{ScrappingClearly} Hello Hipster Bar ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Howdy scrappers!

Today I am sharing my take on the ScrappingClearly sketch for February and after a bit of a rough start – stress has kinda made my mojo harder to find – and picking photos off I went!

Here again is this months sketch

And my interpretation

This layout came together reasonably quickly for me and I even contemplated the idea of no mixed media but the messy 3 year old in me won out!!

There is also a process video which you can watch below!

I started with Paper #07 from the Pink Paislee C’est La Vie collection (yes, still hanging onto some of this gorgeous collection ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and added a torn strip of Paper #03 to the middle-ish of the page.

I built my title knowing I wanted to use one of the gorgeous “Jumbo Words” by Heidi Swapp for the Minc but not sure which one. After picking my photo’s I came up with “Hello Hipster Bar” and my word was chosen! I went on the hunt for some smaller alphas and found the Something Wonderful Alpha & Label Sticker Sheet by Teresa Collins which helped me pick my foil colours!

I went with the holographic foil for the title and one of the sheets from the Minc 6×6 paper pack. And then chose mint foil for another of the 6×6 papers from the same 6×6 pack which I layered behind my 2 photo’s.

This is where my inner messy 3 year old came out!! I started with some black texture stamps and then I’ve used Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Spray in Envy with the packaging technique and also the Colour Shimmer Pot in Envy to add splatters. While that dried I minc’d my pieces and then went back to the background.

I’ve added some extra texture using some Glass Bead Glitter Gel and a text stencil. This is so pretty – I really love the added texture!! Tip – if you have this (any kind!) in your stash USE it!! Mine is at the point where I really ought to throw it out – it is almost completely set in the tub – but I am going to experiment with hot water before I give up!

Time to stick everything down!!

I ended up using some fussy cut flowers from the Pink Paislee C’est La Vie collection Paper #08 and also fussy cut some butterflies from the gorgeous “Flutter” paper in the Maggie Holmes Bloom range.

A few gold sequins from Studio Calico, my journalling and a date stamp and I am done!

I hope I have inspired you to play along with this months sketch, remember, there is a $30 store voucher up for grabs for one lucky participant! Load up your entries here in our Facebook group!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Happy ~ K+ July 2017 Challenge

Hey, hey!! Today I am here sharing with you my take on the July 2017 (holy crap, July, already?!??) Kraft+ Challenge.

This month is all about roses – use roses 3 ways

I didn’t think that I had an abundance of roses in my stash but upon looking I was pleasantly surprised and managed to use roses 5 ways!!!

Here is my page! And I’m super happy with how it came together!

This photo was taken 2 years ago, almost to the exact day – 4th July to be precise – and is the ONLY photo I got of myself on the day that I hit my weight loss goal and since I have just celebrated my 2nd anniversary I figured I may as well scrap it!!

My roses 5 ways are as follows:
Stencilling in the background
Ephemera pieces – both the acetate and the little tag
Chipboard
Patterned paper – both the photo mat and the top and bottom of the page
2 flair badges both have roses

This page is rather different to my “norm” but I really do love it and do love the challenge of doing something different every now and then!

Here are a few close ups

Just as a side note, there are quiet a few different pieces here that are from Aussie companies! Of course, Colour Blast for all of the stencilling and splatters, Funky Flair Studio for the flair and the sequins are from Create By Me Studio. I’ve linked all of them up, just cause sharing is caring so take a look if you get the chance!

That’s it for me for today! Until next time, happy scrapping!

{ScrappingClearly} Muddy Puddles in February ~ March Mood Board Challenge

Hi, hi and hello!! Welcome to my blog today!!ย

I’m sharing my take on the very fun March moodboard for ScrappingClearly today! Have you seen it yet?!ย

I just love, love, love this!! I was mostly inspired by the colours in the board this month, all those blues and greens, swoon!! Also, all those blue’s on the bottom 2/3 reminded me both of mud splatters (ok, somewhat not realistic mud splatters!!) and of course the fun technique of smooshing paint onto paper so of course that is the main technique I went with on this page as you can see below!

Again, I am using the incredibly versatile Teresa Collins Something Wonderful range this time pulling the black’s, white’s and blue’s from all the goodies!!ย

I had printed these 2 photos of my boys after a fun afternoon trip very recently to somewhere that should not have had muddy puddles this time of year!! You could say it was a once in a lifetime occurrence being that February is Perth’s (traditionally) hottest Summer month with little to no rain and we not only received record breaking low temperatures but record breaking amounts of water drop from the sky!!!

