. My fave!! As I flipped through my photos and came across this one I knew straight away that I just HAD to cut it and that it simply HAD to be gold!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_5258wm.jpg

By happy accident my boy is wearing a teal-ish coloured shirt which, for me, is part of a perfect Christmas colour combo – red/teal/white/gold and in this case, silver too ;), so I totally embraced that and created a messy mixed media background with lots of different Lindy’s products.

Oh, and with teal in my colour scheme I simply had to include these gorgeous X and O Charms Creations!!!

I, of course, have a process video for which is below! Grab a cuppa, sit back and I do hope you enjoy!

I’ll leave with you a few close up shots!!

I hope that you have enjoyed my share today and that maybe I have inspired you to use a more non-traditional colour scheme for some Christmas pages 😉 Make sure to head over here to the shop if you are looking for all of the stunning Christmas designs and make sure you have signed up here to the newsletter. It may be very worth your while to keep up to date with the CUT to YOU happenings 😉

CUT to YOU | Merry Christmas | A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone and happy 4 days before Christmas!! The big question, are YOU ready?! For a change, I think I am!! I can’t wait for Christmas morning with my boys, the joy and wonder on their faces is priceless!!

This is my last post pre-Christmas (I think lol) so I’d like to quickly take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas!! I hope that wherever you find yourself and however you celebrate you have a “good enough” day filled with more happiness and love than you wish for!

Now, onto my share for today, which is another Christmas 2017 page and I’ve used the beautiful Merry Christmas Script cut file from the CUT to YOU store.

I have, of course, used the digital cut file which meant I could make the cut whatever size I wanted and I, in fact, part designed my layout in the Silhouette software so I could get my cut file just the right size! You can pick up the Custom Cut file here.

Isn’t that photo of my boys just so cute?! This was taken last Christmas Eve, just before bed, after they said goodbye to Pixie (our Elf on a Shelf) and left milk and cookies for Santa. And carrots for the reindeer of course 😉

I have kept this page pretty simple. That big title, painted with black gesso and backed the stars with some gold glitter paper, paired with that gorgeous gold foiled paper for my background I thought looked so pretty together, I didn’t want to cover up too much!

I’ve pulled a bunch of stuff from my Christmas box mainly focusing on colour. I have some Teresa Collins tags and word phrase stickers, some flair from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and some stickers from Heidi Swapp. You can see how I store my Christmas supplies in my process video as I pulled it out to hunt through for pieces for this page.

The only mixed media I added was tiny black splatters with some ink and a little paint brush.

I added a couple of lines of journalling and my page is done!

Looking at these photos of my boys and seeing their faces on Christmas morning takes me back to my own childhood. The wonder, excitement and pure joy in the magic of believing and I just hope that they believe as long as I did. Or still do, but, shhhh, don’t tell anyone lol

I hope you have enjoyed this page and I will be back again very soon with another share, perhaps even before 2019 comes along. Which, just quietly, I have some sneaky, fun things planned coming in January, stay tuned!

Until next time, happy scrapping and have a safe, love filled Christmas!

CUT to YOU | Merry & Bright | A Scrapbook Layout

Wow!! It is practically the middle of December already and I cannot believe how quickly this month is flying by. Heck, 2018 has just disappeared! I hope you are managing to stay on top of the crazy this time of year, so far so good here, however school finishes tomorrow so my tune may change lol

Anyways, I am here today to share my latest creation for CUT to YOU and yep, it’s a Christmas page! This month CTY is again sponsoring the Scrap The Girls challenge blog with this inspiration board and I was inspired by the black dresses with the pops of those fun Christmas colours.

Here is my page

I have used the super fun Merry & Bright digital cut file for this page and built my whole design around it and am really happy with the way it pops off the black! I did try it on a couple of patterned papers and also on white but I really do love it on the black!

I knew I wanted to use the cut file right in the centre of the page so working on that idea I pulled out my white gesso, watered that down and added splatters all over my background. I then pulled out my gold mist and did the same. I left that to air dry and continued working on the rest of my page.

I really struggled at this point to find photo’s to scrap!! This was, after all, for Scrap The Girls, and the majority of my Christmas photos have at least one boy in them but after a bit of searching I found these silly Christmas Day (evening) Snapchat Elf photos of myself!

I backed the word and and also the star with some gold printed acetate (I may have stocked up on this, shhhh!!) and then left the cut file alone.

A few messy, textured layers behind my photo including some gold washi strips, some gold machine stitching all the way around the frame of the cut file and voila, my page was done!

I have a process video available for this page which you can watch below.

I did add a few extra bits and pieces after I turned off the camera including some gold holographic star stickers, a red chippy arrow and a little circle chipboard piece in black that says “hi” and then I was done!!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing this page come together and make sure you head over to the CUT to YOU store to get your hands on this awesome cutfile. Remember, you can buy it as a custom cut or as a digital cut file!

See you all very soon! Until then, happy scrapping!!

K+ December | Stitched Christmas Cards

Hello, hello and welcome once again to my blog!

Today I have my next December share and this one is for the very awesome K+ Needles and Pins challenge for the month!

