{ScrappingClearly} Tis The Season ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey, hey ScrappingClearly friends, Melinda here with you today with something a little different for you!!

Here is a sneaky peek

Any guesses as to what I’ve created?! Or been inspired by??

If you guessed this month’s mood board you would be 100% correct! I was REALLY inspired by all of the Halloween-y type imagery and the colours, though I couldn’t find a way to include the blue.

Here again if you haven’t seen it is the mood board

And my completed project!

This is in a shadow box type product that hubby threw together with some spare MDF and because he made a stack I grabbed one super quick and got to creating! The frame was sprayed with some matt black spray paint and left to dry while I created my page!

I have used 3 patterned papers for this – My Mind’s Eye – On Trend 2 – Little Things (the orange words) and 2 papers from the Pebbles – Spring Fling collection – Honey Bee (the black text) and Chalkboard Floral (my background sheet). I used a cut file from the Silhouette Store that I fell in love with the second I saw it and knew what I wanted to do with it so picked my papers and got my cameo working for me!

I knew I wanted some colour in the background and in order for my cut to POP I first applied a really quick, light layer of white gesso to fade those dots into the background some. Then I grabbed my Scribble Sticks in Tangerine and Ruby, some plastic packaging and got to smooshing some colour onto my background and also applying some splatters with the same mix of colour.

When that was all dry I added some splatters using my Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Spray in Bling knowing I was going to add more gold accents. While that dried I used my Black Soot Distress Ink to ink the edges of the “Tis The Season” words so they would pop a little more. And added some gold foil using my Mini Minc machine to some of the Minc Crate Paper Halloween ephemera pieces I wanted to use. I LOVE the pops of shiny gold and love the gold, orange and black & white mix of colours!

Once my background was completely dried all that was left was to glue everything down. Since I have used gesso on the background I did use my wet glue for everything to make sure it all stayed where I put it!

One final close up

How I love stars and how that they look any better than minc’d in gold foil?!?? Of course, there are a tonne of colours to choose from in the store if gold is not your thing!

Here is one final photo – this time the frame is stood up and I can’t wait to find a home for it in the lead up to Halloween this year! My boys are super exited!

Remember, you still have almost 2 full weeks to enter our October challenges so head over to the ScrappingClearly FB group to find the albums with all of the details and the place to share!

Oh, I almost forgot! There is even a process video if you’d like to see this come together!

Until next time, thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

{Stash} Hello Baby Ethan ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey there my scrappy friends!! I have a quick layout share for you today of this page I made to document me meeting one of my scrappy friends little people for the first time!

I made this page about a month or so ago but am sad to say that it has taken me that long to a) getting around to doing a voice over and b) getting around to actually documenting this memory – this little guy is 1 at the end of this month! Oops!

I have once again used more Colour Blast products to create those adorable clouds on the page. I have kept the whole page pretty airy and I love it!

The process video is below, all you need to do is click play and enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed and until next time, happy scrapping!

Mum’s Scrap Room for Scrappingclearly

Hi hi and welcome to my blog today for this fun share with goodies from the Scrappingclearly store!

I was sent this gorgeous Heidi Swapp Marquee Love Chalkboard heart by Kylie and was totally in love straight away. It took me a little while to work out what I was going to do to it to pretty it up and make it more “mine” but when I worked out what I was going to do it all came together super quick!!

I am going to hang this on my craft room door and perhaps leave messages for my husband and children when I don’t want to be disturbed while I’m tucked away in here ๐Ÿ˜‰ Or perhaps they could leave me little love notes ๐Ÿ˜‰ Haha!

Here are a couple of close ups

You can see here that I have layered up a flower from the Maggie Holmes Bloom ephemera pack and some of those totally gorgeous ย butterflies I hand cut from the “Flutter” pattered paper.

I also added in some splatters from the ever reliable and so so pretty Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Gold.

This heart is actually a DIY job ๐Ÿ˜€ I adore the layered hearts that came out in this collection and never got my hands on any (apparently the rest of the population also loved them!!) so I made my own. It was a very simple process! I started with a big heart die that I cut out of plain white card stock. I grabbed some of the patterned papers from the Maggie Holmes Bloom 6×6 paper pad and also this one from a scrap from previous project. I’ve also layered in some of that oh so pretty gold printed vellum and a strip from the washi tape booklet. After it was all stuck down I took it to my sewing machine and used some gold thread to sew along most of the lines and I really love how this turned out!

And finally, a photo of this light up in all of its glory ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s it for me for today!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and happy scrapping!

Note To Self

Hi there and welcome to my blog today! It has been a wee little while since my last post, school holidays, a 6th birthday, sicknesses, it’s all been happening!!

I am here today to share with you a page I created using some of stash to participate in the Kraft+ challenge for January! I have been meaning to get to one of these and the months just keep flying by!

The challenge this month is using our own handwriting. I tend to use mine all the time, I actually really like it most of the time! I remember as a child spending hours trying to get my letters just how I wanted them to look and as I grew up I would try different fonts and for those of you that have seen any of my DD albums or our PL albums you will know I write ALOT!!

When I heard the song “Dont Be So Hard On Yourself” by Jess Glynne it resonated it with me so much and I knew that I wanted to do a “letter to self” type LO. One of those hard learned lessons of life that I am so grateful, for the most part, I have my head around!!

When I saw this page by the very talented Louise Beerens inspiration struck! I was going to write the lyrics by hand on my kraft cardstock and use that as the base for my LO.

So, after lots of playing here is my finished page

Obviously, I started with the kraft cardstock and a black pen. Then some gesso and watercolours. All of the papers are by Crate Paper, from various ranges. There is some pink tissue paper layered up behind the photo as well. I popped a kraft coloured bag right at the back with some hand written journalling – originally I was going to include the song lyrics but the space wasn’t big enough so I printed out the lyrics and taped them to the back of the page ๐Ÿ™‚

Some pops of gold with the title, the stitching and also that flower. I have also used some of the ephemera pieces from one of the Maggie Holmes/Crate collections and some flowers from one of the Maggie Holmes flower packages.

And a close up of the title area which also gives a closer look at that chevron paper I cut into and stitched after I did my background work!

I had so much fun playing along this month and hope to be able to play along a few more months throughout the year!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!!