We had a heap of fun this day and I wanted that to be somewhat obvious on the page and I think I achieved it!

I did pull in some alpha’s from my stash but otherwise everything is from the Something Wonderful range!

And you can see in the background here (and all over the paint in the background actually!) that I have used the Heidi Swapp “Maze Art” Art Screen and the Silver Art Screen Ink and I love how it looks! This product is so different to anything else I have ever used!

I hope you like my share today and I look forward to seeing your take on this months moodboard and where it takes you!!

Until then, happy scrapping!!

{Stash} Awesome Day

Hi there fellow scrappers! I’ve finally managed to find my mojo and create, create, create this week! Mostly it has been DT stuff, nothing like getting in early for more “free” time to create with what is in my stash and that is what I am sharing with you today!!

A stash page using mostly Elle’s Studio “Cameron” range. Yep, an old range but I just love it and have very little of it left so wanted to get some of it used up!

Here is my page

And of course, some fun mixed media! I have used Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dusts in Duke and Paris. I did toy with the idea of doing clean and simple but my mixed media love kinda took over a little. Maybe next time ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here is a process video if you’d like to see my page come together ๐Ÿ™‚

And here are a few close ups!

So, I’m off today to help celebrate hubby’s 40th birthday and create more memories to scrap so if it takes a couple days for me to get back if you have any question or anything that’s why ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy Saturday and I’ll see you very soon!

This is Family {August Sketch Challenge Scrappingclearly}

Hi there and welcome to my blog today!

I am here sharing with you my take on the August 2016 Scrappingclearly sketch challenge which I had so much fun with!! Remember, Kylie has some AWESOME prizes up for grabs so you have until the end of the month to link your entries or share over in the FB group here.

Now, onto the good stuff!

First up, the sketch!

How fun is it? I really love working with sketches and the longer I scrap the more confident I become with using them and making them more my own ๐Ÿ™‚

And here is my take

I have used some papers from the awesome Heidi Swapp September Skies range as my background and decided to start the page doing a cut in the background of a scattering of stars rather than the circles in the sketch and LOVE how this turned out!

Before I added any of my layers I decided that it needed some fun mixed media mess in the background (I had originally thought I would not use any!!) so started with a thin coat of clear gesso and then grabbed out my jar of fabulous Colour Blast Mica Powder in watermelon, added some water and used my water brush to add some colour around the stars. I ended up going back over some areas with a 2nd coat to deepen the colour up and am really happy with how it came out!

I added a couple of paper layers behind my photo. And went to follow the sketch more closely but realised that with extra paper layers I would cover up all of those stars and mixed media so stuck to just a couple of simple layers. As the sketch called for an embellishment cluster on the bottom left of the photo I grabbed some of the gorgeous florals from the ephemera pack and layered those up. In my DT kit Kylie also sent me this awesome pack of banners from the September Skies range which worked perfectly with the sketch!

I added a few embellishments and that awesome wood veneer word to the right hand side and used the Made Of Awesome alphas that Kylie also sent me for my title.

Here are a few close upsย

Also I have a process video here for this layout if you would like to see how this page came together!ย

Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure you head over to the Scrappingclearly blog or FB page and upload your own entry to the sketch challenge album to win some awesome prizes!!

Happy Scrapping!

A Creative Journey – Part 3

Hello and welcome!!

I’ve stopped in today to share with you my art journal spread for this month! I was lucky enough to play along in Audrey’s beautiful journal and had so much fun with the “do whatever you feel like” theme!

Here is my completed page
And here are a couple of quick close up’s!

I have used a bunch of different products in the background but started off with an all time fave colour combo of mine in mind: Colour Shine in Citron, Navy and Teal ๐Ÿ™‚

A layer of gesso, some of that cool tape (I can NEVER remember what it’s actually called!!), texture paste through a stencil, background stamping and then COLOUR using my mists and also a bit more colour using another stencil and some Colour Paste by Colour Blast in Singin the Blues!

I have also added some of the Tim Holtz distress crackle in rock candy and then added some drops of navy colour shine.

I grabbed a couple of wood veneer from my stash and embossed them using a white with sparkles embossing powder and also those fun star and chevron pieces made by Charms Creations ๐Ÿ™‚ย

I’ve got my next journal sitting on my desk awaiting some different mediums, what am I going to do I wonder?! The theme is “A day in my life” which currently would be chaotic!! Haha, school holidays ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyways, I will share when it’s done. Perhaps even another process vid ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for stopping by, I really do appreciate the time taken and the comments left, they truly make my day each time I get that email!!

