{Colour Blast} Spread Your Wings ~ A Mixed Media Card

Hi there, today I am sharing my latest DT project for Colour Blast Australia. I have created a card I made for a work friend who has left and started a new life for herself overseas!

Here’s a little peeky….

Here is my process video if you are interested in seeing this card come together

And read on for my step-by-steps

First up, after I cut my card front to size (10cm x 14.3cm) I grabbed this very pretty stencil from my stash (it is a Dusty Attic one) and my Bling Colour Paste. I’ll tell you a little secret here – I wasn’t 100% certain of where I wanted this card to go so I took inspiration from my last DT project and ran with it!

I let that air dry and then came back and started to add colour. I had already picked some pieces I wanted to use to embellish with so grabbed my matching colours in Sunshine and Tangereen Dream in the Colour Shimmer Cubes and clean cup of water. I added a little water over the top of the stencilling and then added my colour, moving the card stock around to get the colour to move and adding water/more colour when necessary.

I did get impatient and used my heat tool to dry that off so I could move onto my next step. Splatters! Using the same colours and paint brushes I added in splatters – Sunshine to the Tangereen side mostly and Tangereen to the Sunshine side.ย

When that was dry I grabbed a damp baby wipe and rubbed over my Colour Paste to get the Bling to pop once again without any additional colour on top! Did you know that you could do that??ย
It really makes the colours of the pastes pop once again!

Next up, I dumped all of my pretty things onto my base and decided I needed a dark pop of colour behind all the bits so I grabbed a mini doily from my stash and my Dusty Charcoal Colour Shimmer Cube.ย

I love having white options because it makes it so easy to customise colours for any project. I just used a paint brush and painted over the doily – be careful if you are doing this that you are not too rough or you may rip/tear the doily! I almost did!! Again, I used my heat tool to dry this off and then applied a second coat in the same way.

One last step before bringing it all together – splatters in Dusty Charcoal. Again, same as above but with a different colour. I love the contrast it gives and that darker colour really makes the whole design just pop!ย

And here is my finished card. I think my friend will love it – it is being hand delivered by another friend to Dubai next week! I added in some stamping in a dark grey ink and mounted my card front onto this fun and bright yellow card stock to finish it off!

Thanks as always for stopping by! I hope I have given you some inspiration for whatever you have currently sitting on your desk and I’ll see you again in couple of weeks! Please make sure you head over to the FB group, Colour Blast Creative Corner, to share all of your projects using Colour Blast goodies, we love seeing them and being inspired by you all!

{Colour Blast} Shine ~ An Art Journal Page

Hey, hey scrappy friends!! Today I’m here with you sharing my latest DT make for Colour Blast Australia.ย

Here’s a little sneaky peek I shared on my FB page the other day

And this page was inspired by this month’s challenge and a very cute kit I won from an Aussie company, Kit The Habit.

So, feathers!! I love feathers and was so excited when I received this little kit in the mail with all of those gorgeous texture-y feathers, swoon!

Onto the step by steps!

First up I used a fun feather stencil by Flutterby Designs paired with the gorgeous Sienna Colour Paste and just applied a small amount in a small area on my page in my art journal.

While that dried I decided to colour my fabric doily using the beautiful Just Blue Colour Shimmer Spray.

I left that mostly to air dry (I did get a little impatient!!) and then added some colour using my Just Blue Colour Shimmer Spray. I simply sprayed right onto the page and then lifted and turned it to get the colour to move all around my stencilling.

I did air dry that and when it was done I did some splatters using Sienna and Just Blue Colour Shimmer Cubes. I also did some splatters with Roadbase Colour Spray.

Lastly I added a little bit of colour to a few flowers using a paint brush and my Sienna Colour Shimmer Spray.

When that was all dry I added all my bits on and LOVE the finished design.ย

Again, another “not typical for me” page but I am so loving doing different things and playing with products!!

You still have almost the whole month to get your groove on and play with your products, just make sure you incorporate feathers in some way!!

Happy scrapping and I’ll see you again soon!

{ScrappingClearly} Some quick cards

Hi there and welcome to my blog this Easter Monday!ย

I hope the Easter Bunny was good to you and that you are enjoying a long weekend with your loved ones! I’m happy to report, our Bunny Trap, once again failed yesterday!! Though the boys had fun setting it up, the Bunny was kind enough to leave chocolate, pj’s and new slippers for them!!

Today I have some cards that I created using the Kasier Craft Ooh La La collection.

