K+ August Challenge | Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Hey, hey my scrappy friends and welcome back to my blog today where I am sharing my first make for August which is for K+ Challenges!

The challenge for August is Rock a bye and be inspired by Nursery Rhymes!

For some reason it took me ages to settle on the rhyme I wanted to use when really it should have simple! This quote is up on my youngest child’s bedroom wall lol

When the Nursery Rhyme came to me this page come together super quickly as I knew I wanted to scrap this photo of me with my newest nephew, Hugo. I chose soft, baby blues and stars (of course!) and got to work.

I love all of the tone on tone blues (mostly the same product too!) on that Kraft cardstock!! Here are a few close ups of my page!

And you can see my process over on my YT channel here or you can simply click play below and enjoy!

I can’t wait to see your take on this fun challenge this month so make sure to head over to both the K+ blog and FB Community to share!

I hope you have enjoyed and I’ll be back again soon with another share!

Until then, happy scrapping!!

K+ July Challenge | Create Art

Hey, hey my scrappy friends and welcome back! It admittedly has been a little while since I blogged anything but here I am for a new month of challenges.

I’m kicking off July with my take on the fun K+ challenge for July and I oh so love this mood board and my finished page!

TBH to start with I was stumped – I have never been to India, I have never done a Bollywood thing in my life and I got all caught up in the actual “Bollywood” theme. And then I looked at the moodboard differently. I simply approached it as a mood board, what inspires me? What jumps out at me? What do I love about it? And then it was easy! Bright, bold colours and (of course!) GOLD!

It’s tricky to see it in the above photo but I have a big gold mandala design in my background that I have used the Foil Quill in my Cameo to create. It is not super obvious in the photo’s but looks great IRL!

So, I have my gold element, time for bold, bright colour! I had a request recently on YT for some Minc action so I pulled out my foil colours and chose blue, pink and orange and then picked paints to match.

Nothing fancy on my back ground, just lots of bright splatters with the 3 colours I chose. And, of course, gold 😉

While that dried I Minc’d my title alphas, going with gold (create) and one of each of the colours (art). I just LOVE how this turned out! Oh, FYI, when I put stickers through the Minc I just stuck those to some baking paper, popped that into the carrier folder with the foil on top and voila!

Getting into the groove of Minc’ing I decided to add more shiny gold! I pulled out some Minc stickers and foiled those in gold too. They had too much white border so I ended up sticking those to white cardstock and trimming after they had been Minc’d.

If you’d like to see my process (and how I went from one design idea to my finished design) please either pop over to my YT channel or simply click play below! I hope you enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by but make sure you head over to the K+ blog too for ALL of the incredible DT inspo over there. The girls on this team are oh so creative!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

K+ February 2019 | We’re All Potterheads | A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone and welcome to my blog today! I cannot believe that we are almost in the middle of February already! If the beginning of the year is any indication this year will be over in no time!

Ok, so onto my share! This one is for the K+ February 2019 challenge and I had lots of fun creating this page! Book inspiration!!

Straight away I knew I wanted to document the love my little family has the Harry Potter series of books and movies so my page came together pretty quickly after I staged my photo 😉

As you can see I have used book paper in my design as well a photo of books.

I have torn pages from an old book and used them to not only layer in my background but to create my title as well!

My title is using a font called Harry P which I found at dafont.com and cut twice on my cameo. Once on plain black cardstock (if you know the trick to getting a perfect cut on black PLEASE share!!) and also on my own patterned paper I created. You can see the full process of how I made my paper in my process video below but here are the few easy steps:

1. Use a scrap piece of cardstock and cover in your wet adhesive of choice – I used matte gel
2. Stick torn pieces of old book paper randomly onto the scrap of card applying the adhesive over the top as well if you want it to seal.
3. From here when it is completely dry you can add anything you like! I have used gelatos and a lot of water. Then I cut on my cameo.
Easy, right?!

Onto my background. I was watching Jess from Scrappy Sisters on YT and she created a full galaxy background on a page she shared which got me to thinking that a galaxy background would a) contrast perfectly with the red and gold in my title and b) I could finally have a play with a galaxy design cause I haven’t been feeling the love for art journalling lately. So I got to work spritzing colour and water onto my background of kraft paper which I had already applied some book paper and white gesso to.