Happy scrapping!

Mum’s Scrap Room for Scrappingclearly

Hi hi and welcome to my blog today for this fun share with goodies from the Scrappingclearly store!

I was sent this gorgeous Heidi Swapp Marquee Love Chalkboard heart by Kylie and was totally in love straight away. It took me a little while to work out what I was going to do to it to pretty it up and make it more “mine” but when I worked out what I was going to do it all came together super quick!!

I am going to hang this on my craft room door and perhaps leave messages for my husband and children when I don’t want to be disturbed while I’m tucked away in here ๐Ÿ˜‰ Or perhaps they could leave me little love notes ๐Ÿ˜‰ Haha!

Here are a couple of close ups

You can see here that I have layered up a flower from the Maggie Holmes Bloom ephemera pack and some of those totally gorgeous ย butterflies I hand cut from the “Flutter” pattered paper.

I also added in some splatters from the ever reliable and so so pretty Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Gold.

This heart is actually a DIY job ๐Ÿ˜€ I adore the layered hearts that came out in this collection and never got my hands on any (apparently the rest of the population also loved them!!) so I made my own. It was a very simple process! I started with a big heart die that I cut out of plain white card stock. I grabbed some of the patterned papers from the Maggie Holmes Bloom 6×6 paper pad and also this one from a scrap from previous project. I’ve also layered in some of that oh so pretty gold printed vellum and a strip from the washi tape booklet. After it was all stuck down I took it to my sewing machine and used some gold thread to sew along most of the lines and I really love how this turned out!

And finally, a photo of this light up in all of its glory ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s it for me for today!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and happy scrapping!

December with Dusty Attic

Hello fellow Dusty Attic fans! Today is (sadly!) my last post with Dusty for the year and my term on the team! Firstly, however a massive thank you to the Jen’s for the fun and challenges that I have been able to participate in throughout this year! I have loved working on the team and seriously, I have a whole new love for chipboard!! To the rest of the members on the DA team, WOW, your work is truly inspiring and I have been more than honoured to be on the same team as you all!!

So, with that said and done onto my pages for this month.

I had big plans to do cards and 12×12 LO’s as well as the week I have managed to PL to share but this time of year is just crazy so today I have our week 43 to share with you all. Week 43 is late October if anyone is interested ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have used the Pink Paislee Colour Wash 6″x6″ paper pad for all of the papers and paired that with some Heidi Swapp ephemera from the “Dreamy” collection and of course, a bunch of Dusty Attic chipboard ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is the left hand side of the 2 pages

All of the chippy (except the page pebbles) have been treated the same way – a coat of white gesso and then some spray mists mixed with water and painted on. The colours mostly blended beautifully and randomly – just what I was after!! I used a mix of a yellow and blue mist separate but also made a green using both colours together. Love how they all turned out!! The page pebbles also had the gesso and water colour but I also added a layer of the clear gloss varnish to give them a little something extra ๐Ÿ™‚
And some close ups

The chippy here is from Word Pack #33.

The chippy here is from Word Pack #34.

The chippy here is Page Pebbles #10 and some Mini Stars. Those mini stars are scattered about the 2 pages for continuity.

Onto the other side

And some close ups

This piece is from Mini Captions #9

This is a Love You Arrow

More Mini Stars and also Stars #1, Mini ABC Upper and Mini Numbers.

This one is from Mini Captions #6.

Page Pebble from Page Pebbles #10.

And another page pebble from Page Pebbles #8.

So, that is it for me!! Thank you for all of your support and all of the comments that have been left over my term on the DT. No doubt, you will still see me about, I have a heap of chippy, lots of ideas and I just love the mood boards that the girls come up with every month!!

I like totally love you

Hello there lovely followers!!

Im here today sharing a LO I made over the last couple of days. I have used predominately Shimelle Laine goodies – I just love her 1st 2 ranges with American Crafts!!

I flipped through my stack of photos to scrap and came across this one of hubby and I pre-wedding.

I started with some texture paste from Dusty Attic and a mini stencil from Heidi Swapp on some watercolour paper. Then 2 Heidi Swapp colour shine colours (sweet cherry and coral) were used with water and I pretty much applied them the same way I would water colour paints behind where the photo was going and the bottom left corner. Some stamping using a clear stamp from Heidi Swapp and some roller date stamps with black archival ink. I added some gold thread behind all the paper layers, stuck them down and then did my sprinkles in black, gold, sweet cherry and gold colour shines.