I have used a couple of off cuts from a couple of my 12×12 papers as the card fronts – cut to size – but you could very easily change it up and use the 6 1/2′ x 6 1/2″ paper pad. And then grabbed the collectable pack, the 12×12 sticker sheet and the Kaiser mini blooms in honey and sage. I’ve also used some of the very pretty Cantaloupe Liquid Pearls on some of the butterfly centres for a little extra touch ๐Ÿ™‚

In the bottom right corner I have used one of the left over triangles from this project. I have pulled a few pieces from the collectables pack and stuck 3 of the sage flowers along with 2 of the sentiment stickers from the 12×12 sticker sheet.

I started with some Whipped Spackle and a stencil from my stash for some added detail in the background then when that was dry I grabbed a few pieces from the collectables pack and voila, card #2 done!

For this one I started with one of the 12″ border stickers from the sticker sheet and then added lots of pieces from the collectables pack. And a final touch, 3 of the honey mini paper blooms.

And finally, card #4, I started with the big floral piece from the sticker sheet which I trimmed in half and stuck down. A couple of butterflies, one is a sticker and the other is from the collectables pack. Some of the word sticker strips and the final touch of Liquid Pearls down the centre of the 2 butterflies.ย

4 cards done and dusted in under and hour – I did record the process but apparently my phone had other ideas and didn’t actually record anything!! Technology, hey?!

Anyways, cards are a quick, easy way to use up some left overs and especially some of those bigger paper offcuts that you may otherwise be unsure what you are going to do with. Always good to have a few in your stash!

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend and maybe even getting in some scrappy time!!

{Colour Blast DT} Christmas Cards

Hi there! I’m here with you today sharing this “set” of 6 christmas cards I made using some awesome Colour Blast products!

I had so much fun playing and am super happy with how these cards came out. Playing with the black cardstock was a bit of a challenge but FUN!

I do have a process video which you can see below or you can head toย my YouTube channel here. I also have some step by steps below!

First up I picked out one of my 12×12 stencils and a couple of colours of Colour Shimmer Spray that I wanted to use. I had a handful of embellishments I have in my stash that I wanted to get used so kinda matched to those using the Bling Shimmer Spray and Deep Water Shimmer Spray.

I randomly sprayed the 2 colours through the stencil on the whole 12×12 piece of cardstock until I was happy with the colours. I did soak up the excess colour on top of the stencil by applying a 2nd piece of black cardstock and rubbing gently to get a stamped image.

When that was all dried I used the nozzle from the 2 bottles and sprinkled some splatters randomly across the page.

I dried that off with my heat tool and then cut my cardstock down to card front size – 10cm x 14.3cm – ready to add my layers!

I did fiddle around a bit with all the bits I wanted to use but managed after a little bit of back and forth to come up with designs I was happy with.

I felt that I needed a little extra in the background behind my layers so grabbed my Snow White Colour Paste and another stencil from my stash and applied some colour using a palette knife roughly behind where the clusters were going.

I let that dry naturally, which really didn’t take very long at all and then stuck all my pieces down!

I decided that the tag on this needed a little bling so I grabbed my Bling Embossing Powder and embossing ink and stamped a little sentiment.

I used a mix of double sided tape and wet glue to stick everything down, I wanted to make sure nothing moved.

Here are the completed cards and like I said earlier, I’m super happy with how these turned out and had so much fun!ย

I only recently discovered the beauty of the Shimmer Sprays on dark cardstock and if you have yet to have a play I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Please make sure you head over to our FB group here and share all the wonderful creations you make!

Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!!

{Scrapping Clearly DT} Some (not love!) cards with WRMK Crush

Hi there scrappy friends, I’m here with you today sharing some really cute cards that I made using mostly the WRMK Crush rangeย available in the ScrappingClearly store.

I was totally inspired to create a little stack of cards when I saw these adorable layered tags in my DT pack from Kylie and couldn’t wait to get them out and used!ย

Here are the 5 cards I created in 2 photo’s ๐Ÿ™‚

Just secretly these 2 are my faves ๐Ÿ˜‰ Isn’t that little hedgehog just ADORABLE?!ย

I’m super pleased with how these all came together and now I will give you a quick run down of each card ๐Ÿ™‚

Before I do that however I will say that I started with the tags and the 6×6 paper pad. I started out by matching the tags with a patterned paper from the pad and then cut each 6×6 page down to the size of a card front ๐Ÿ™‚ย

