CUT to YOU | Happy Together | A Scrapbook Layout

Hello my scrappy friends!! As the month of love rapidly comes to a close I have another lovey-full-of-hearts page to share with you!

This is another page for CUT to YOU and I have used the beautiful “Love Me Some Hearts” cut file which is available here on the website and here on the Etsy store.

I have filled most of my white card stock background with and sent to cut.

I picked this gorgeous ombre blue patterned paper from CVS for my background so knew I didn’t want to cover too much of it up or distract too much from it so I kept it pretty simple and just misted and painted the whole file in gold.

I have used the 3 biggest hearts for the photo’s I wanted to use to tell my story. I have cut those to shape and stuck behind my cut file.

As I knew I really wanted that cut file and photos to pop the rest of the page is really fairly simple but I just love the end result! I chose a few random hearts to back using some gold printed newspaper print vellum (which I may be hoarding every single scrap of!!) from my stash to add a bit more gold and subtle pattern.

I used some CVS Love Always wood veneer for my embellishment and part of my title and some of the same collection ephemera to finish off my title and add some butterflies.

A few sparkly black enamel dots from the same CVS collection. 3 triangles of 3 around my photos and embellishments.

I added my journalling using a white pen and my final touch was some white splatters using Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray.

And that is it for me for today!
I do have a process video for you which you can watch just by clicking the play button below

Make sure you head over to the CUT to YOU shop to check out all of the beautiful February releases and make sure you head back really soon for the soon to come March releases – oh la la <3<3<3

I hope you have enjoyed and I will be back again with another layout share very soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy scrapping

September (already?!?) with Dusty Attic

Hi hi! I’m here with you today sharing my projects for September for Dusty Attic!! September, really?! How did that happen?

Anyways, I have 2 projects to share this month – a traditional 12×12 LO and a double page spread with a 12×12 and a PL style page for my littlest guys album.

First up my 12×12 LO! I have had this idea in my head for ages now and am so pleased I finally got it done!! I made a collage of some of my favourite photo’s from 2014 for the cover of my 2015 diary and also had the same collage printed as a 6×6 photo for this page.

I have used the Simple Stories Daily Grind range, which I thought was the perfect fit for this type of page!! I got the collection pack so have all the papers and a couple of sticker sheets.

I applied a messy coat of gesso after I stuck some of the papers down and then applied some mist using some plastic packaging and “stamping”. Some stamping with black archival ink, some layers behind my photo, a “flip”, some magnets and of course those gorgeous Dusty pieces which I have applied some versamark ink and gold embossing powder to.

As I mentioned, a “flip” mechanism (simply a piece of scrap cardstock scored in half, the ends trimmed into a “v” shape and then adhered to the layers where it can’t be seen) which holds my journalling and also includes a photograph of my Pop who passed away in December 2014. I have cut a slit in my page protector so that it is easy enough for people to read the journalling when (heck, IF!) they flip through it. I have also hidden some little, very strong magnets in the paper layers so that it all sits nicely when closed.

A close up of the chippy pieces in the top left corner

And the chippy piece that is peeking out from under the photo layers

The chippy pieces I have used are as follows:

2014 Year In Review – DA1092
Mini Captions #1 – DA1279
Mini Captions #2 – DA1291H

So, onto my other project for this month!

These are the pages for Hunter’s album for March 2015.

As I have mentioned previously I am (slowly!!) working on my boys albums in a month to month format to capture their personalities, quirks and developments. I aim for 1 traditional LO and 1 PL style LO for the month so 2 12×12 pages all up.

Here are both pages together as they sit in the album

I have used the Heidi Swapp September skies PL kit, ephemera and one of the 12×12 sheets of paper.

The left side

I love, love, love how this turned out!!

Firstly I did some work on the background of that paper. I applied a light, messy coat of gesso with my finger then applied the mists and gelato colours I knew I was going to use on the chippy piece (which are Heidi Swapp navy and peacock colour shine and a green gelato from my stash) again using the plastic packaging/stamping technique. Then I did some splatters all around and finally some stamps using a couple of roller date stamps and black archival ink.

I have applied the mists and gelato that I have watered down to use as water colours to that background chippy piece after applying a coat of gesso. A couple of coats of white paint to the title pieces, some ephemera pieces, some of the little squares from the cut apart sheet in the 6×6 paper pad and some enamel dots.

