CUT to YOU | Happy Together | A Scrapbook Layout

Hello my scrappy friends!! As the month of love rapidly comes to a close I have another lovey-full-of-hearts page to share with you!

This is another page for CUT to YOU and I have used the beautiful “Love Me Some Hearts” cut file which is available here on the website and here on the Etsy store.

I have filled most of my white card stock background with and sent to cut.

I picked this gorgeous ombre blue patterned paper from CVS for my background so knew I didn’t want to cover too much of it up or distract too much from it so I kept it pretty simple and just misted and painted the whole file in gold.

I have used the 3 biggest hearts for the photo’s I wanted to use to tell my story. I have cut those to shape and stuck behind my cut file.

As I knew I really wanted that cut file and photos to pop the rest of the page is really fairly simple but I just love the end result! I chose a few random hearts to back using some gold printed newspaper print vellum (which I may be hoarding every single scrap of!!) from my stash to add a bit more gold and subtle pattern.

I used some CVS Love Always wood veneer for my embellishment and part of my title and some of the same collection ephemera to finish off my title and add some butterflies.

A few sparkly black enamel dots from the same CVS collection. 3 triangles of 3 around my photos and embellishments.

I added my journalling using a white pen and my final touch was some white splatters using Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray.

And that is it for me for today!
I do have a process video for you which you can watch just by clicking the play button below

Make sure you head over to the CUT to YOU shop to check out all of the beautiful February releases and make sure you head back really soon for the soon to come March releases – oh la la <3<3<3

I hope you have enjoyed and I will be back again with another layout share very soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy scrapping

I like totally love you

Hello there lovely followers!!

Im here today sharing a LO I made over the last couple of days. I have used predominately Shimelle Laine goodies – I just love her 1st 2 ranges with American Crafts!!

I flipped through my stack of photos to scrap and came across this one of hubby and I pre-wedding.

I started with some texture paste from Dusty Attic and a mini stencil from Heidi Swapp on some watercolour paper. Then 2 Heidi Swapp colour shine colours (sweet cherry and coral) were used with water and I pretty much applied them the same way I would water colour paints behind where the photo was going and the bottom left corner. Some stamping using a clear stamp from Heidi Swapp and some roller date stamps with black archival ink. I added some gold thread behind all the paper layers, stuck them down and then did my sprinkles in black, gold, sweet cherry and gold colour shines.

Next I went with some paper layers from the 1st Shimelle collection (the pink/coral/cream diagonal stripe, the cream/black dot, the other cream/pink/coral paper is actually the paper with all the numbers on it, the green map print and some of the filmstrip paper) and then I pulled a couple of scraps from my scrap box – a floral from Maggie Holmes Open Book and and another that I have no idea of brand or anything!! Oh and the background woodgrain paper that is also part of the layers is from Bella and I picked it up from Spotlight.

I heat embossed my title using a Heidi Swapp stamp and gold embossing powder – my photo did have a little reaction but not enough to stop me using it! You can see it in the close ups!

The 2 is fussy cut from the numbers paper and all the flowers and the tab are from the Shimelle sticker book 🙂

You can see above where my photo bubbled a little!!

So, thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

September (already?!?) with Dusty Attic

Hi hi! I’m here with you today sharing my projects for September for Dusty Attic!! September, really?! How did that happen?

Anyways, I have 2 projects to share this month – a traditional 12×12 LO and a double page spread with a 12×12 and a PL style page for my littlest guys album.

First up my 12×12 LO! I have had this idea in my head for ages now and am so pleased I finally got it done!! I made a collage of some of my favourite photo’s from 2014 for the cover of my 2015 diary and also had the same collage printed as a 6×6 photo for this page.

I have used the Simple Stories Daily Grind range, which I thought was the perfect fit for this type of page!! I got the collection pack so have all the papers and a couple of sticker sheets.

I applied a messy coat of gesso after I stuck some of the papers down and then applied some mist using some plastic packaging and “stamping”. Some stamping with black archival ink, some layers behind my photo, a “flip”, some magnets and of course those gorgeous Dusty pieces which I have applied some versamark ink and gold embossing powder to.