Next I wentย with some paper layers from the 1st Shimelle collection (the pink/coral/cream diagonal stripe, the cream/black dot, the other cream/pink/coral paper is actually the paper with all the numbers on it, the green map print and some of the filmstrip paper) and then I pulled a couple of scraps from my scrap box – a floral from Maggie Holmes Open Book and and another that I have no idea of brand or anything!! Oh and the background woodgrain paper that is also part of the layers is from Bella and I picked it up from Spotlight.

I heat embossed my title using a Heidi Swapp stamp and gold embossing powder – my photo did have a little reaction but not enough to stop me using it! You can see it in the close ups!

The 2 is fussy cut from the numbers paper and all the flowers and the tab are from the Shimelle sticker book ๐Ÿ™‚

You can see above where my photo bubbled a little!!

So, thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

September (already?!?) with Dusty Attic

Hi hi! I’m here with you today sharing my projects for September for Dusty Attic!! September, really?! How did that happen?

Anyways, I have 2 projects to share this month – a traditional 12×12 LO and a double page spread with a 12×12 and a PL style page for my littlest guys album.

First up my 12×12 LO! I have had this idea in my head for ages now and am so pleased I finally got it done!! I made a collage of some of my favourite photo’s from 2014 for the cover of my 2015 diary and also had the same collage printed as a 6×6 photo for this page.ย

I have used the Simple Stories Daily Grind range, which I thought was the perfect fit for this type of page!! I got the collection pack so have all the papers and a couple of sticker sheets.

I applied a messy coat of gesso after I stuck some of the papers down and then applied some mist using some plastic packaging and “stamping”. Some stamping with black archival ink, some layers behind my photo, a “flip”, some magnets and of course those gorgeous Dusty pieces which I have applied some versamark ink and gold embossing powder to.

As I mentioned, a “flip” mechanism (simply a piece of scrap cardstock scored in half, the ends trimmed into a “v” shape and then adhered to the layers where it can’t be seen) which holds my journalling and also includes a photograph of my Pop who passed away in December 2014. I have cut a slit in my page protector so that it is easy enough for people to read the journalling when (heck, IF!) they flip through it. I have also hidden some little, very strong magnets in the paper layers so that it all sits nicely when closed.

A close up of the chippy pieces in the top left corner

And the chippy piece that is peeking out from under the photo layers

The chippy pieces I have used are as follows:

2014 Year In Review – DA1092ย
Mini View Finders โ€“ DA1080
Mini Captions #1 – DA1279
Mini Captions #2 – DA1291H

So, onto my other project for this month!

These are the pages for Hunter’s album for March 2015.

As I have mentioned previously I am (slowly!!) working on my boys albums in a month to month format to capture their personalities, quirks and developments. I aim for 1 traditional LO and 1 PL style LO for the month so 2 12×12 pages all up.

Here are both pages together as they sit in the album

I have used the Heidi Swapp September skies PL kit, ephemera and one of the 12×12 sheets of paper.

The left side

I love, love, love how this turned out!!ย

Firstly I did some work on the background of that paper. I applied a light, messy coat of gesso with my finger then applied the mists and gelato colours I knew I was going to use on the chippy piece (which are Heidi Swapp navy and peacock colour shine and a green gelato from my stash) again using the plastic packaging/stamping technique. Then I did some splatters all around and finally some stamps using a couple of roller date stamps and black archival ink.ย

I have applied the mists and gelato that I have watered down to use as water colours to that background chippy piece after applying a coat of gesso. A couple of coats of white paint to the title pieces, some ephemera pieces, some of the little squares from the cut apart sheet in the 6×6 paper pad and some enamel dots.

A closer look at the centre of the page where most of the design is

And a close up of the background chippy piece

And the title pieces

I realised after I took the photos that there was no journalling so I have tucked a little shipping tag near the top at the back of the LO which also has some twine so people flipping through can see it’s there.

And the right hand PL side

I didn’t really take any photo’s of the individual pockets but I really LOVE how my title card turned out – simple, yet effective so here you go!!

The chippies pieces I have used are as follows:
Triangle Panel Small – all of the mini triangles have come from this
Mini ABC Upper – DA0861N
Mini ABC Lower – DA0862
Love You Arrows – DA1070O
Mini Captions #5 – DA1308I
Word Pack #6 – DA1187

That’s it for me for today but make sure you pull out your chippy and play along with the (yet another!!) gorgeous inspiration board for your chance at a $100 Dusty Attic voucher!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!