This first one is a pretty simple design but I really do like how it came together with just a few bits and pieces. So, after the tag and the paper I picked that gem sticker from the WRMK Crush sticker sheet and these Heidi Swapp alpha’s for a sentiment. Those alpha’s from bright also came from the sticker sheet in the same collection. Oh, and a few Studio Calico sequins from the Red and Pink mix ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would be lying if I said I really understood the trend of the cactus in scrapbooking but oh man, this little guy had me the second I opened up the sticker sheet!! I LOVE it!!. As you can see peeking out in the background is some washi tape also by Heidi Swapp. This is from the Marquee collection and is really wide so I just used one strip which I tore through the middle for the uneven edges along top and bottom. A couple of banners from the off cuts of the 6×6 paper pad, some of this gorgeous Heidi Swapp lace ribbon, the tag (of course!), the cactus and the “hello fabulous” sticker from this Heidi Swapp chipboard sticker pack. This was actually a speech bubble but I didn’t like the little taggy bit so I simply chopped it off!! And, a few sequins, of course ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ah!! Isn’t he just ADORABLE??! Sending you Hedgehugs, I mean seriously, how cute can you get?! So this card is using mostly scraps as the layers behind the tag – and I mean scraps – none of those pieces actually stretches all the way behind that tag!! That gold tissue paper is what Kylie wrapped my beautiful goodies in this ย month so I thought, heck, Im gonna add some in and machine stitch through it! And add some sequins ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is a really quick and simple one! More of that tissue paper which I cut into rectangles, 3 to be exact; I layered them in a messy, interesting way and attached them together with my tiny attacher. I attached that layer to my tag and then that whole piece using foam adhesive to the card front over the top of more of that super pretty Lace Ribbon. I felt it was lacking a little something so I grabbed my black pen and did a quick doodled outline around the card front. So effective! And more sequins!!

And, last but by no means least, this little beauty! With all of this busy patterns I decided straight away that it needed black outlining on all the pieces and it made so much difference! So, more paper scraps, a tab sticker, lace ribbon,ย  one of these gorgeous WRMK Crush paper clipsย and yet more sequins. I figured that leaving that tab blank would give me the opportunity to personalise the card when the time comes to send it if I feel like it or I can just leave blank, either way, I love this card too!!

So, I made 5 cards from a very “love” themed Valentine’s collection and none of them really scream I LOVE YOU or Happy Valentine’s Day, in fact I think they are all quiet versatile. Yep, a little feminine, I can’t see me giving these to the men in my life but that’s 5 cards for my stash none the less!!

I hope that you feel inspired to use the products however they speak to you. I saw the layered tags and knew straight away they were destined for cards so ran with that idea. And just because a collection is geared towards a particular theme doesn’t mean it has to be used for that theme ๐Ÿ™‚ Have fun with your products and make sure you head over to our FB group here to see all the inspiration from not only our DT but also from all of our awesome followers who share their work there!!

Happy scrapping and until next time,
Melinda

{Scrappingclearly DT} First Kiss

Hi there and welcome to my blog this Monday morning!! Today I’m here with you with another share using the GORGEOUS Maggie Holmes Bloom collection and another wedding layout for Scrappingclearly!

Here is the complete page

And as you can see I have put alot of time into the title with that hand stitching. I am so loving it at the moment! If you head over here you can see my full process in my process video ๐Ÿ™‚

After I had hand stitched my title I went in with a stencil and some of the awesome Faber-Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel mixed with one of the fun colour powders from Colour Blast for a little added colour and texture.

Here are some details shots

The hand stitched title, I really love how this turned out!! If you haven’t tried it and love the look it is SO worth the time and effort and makes the rest of the page come together pretty easily, especially when you have so many pretty things to work with ๐Ÿ˜‰

As part of the Bloom collection there were these stunning layered/fringed hearts and for some reason I never got my hands on any but as I mentioned in another post I did I did have HEAPS of fun making my own!! Again, you can see my whole process for that in my video ๐Ÿ™‚

But a quick run down of how to:
Find a big-ish heart (or any shape really!!) die or punch – obviously, I used a heart (die). I used one of the papers from the 6×6 paper pad as my base layer thinking you would see more than you actually do, oops!! But then I grabbed a few off cuts and cut a few strips from some of the other papers in the 6×6 pad. I have also incorporated some of the washi strips from the washi booklet and some of my offcuts of that BEAUTIFUL gold foiled vellum piece from the collection. I used my fringing scissors – Kylie has some in store here – and fringed the edges. I went in with some wet glue and stuck all my layers down in a way I was happy then when that was all dry I took the whole piece to my sewing machine for that extra stitched detail. These are so, so pretty!ย

A close up of more of the detail around the photo. A pink doily from my stash, some of the leaves from the Bloom ephemera pack and again, more of those gorgeous butterflies cut from the Flutter paper.ย

And onto the top cluster! A couple more pieces from the ephemera pack, some crotchet thread from my stash and another fussy cut butterfly – this one from the 6×6 version of the paper.

As you can see, there is some stamping in a couple of places and a very light sprinkling of Roadbase Colour Blast Colour Spray and also some of the Colour Blast powder mixed with water – the same colour I did the stencilling in.

I ended up using this paper to mount the whole page on, I really liked the definition the black brought to the edges of the page.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope I have inspired you to have a play with some of your own pretty papers and embellishments to get some precious memories recorded!

Happy Scrapping!