As I mentioned, a “flip” mechanism (simply a piece of scrap cardstock scored in half, the ends trimmed into a “v” shape and then adhered to the layers where it can’t be seen) which holds my journalling and also includes a photograph of my Pop who passed away in December 2014. I have cut a slit in my page protector so that it is easy enough for people to read the journalling when (heck, IF!) they flip through it. I have also hidden some little, very strong magnets in the paper layers so that it all sits nicely when closed.

A close up of the chippy pieces in the top left corner

And the chippy piece that is peeking out from under the photo layers

The chippy pieces I have used are as follows:

2014 Year In Review – DA1092
Mini Captions #1 – DA1279
Mini Captions #2 – DA1291H

So, onto my other project for this month!

These are the pages for Hunter’s album for March 2015.

As I have mentioned previously I am (slowly!!) working on my boys albums in a month to month format to capture their personalities, quirks and developments. I aim for 1 traditional LO and 1 PL style LO for the month so 2 12×12 pages all up.

Here are both pages together as they sit in the album

I have used the Heidi Swapp September skies PL kit, ephemera and one of the 12×12 sheets of paper.

The left side

I love, love, love how this turned out!!

Firstly I did some work on the background of that paper. I applied a light, messy coat of gesso with my finger then applied the mists and gelato colours I knew I was going to use on the chippy piece (which are Heidi Swapp navy and peacock colour shine and a green gelato from my stash) again using the plastic packaging/stamping technique. Then I did some splatters all around and finally some stamps using a couple of roller date stamps and black archival ink.

I have applied the mists and gelato that I have watered down to use as water colours to that background chippy piece after applying a coat of gesso. A couple of coats of white paint to the title pieces, some ephemera pieces, some of the little squares from the cut apart sheet in the 6×6 paper pad and some enamel dots.

A closer look at the centre of the page where most of the design is

And a close up of the background chippy piece

And the title pieces

I realised after I took the photos that there was no journalling so I have tucked a little shipping tag near the top at the back of the LO which also has some twine so people flipping through can see it’s there.

And the right hand PL side

I didn’t really take any photo’s of the individual pockets but I really LOVE how my title card turned out – simple, yet effective so here you go!!

The chippies pieces I have used are as follows:
Triangle Panel Small – all of the mini triangles have come from this
Mini ABC Upper – DA0861N
Mini ABC Lower – DA0862
Love You Arrows – DA1070O
Mini Captions #5 – DA1308I
Word Pack #6 – DA1187

That’s it for me for today but make sure you pull out your chippy and play along with the (yet another!!) gorgeous inspiration board for your chance at a $100 Dusty Attic voucher!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

My last Fab Friday with Tiddly….

Hi there!! And welcome! It has been a little while since my last post, life has happened, my littlest little guy just turned 3 and I have hurt my back again. Oh well, life goes on and sadly, so do DT terms!

I am here today sharing my very last card for my term on the very awesome DT over at Tiddly Inks! Very bitter sweet as this team was one of those items on my “to-do” list for my crafting! I decided not to apply for another term straight away but I have no doubt I will through my ring into the hat again sometime!!

Christy, if you are reading, thank you so much for the opportunity over the last few months, I have had so much fun and it has been a real pleasure “working” on your team!!

Enough of the chatter though and onto the card!!

I have used my one and only clear Tiddly Inks stamp set for this card – Happy Day and I just love how this card came together!!

Another very CAS card but I really love how this turned out!! I have already given this out – it was my Nan’s birthday last week so I thought this was perfect for her. I personally love the bright pops of colour!!

The copic combos I used are:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 and R20
Hair: E41, E43, E47 and E49
Dress: BG11, BG13, BG15 and BG18 Frill/Socks: C0 and C1
Red: R22, R24, R29, R59 and C5 Yellow: Y11, Y15, Y17 and E15

I pulled some papers, some thread and some enamel dots from my stash that went well with the colours I coloured with. The sentiment is from the stamp set, punched with an Ephipany tools 1″ circle punch with an epoxy dot stuck to the top. Last touch was some gold colour shine sprinkled across the card front.

I really have had so much fun with Tiddly Inks so if you are included do throw your hat into the ring, Christy is awesome to “work” (I use that term VERY loosely!!) for and Lou is pretty fabulous too!!

Happy scrapping!!