It took me a little while to work out what I was going to do for this because I do love to stitch on my pages; both hand stitching and machine stitch. But this month I thought I would give my sewing machine a bit of a work out and make some cards!

What do you think?!? I just LOVE how these guys came out in the end! And they were fairly simple to create too, BONUS!

You can see my process (sorry, not my machine stitching, my machine is on the other side of my craft room) below if you’d like to see them come to life!

Here are some photos of each of my cards

And head over here for both the rest of the DT inspiration (oh my, total gorgeousness!!) and to load up your take on this month’s fun challenge. I can’t wait to see where this challenge takes you!

I hope you have enjoyed my share today and until next time, happy scrapping!!

STB December 2018 | Naughty or Nice | A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone and happy December!! Yikes, December already!!!

My first share for the month is my take on the Scrap The Boys December challenge and though this page is different for me I really love it!

I was inspired by the title on the graphic for this month so ran with that!! What better thing to scrap than a photo of a child with Santa?! So I pulled out one of my page kits and got to work and here is my finished page.

It’s a very clean page for me but with a few layers. I especially love the colour scheme which I may not have come up with had I not gone through my scrap box to make up my kits! And I love the different alphas I got on the page with my title!

Here are a few close ups of my page

And my process video link

Please, if you have not yet hit that subscribe to my YT channel button, do so! I am only 10 subbies away from that elusive 1000!!

You can find all of the rest of the rather amazing DT pages over here on the STB blog and make sure you head back there to load up your take on this months fun challenge.

I have another share coming up very soon so make sure you pop back for that one! Until then, happy scrapping!

{Colour Blast} Special Delivery OTP Project

Hey, hey Colour Blasters! Melinda here with you today sharing a little Christmas project with you! I know that the big day has been and gone but I had lots of fun creating this and it was SOOO easy and quick that I HAD to share 😉

I purchased the box from my local K-Mart and was inspired by another box also made by K-Mart but I was unable to pick up the one I was after so I DIY’ed it!!

First up I cut a cut file on my cameo. This cut was cut diagonally across my 12×12 piece of cardstock (I chose a colour I wouldn’t use!) so I could make it a wee bit longer which turned out to the be the perfect size! I also cut a bunch of snowflakes so that I had a snowflake stencil!

Next up, I laid my stencil where I wanted it, grabbed my Colour Paste in Bling and got to spreading the colour across my cut file – using it like a stencil. I took a progress shot but it has vamooshed so you can see exactly what I mean in the next step as it is essentially the exact same thing!

I left my Colour Paste to dry over night and then did my next step this  time using my Snow White Colour Paste and my snowflake stencils. Again,  I just spread the colour through the stencil and left to dry!

While it was drying I got brave and added some splatters, hoping desperately that I didn’t mush any of that wet Colour Paste. I used my Colour Shimmer Cubes in Fire Engine and Bling and LOVE how that added a tiny pop of colour and a little more randomness!

Again that was left to dry overnight and I am seriously in love with the finished project! My boys don’t know that I made it as our Scout Elf Pixie turned up with it on 1st December filled with Advent Calendars and a letter from Santa!!

I (ok, ok, and Pixie!!) have found a couple of other uses for it over the month of December and love that it is now something we have that I can use each year!

Pixie used it to stack all of our Christmas books in one morning.

My littlest guy used it for reading!! He sounded out each letter of the word Santa and announced “Santa” afterwards! Kinda took me by surprise but man, it was CUTE!

And on Christmas Eve Pixie turned up IN the box with our Christmas Eve PJ’s and a couple of other things she brings each year on her last day with us!

I have a super short and sweet process video for this if you are interested! Just click play below!

I hope that however you celebrated it that each and every one of you had an AMAZING Christmas Day spent with those you love. Wishing all of you the very best for 2018 and I’ll see you in the new year! Until then, happy scrapping!!

{Colour Blast DT} Secret Santa Gift Tags

Hi there my lovely followers! I am here with you today sharing some fun Christmas tags I made for my family Secret Santa gift exchange!

I seriously had a lot of fun putting these together and just playing so I really cannot recommend highly enough JUST PLAYING! It’s so fun and you never know, you may make your most fave thing ever!

If you would like to see my process click on the link below for my process video, otherwise read on for my step-by-steps!!

First up I cut some tag shapes with my Silhouette Cameo (you could do the same with either a die, some pre-cut tags or even hand cut your own tags) onto plain white cardstock. I used my sketch pens and I font I LOVE to write out everyone’s name knowing I wanted to water colour them.

I left the tags attached to my mat so that I could easily keep track of all the bits and took it over to my work space and got to work.

First up some grey chalk ink with a Darkroom Door background stamp (Christmas Script) randomly stamped across all the tags.

I then grabbed the gorgeous Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust, added a little to an empty ephemera pack with a little water and used a little paint brush to colour the names on each of the tags.

I used some of the left over mix to add splatters across all the tags and when that was dry moved onto the colour paste.

I grabbed a little stencil from my stash and my Steel Colour Paste and again, added that randomly through the stencil across all the tags.