A closer look at the centre of the page where most of the design is

And a close up of the background chippy piece

And the title pieces

I realised after I took the photos that there was no journalling so I have tucked a little shipping tag near the top at the back of the LO which also has some twine so people flipping through can see it’s there.

And the right hand PL side

I didn’t really take any photo’s of the individual pockets but I really LOVE how my title card turned out – simple, yet effective so here you go!!

The chippies pieces I have used are as follows:
Triangle Panel Small – all of the mini triangles have come from this
Mini ABC Upper – DA0861N
Mini ABC Lower – DA0862
Love You Arrows – DA1070O
Mini Captions #5 – DA1308I
Word Pack #6 – DA1187

That’s it for me for today but make sure you pull out your chippy and play along with the (yet another!!) gorgeous inspiration board for your chance at a $100 Dusty Attic voucher!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

Project Life 2015 Update

Hi there!!

Just wanted to pop in here this morning and share a bit of an update on our 2015 Project Life album!

Firstly, I am totally loving the process and ALMOST up to date! Woo hoo!! The closest I have been since December or there abouts!!

I have completed in my album our weeks 1-15 and weeks 16 and 17 are sitting in sleeves in our album awaiting cards and journalling!

I have done a little blogging of some of our weeks with a couple of various DT posts so I will share links for those here and photos for the gaps and probably a couple more week spreads 🙂

You can find Week 1 here – A spread I did for the Life Zesters DT February Challenge. Sadly, LZ is no longer, the decision was made at the end of April to close it down 😦

You can find Week 2 here – Again, a spread I did for the LZ DT March Challenge

Week 3

As this week sits in our album 🙂

I have used a 6×6 paper pad for this week, Creative Agenda by Echo Park and paired that with some fun dark blue enamel dots and stars, some labels, washi and alphas from my stash.

The left side

And the right side

Week 3 saw my big boy’s 5th birthday and party so of course an insert!

The front (I used a G design PP)

I have used a did TMNT paper pack which I purchased through Etsy and included his invite and also the tags from the lolly bags which I popped into a little pocket I hand sewed together top left 🙂
Bottom right is a flip 🙂

And then the back of the insert

Week 4 can be found here – I did Life Zesters April Challenge this month

Week 5

As this week sits in our album

I have used the Heidi Swapp September Skies PL kit and added in a few ephemera pieces from the same range and also those gorgeous glittery blue thickers.

The left hand side

And the right hand side – again another flip, top right – I have used heaps of these, they are AWESOME!!

And under the flip 🙂

Week 6

As it is in the album

I have used a PL Specialty Cards “Noted” pack paired with some Shimelle rub on’s, alpha/word stickers and some puffy stickers from my stash 🙂

The left hand side

And the right hand side – another flip, bottom left

And what is under the flip with some journalling straight onto the photo in the A desgin PP.

Week 6 saw the start of Term 1 2015 which meant full time school for my big boy which called for an insert!!

This time I used an A design PP which I have cut down on the right hand side and then sewed back up along the cut edge.

I have used the Websters Pages Hall Pass range for the papers and some embellishments and also used some of the bits from the Heidi Swapp September Skies ephemera pack. The tabs I have used on the right hand edge are from Flutterby Designs – an Australian company 🙂

And the back

Onto week 7

I have used one of my most fave paper lines for this week – Simple Stories Daily Grind. I also found an ephemera pack for the same range – insert squeal of excitement!! Haha!! I have also teamed the ephemera pack with some glittery black thickers, I just LOVE this font!!

Both pages as they are in the album

The left hand side

And the right hand side

Now, one thing I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE about PL is being able to include some of the “stuff” the boys do. On the left side of this spread, top right there is a photo of Hunter painting. While we had the paints out (and knowing it was going to end up all over his hands anyways 😉 ) I got him to give me a hand print on some white cardstock. This is his hand, exactly as it was (well, perhaps not with tips of his fingers missing!!) on that day. That is important to me.

And now I can hear my little guy is awake so I shall link you up to our week 8 and go and do the “Mum thing”! Week 8 was documented with a tonne of Dusty Attic goodies, painted GOLD and shared here.

So, that’s it for me for today. I hope to be back very soon with some more PL updates, who knows, perhaps not only will our real life album be up date but perhaps my blog album will also be up to date!!

Happy scrapping and if you are reading and it is still Sunday, Happy Mumma’s day, if it is Monday, Happy Mummas Day for yesterday and I hope Monday is kind to you!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Project Life with Dusty Attic and a Sweet 16th

Hi there!!