Always

Hello, hello!! Well, it seems even though my desk currently looks like a bomb hit it I am being super productive lately!!

I have just completed another 12×12 layout – start to finish in 30 minutes – AMAZING!! I may add some stitching, but I will decide later!!

I am here today however to share a different 12×12 LO I created, another for our wedding album and another using an awesome cut file from The Cut Shoppe. I am using this to enter a 2nd time into their monthly challenge for August! Perhaps there will even be a 3rd as I am pretty impressed with my forethought when I created this LO!!

As you can see when I cut the file “Spread Your Wings” I put it pretty much where I thought I wanted it to be on the layout so that I could use the positive cut and the negative cut! I am really pleased with how this turned out and am really excited to use those butterflies on something!!

I found some of the same frangipani printed vellum in my stash that we used on some of our wedding stationery and chopped it down to fit behind that cut. Love how it turned out!!

After I stuck the vellum down I placed the cut butterflies back into where they were cut from so that I could stick down all the little in between cuts. That is probably what took the longest in putting this LO together.

I have used the Maggie Holmes Flea Market 6×6 paper pad for my layers behind the photo along with the black and white striped fabric frame from the same range. All of the paper layers expect the floral are actually the strip from along the top of the papers that kept them in place in the paper pad!

I kept the embellishing pretty simple, I wanted the photo and that cut to be where your eye goes to first and foremost. I didn’t really have anything to say with this photo so a simple title and somewhere for one of my fave wedding photos to call home now!!

So, thank you for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

July with Dusty Attic

Hi there! Melinda here with you today with my share for July.

I have spent the past 5 weeks or so sick and with zero motivation so I have just the one project to share this month but I must say, I am very happy with how it turned out!!

First off, I would like to share that my inspiration for this whole layout actually came from a piece of chippy that I had coloured a few months ago but decided not to use which was this piece:

I didn’t realise as I prepped the rest of my pieces but I actually sprayed this without 1st coating in gesso so it is a slightly different colour to the rest of my pieces but you can’t really tell!!

I have used both Citron and Teal colour shine sprays to colour up all my pieces after I gessoed them and then used those colours to pull cards and some other bits and pieces which most ended up coming from the gorgeous Heidi Swapp September Skies range with a couple of the teal glitter buzz word stickers also finding their way onto the spread. I also added some of those pops of navy that are in the collection. After all the chippy was coloured and dried I applied a quick coat of the Dusty Attic clear varnish 🙂

So, enough with the chatter onto the good stuff

Here is the double spread. I wasn’t able to get that lime green to photograph as bright as it is in real life but I hope to be working on a light box of some sort with hubby very soon!!

The left side and the colours a little better 🙂

Some close up’s of all the chippy pieces – I just love, love, love those little butterflies, they are so very cute!!

And here is the right side. Including 2 more of those flip pockets that I just LOVE!!

The top flip opened – I would say sorry for the change in photo quality but it is actually better!! I realised as I was uploading that I hadn’t snapped a couple of pics!

This photo is on the inside of the top flip pocket – on the left of the above photo.

An extra close up of this little cluster cause I really love how it turned out!!

The inside of the bottom 6×6 flip pocket

And one last close up!!

Dusty chippy used:

Mini ABC Upper – DA0861N
Mini Captions #1 – DA1279
Mini Captions #5 – DA1308I
Mini Captions #2 – DA1291H
Love You Arrows – DA1070O
Page Pebbles #4 – DA1108A
Weeks – DA1283O
Mini Butterflies #2 – DA0893
Mini Number Set – DA0863
Clear Gloss Varnish – DA0901

I also just wanted to share with you what I did with my overspray when I sprayed my chippy cause I am so happy with how it turned out!!

All I did was lay all my chippy pieces across the pages and spray away!! I had already prepared the pages with a coat of gesso so the colour didn’t get sucked in by the paper straight away which gave me enough time to move my chippies, add a bit more colour, some water, tip it up, then add some more colour, then the navy colour shine, then some more water, then tip it etc, etc, etc until I ended up with this!! I totally LOVE it! I have no idea what I am going to add next but after lots of experimenting I discovered that I could seal the colour shine by 1st applying a coat of hair spray, letting that dry overnight then applying a coat of clear gesso!! Thanks to Jen for the tip about the hair spray 😉

So, on that note that’s it for me for today! I hope you like my pages, I had lots of fun playing!! I hope to have a much more productive July than I did June!!