I knew I wanted to include pops of red so I grabbed out some packaging and my Love Colour Spray to do the trusty packaging technique to add some pops of red.

I used the nozzle to apply some splatters of the Love across all the tags as well.

I decided to add a flair to each tag so grabbed a few from my stash along with some red sewing thread to make a little nest for each flair.

After they were all attached I decided I wanted a little more sparkle so grabbed my Steel Colour Shimmer Spray and added some splatters with the nozzle.

A couple of finishing touches including red and white twine and some sequins and 8 tags ready to go!

I’m really pleased with how these turned out and best of all I really did have a lot of fun creating them!

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas Day celebrations and perhaps some of you even found some Colour Blast goodies under the tree?!

I can’t wait to share my next post in the New Year so until then, stay safe, celebrate in style and get messy!

{Colour Blast DT} Christmas Cards

Hi there! I’m here with you today sharing this “set” of 6 christmas cards I made using some awesome Colour Blast products!

I had so much fun playing and am super happy with how these cards came out. Playing with the black cardstock was a bit of a challenge but FUN!

I do have a process video which you can see below or you can head to my YouTube channel here. I also have some step by steps below!

First up I picked out one of my 12×12 stencils and a couple of colours of Colour Shimmer Spray that I wanted to use. I had a handful of embellishments I have in my stash that I wanted to get used so kinda matched to those using the Bling Shimmer Spray and Deep Water Shimmer Spray.

I randomly sprayed the 2 colours through the stencil on the whole 12×12 piece of cardstock until I was happy with the colours. I did soak up the excess colour on top of the stencil by applying a 2nd piece of black cardstock and rubbing gently to get a stamped image.

When that was all dried I used the nozzle from the 2 bottles and sprinkled some splatters randomly across the page.

I dried that off with my heat tool and then cut my cardstock down to card front size – 10cm x 14.3cm – ready to add my layers!

I did fiddle around a bit with all the bits I wanted to use but managed after a little bit of back and forth to come up with designs I was happy with.

I felt that I needed a little extra in the background behind my layers so grabbed my Snow White Colour Paste and another stencil from my stash and applied some colour using a palette knife roughly behind where the clusters were going.

I let that dry naturally, which really didn’t take very long at all and then stuck all my pieces down!

I decided that the tag on this needed a little bling so I grabbed my Bling Embossing Powder and embossing ink and stamped a little sentiment.

I used a mix of double sided tape and wet glue to stick everything down, I wanted to make sure nothing moved.

Here are the completed cards and like I said earlier, I’m super happy with how these turned out and had so much fun!

I only recently discovered the beauty of the Shimmer Sprays on dark cardstock and if you have yet to have a play I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Please make sure you head over to our FB group here and share all the wonderful creations you make!

Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!!

And finally a start!!

Hello, hello and welcome to my 1st official post about my Documentung December 2015 album!

Firstly, for those that don’t know or would like the link I am using the beautiful kit from The Stamp Spot as Michelle asked me if I would like be a part of her DD team again. I couldn’t resist, especially after learning her colour palette and working with the full to busting kit last year!!

Here are some shots of the kit but for the whole comprehensive list head over here and there are lots of photos and words (I just ogled the photographs if truth be told!!). And you can purchase the kit here.

And here is my work space. I hope that it stays somewhat like this throughout December!

I plan on printing every day after my boys go to bed and doing that days spread. I know some days life will happen and there may be a few that don’t go quiet to plan but a little pre-organisation proved its worth a thousand times over last year!

I have yet to fully unpack my kit and sort it so I have easy access throughout the month but this is where my kit will live. I got this cute tray from spotlight.

I haven’t had much of a chance as yet to do much in the way of prep but I did pull out my diary, my previous 2 DD albums, some post-it notes, my 2015 album (which is a gold 6×8 PL album) and page protectors. Oh, and a pen 😉

As you can see there a few things already scheduled in. For example on the 5th a group of my scrappy friends and I have decided to do a Christmas Scrap, secret Santa and everything, so I know that that’s the story I want to tell for that day. Assuming I only use 1 side of the page protector (I’m totally flexible about this!) day 6 will be on the back side. I have pulled out the gold numbers from the Heidi Swapp pack included in the kit and popped those numbers into the page protector.
For other things that I don’t have a date for but I know I want to include I have just written a note and popped into a page protector. A lot of those things will be just slotted in around the day to day stories I will tell and the already booked in things.

And for anyone that is new to my Documenting December journey, our albums, though they are heavily Christmas influenced, are about our December. Not specifically Christmas related. Both of my previous years albums include photo’s from my big guy’s last day at school fro the year, some charming moments between my kids, an enlarged photo of my Pop that passed away last year (no doubt there will be some mention again this year and quiet possibly many to come) and last year I documented the entire December so there was some photo’s and stories from our mini family holiday 🙂

I can’t wait to get started but how I wish this year would slow down just a little!!

That’s it for me for now. If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will get back to you!! And make sure you head on over to The Stamp Spot to pick up your kit before they are all gone!!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!!
Mel