I am very excited to share with you some of our Project Life from 2014 that I have slowly been catching up on!! It has been a very long journey getting this far with 2014. Long story short, my Pop passed away on 16th December and my love for/desire to do PL disappeared around the same time. But, it is slowly returning and with it some fun with some Dusty pieces and also paint!

I shall start with our week 49

Being the 1st week of December and me being a Christmas lover lots of red and Christmas themed bits and pieces over the double page.

The left side. All about 1st December – a few highlights!

I have used 2 of the chipboard alphas on this page – the Mini ABC Set Upper Case and the “Teeny Tiny ABC Set”.

This title had a couple of different layers on it when I decided I need to change it up to work in better with the 2nd page. As the card was already all put together I simply pulled out my versa mark re-inker and a paintbrush, painted the alphas and sprinkled on some gold embossing powder, heat set and voila.

These alphas I applied a coat of gesso then used my gold wink of stellar brush to add some gold and some sparkle. Not that it is that obvious in the photo….

The right side. I was able to squish most of the rest of the week onto this page!!

Here I have used the “love this love that arrows” and “word pack 6” – absolutely perfect for my 2 little ratbags!!

I have actually separated the 3 layers of this piece, easily, by soaking the piece in water (ta-da, one piece is now 3!!), waiting for that to dry – I do have to confess to using my heat tool ;), then applying the piece to my versamark pad and sprinkling on gold embossing powder and heat setting.
Also, just to share, that is my awesome goodies from Jen to play with over the next little while which I had received that week in the post – squeal!!!

Again with the gold embossing powder but this time I did not separate the word.

Moving right along.

Next I am sharing with you the front side of insert I included for week 49.

Not a great deal of embellishing but there are some more of that awesome “teeny tiny ABC alpha” and also a mini banner from the “mini banners” set.

This time I simply used a sponge dauber and the gorgeous “vintage gold dusty in colour” paint. I couldn’t get it to photograph so that you can get a really awesome idea of the shimmer in this paint by wow!! I totally love it!!

This banner was treated the exact same way! So pretty and shimmery IRL!

And our last page that I have completed for 2014 to date is our week 50.

You would be correct in assuming there is no chipboard on this page but I went to town with that gorgeous gold paint on most of the cards on this page!!

So, this is the left hand page.

For most of the paint on this page I have used dollops of the paint straight onto my craft mat mixed with a little bit of water to make it a teensy bit runnier and easier to spread/paint around the edges of the cards. I have applied that technique around the “wishlist” card top right, painted a layer over the “Santa selfie” card before I stuck anything down, around the edges of the of the next 2 cards and then around the edges of the striped card 4th along. Again, around the edges of the bottom left hand card.

You can also see a few gold splatters on both of these cards. Again I have used the gold paint but this time added more water – about 50/50 paint water, mixed it up with my paint brush and splattered it along the card.

Our right hand page.

Again, more paint around the edge of the top right card, the 2 black cards along the middle and the white layer on the middle card in the middle row.

Such an easy and fun way to add sparkle and shine and pull the whole layout together!!

And just a bit of a close up of the detail along the middle row!!

That is all of our PL I have to share with you so far this month but I do also have a card to share!!

My gorgeous niece turned Sweet 16 on 28th of last month!! 16, holy smokes batman, where on earth has that time gone?! But I found this gorgeous digi stamp called Kira by Saturated Canary and it reminded me of my beautiful girl so I HAD to use her on a card!!

I had so much fun putting this together with her in mind! I did txt her to check her fave colours and purple and green it was!! I have used some 6×6 papers by Pink Paislee from the Colour Wash line along with some gold glittered enamel dots, purple flowers, a few pieces from my stash and that gorgeous “mini view finder” along with the “mini feathers” from Dusty.

The mini view finder was very simply versamarked and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The feathers, I decided to separate the layers as I didn’t want the card to be too top heavy. After that I applied a quick coat of gesso – like I said, I learnt something at my latest class – then went to work with some purple water colour paint. Though I am not a purple fan I am so happy with how these turned out!! Those purple flowers pulled it all together for a card that I loved making and my niece loved!! Yay for giving cards that are loved!!

That’s it for me for today!!

Make sure you play along with our February mood board challenge for your chance at a $100 voucher to the Dusty Attic store.

Happy Crafting!!