Make sure you join in the fun of the Dusty Attic inspiration board this month for your chance at the $100.00 voucher for lots of yummy chippy goodies!!

Happy Scrapping!

April with Dusty Attic

Hi there and welcome to my Dusty Attic share for the month of April!

A little different this month as I am so far behind in our PL album and have lots of things buzzing around in my head!!

First up a 12×12 layout that I have put together as Dusty Attic are a sponsor this month over at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. I have used the Case File #161 to document my personal weight loss journey.

Here is the Case File

And head over here (you may need to sign up for a free account) to see mine and all the other designers who have played along using this file for inspiration! I personally cannot wait to play along again, stepped me out of my comfort zone but it was so much fun and made me think a little!!

I absolutely loved the colours in the inspiration image and here is my take
I have used a wet medium (modelling paste and mists), triangles (the background paper), ombre (the background paper again and I’ve also played with 2 colours of mist going from light to dark) and something that flies (the feathers that I have stencilled on and also the DA chippy feathers).

The yummy Dusty pieces I have used are:

I have applied a coat of gesso to all of the chippy pieces and then used my Heidi Swapp Colour Shine mists in coral and sweet cherry as both mists and watered down as water colour paints. I have also used those 2 colours and the Navy watered down (2 lots, 1 with more water than the other) as water colours to add colour to the flowers.

And just a few close ups of some of the details on the page. I seriously adore those mini feathers and will have to stock up on them since I have run out!!

My journalling says “Remember how far you’ve come not just how far you’ve got to go. 1.2kg to goal!!” as this layout was exactly about the journey and not so much how far I have left.

My 2nd project for the month is a card that I made for hubby who’s birthday is 14th March 🙂

I started a mixed media class last month so thought I would have a bit of a play and this was the result!. I totally love it! I have used almost a whole pack of the Mini Cogs from Dusty as well as some of the chevrons from the Chevrons Small pack.

And just a couple of close ups. This card was so much fun to make and I seriously cannot wait to get messy again soon!

And onto project #3 for the month 🙂 Our week 8 in our Project Life album.

I have used a combination of the Maggie Holmes Open Book PL kit and the Maggie Holmes Flea Market 6×6 paper pad paired with the gorgeous Dusty Attic pieces and some bits and pieces from the Open Book ephemera packs.

First up, both pages as they sit in our album 🙂

The left hand side.
It’s difficult to tell clearly in the photos but all of the chippy has been painted gold and I just love how it turned out!! You can see more the colour clearer in the close up shots 🙂

I absolutely love those little hot air balloons!!

And onto the right hand side 🙂

It’s  not often that I have a space for a “filler” card but I was so excited to have one this week!! I very simply layered some washi, some pieces from the ephemera pack and then topped that with another of those gorgeous gold hot air balloons!

And I think this is my most favourite card for this week. I love the way it come together and as soon as I picked out that 3″x 4″ card it just worked!!

The Dusty chippy I have used this month are as follows:

Well, that is it for me for April! I can’t actually believe how quickly the time is flying!! I hope you have enjoyed my shares for the month, happy crafting and make sure you take advantage of the free shipping at the Dusty Attic store this month!!

March with Dusty Attic

Hi there!!

This post is a wee bit special, it is number 100!! Wow! I’m impressed with myself for getting 100 posts done! AND there are even a couple in draft format!! So, I am celebrating just a little!!

Today I am here to share with you my projects for March for Dusty Attic! I have 3 to share today, a PL “end” page, an 8″ x 10″ canvas gift and a mini holiday PL spread! I hope you enjoy and I will warn you, there are a few photos!!

Here is my 1st layout for the month

As the “title” of the page suggests this is our final page for our 2014 Project Life album. Pretty simple but that was how we spent New Year’s Eve and I thought a simple, yet effective “end” to the album fitted perfectly!

My little family and I headed away from home on the 27th December for a much needed mini holiday in the beautiful Margaret River, approx 4 hours from home. Wine, cheese, the beach and a beautiful little “home” for the 6 days we were away. We spent NYE in our little cabin. The boys went to bed around their normal bedtime and hubby and I enjoyed a local bottle of rose along with some local cheese and crackers. This photo was taken from our porch while we enjoyed the quiet and each others company.

A close up on the embellies on the title card – an arrow from Heart Arrows #1 and numbers from Mini Number Set that I have spritzed with pink and mustard colour shine by Heidi Swapp. After that was all dried I did a little bit of stamping with a watermelon colour inkpad. Somehow that “permanent” ink didn’t stay where it was put when I applied the clear varish but I am happy with the effect it has given! I stuck those pieces down to the 6″ x 4″ transparency and added 3 sequins and voila, a closing page for our 2014 album!

Oh, and if you love the idea of big photos in your PL I highly recommend popping over here to see the tutorial that I used to learn how to crop my pics in PSE the quick and easy (and cheap!!) way!!

Onto my 2nd project for the month!

This is an 8″ x 10″ canvas that I created for a family friend that I have known since childhood. After all we grew up next door to each other!!

As usual I used my copics to colour up this gorgeous stamp “You and Me” from Tiddly Inks. This is the 2nd time I have coloured up this cute couple and I had a heap of fun testing out all my “new found” colouring skills!

I have used the “no lines” technique here and the colours I used are as follows
Skin tones on both: E000, E00, E21, E11 and E04 R20 for blush
Bride
Hair: E21, E25 and E29
Dress: C0, C1, C3 and C5 Also I have used the clear wink of stellar marker all over the dress
Groom
Hair: E71, E73, E75 and E79
Suit: W1 W3, W5, W7, W9
Shoes: C3, C5, C7, C9 and a white molotow marker

A close up of the chippy I used. String of Hearts Frame Set and again the Mini ABC Set Uppercase. I originally had all the chippy sprayed with the seafoam colour shine spray but it all blended a bit too much together so I sprayed straight over the top of the alphas with the primrose colour. I was so impressed by how well the chippy pieces took the extra layer of colour and am very happy with how they turned out!

And a few close ups!! A heap of the flowers have come from D-lish Scraps and some others are from my stash that I had thought I would never use!!

I had so much fun stepping out of my comfort zone for this project and super happy how it turned out! Even better, the bride loved it!! Winning!!

Onto my last project for this month. Another spread in our PL album. Again this is still our 2014 album (yep, I did the end page before the album was completed!!) and I have used a “panoramic” page protector design in Design A which looks something like this.

I have photographed my spread all the way open, both front and back but as you can see, the right side (when looking at the front!) folds back over so it fits perfectly into a standard 12″ x 12″ album!

That is both the front and back of the page. As you can probably work out I have documented the 2014 part of our mini holiday. We returned home on 2nd January 2015 and the few photos from those days are included in our 2015 album.

I used a disk from Word Disks #1 which I have coloured with citron colour shine spray and then coated with clear varnish. Which I have done with all the pieces on this spread.

On this card I have used the citron and teal colour shines together for an ombre greeny to teal colour. I have used Mini Words #1, again the Mini ABC Set and the Teeny Tiny ABC Set.

Here I have used the Mini Mason Jars which I painted white and coloured the lid silver with a silver sharpie marker. I then cut out the glass shape from vellum to give the “right” sort of look to the glass. Used my Copic multi liner to add in the lines, added the enamel heart sticker and stuck it to my card. No varnish here 😉

The cheeky from Word Pack #6 which again I have used both the citron and teal colour shines on.

One of my favourite things about PL is I can just run with the photos I have. Yep, my big little guy has his eyes closed but that is ok. That is how it happened. The lighting is pretty terrible but again, we were in a cave so yep, that’s how it happened! I have used the word memories from the Mini Words #1 pack and again, citron and teal colour shined!

Here I have used an arrow from the Love This, Love That Arrows pack and yep, you guessed it teal and citron colour shine again.

A pebble from the Page Pebbles #8 set. Colour shine, yep! Then I again used my copic multi liner to trace the words again to make them pop and then varnish over the top of the whole thing.

Last but not least another word from the Mini Words #1 pack, colour shined and varnished!

Make sure you head over to the Dusty blog and have a play with this months inspiration board for your chance at a $100 voucher to the store!!

As always, thank you for stopping by and happy scrapping!!