I love how it turned it out in the end.

I kept the embellishing pretty simple using a chippy piece embossed with gold embossing powder and some stars I had cut from the paper I created with a metal die. Oh, and lots of journalling!

I really, really loved this challenge and had so much fun creating it! I hope I have inspired you to play along as well this month! Head over here for all of the A-MAZING creations by the DT and to load up your entry! Good luck and happy scrapping!

K+ January 2019 | The Greatest Thing | A Scrapbook Layout

Hello my creative friends and welcome back to my blog today!

Today’s share is for K+ and though it took a long time for inspiration to hit I really do love my finished page!

First up the inspiration piece for you – “Be inspired by Indigenous Art”

And my finished page

I have used a rhinestone cut file I have had in my Silhouette library for the longest time as I loved the small circles and knew it would work perfectly for the idea that had hit me! I wanted lots of colour peeking behind all of those little circles and started working on my background page while my file was cutting.

I have used a combination of Lindy’s Magical Shakers and also some Brutus Monroe Colour Burst powders. I forgot to write down the colour names but if you’d like to know any or all of them leave me a comment and I can do that for you!

I have used a piece of white AC textured cardstock that I have not prepped in any way and am really impressed with the way it held up as I used a heap of water!

I did some doodling around the circles before adding in my title – a quote I found when I googled “indigenous quotes” – using a whole heap of different alpha stickers.

I added a couple of layers and a few stickers around my layers, sprinkled some gold mist, added journalling and that was my page done! You can see my whole process in my process video, just hit play below and if you haven’t already, please do hit that subscribe button!

I honestly found this challenge quiet tricky but when I found inspiration it came together super easy and I really do love my end page!

Make sure you head over here for the rest of the K+ DT inspiration and to load up your take on this fun challenge!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

K+ December | Stitched Christmas Cards

Hello, hello and welcome once again to my blog!

Today I have my next December share and this one is for the very awesome K+ Needles and Pins challenge for the month!

It took me a little while to work out what I was going to do for this because I do love to stitch on my pages; both hand stitching and machine stitch. But this month I thought I would give my sewing machine a bit of a work out and make some cards!

What do you think?!? I just LOVE how these guys came out in the end! And they were fairly simple to create too, BONUS!

You can see my process (sorry, not my machine stitching, my machine is on the other side of my craft room) below if you’d like to see them come to life!

Here are some photos of each of my cards

And head over here for both the rest of the DT inspiration (oh my, total gorgeousness!!) and to load up your take on this month’s fun challenge. I can’t wait to see where this challenge takes you!

I hope you have enjoyed my share today and until next time, happy scrapping!!

Stuck On You ~ GDT ~ K+ August 2018 Challenge ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone! What a busy start to the month I have had! I hope you are keeping warm and dry wherever you are!

Today’s share is my Guest DT spot for K+ Challenges August 2018 Challenge

This had me STUMPED!!! In my process video I explain how I got to my idea but here is a little run down….

Google is my friend and when I get stuck off I head! A google search for “terracotta” showed me a tonne of terracotta pots and LOTS of photos of the Terracotta Army in China. The pots got me curious as I saw a few with different cactii in them so then googled “Cactus quote” and came up with “Stuck On You” A quick word with Gwen Wruck from Created By Gwen and she shared these adorable cactii cut files she had been working on and sent them to me early to play with them! And here is my finished design

I cut my cactii on Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock and got painting with some Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours (have I mentioned how much I LOVE these?!) and then I backed the open parts of the cut file with some scraps of patterned paper.

Then, would you believe it, I decided to use my sewing machine to stitch the cactii and pots!! This was a mission but oh my, it is so cute and I love how it looks!

I used some embellishments from the Photo Play “Stuck On You” collection and also some stickers.

Make sure you head over here to the K+ blog for lots of inspiration for this months challenge and over here for Gwen’s Cut To You shop!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{Stash} K+ June 2018 Challenge ~ Those That Matter Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone!! I hope you are managing to stay warm and dry wherever you are reading this from, it’s pretty cold in Perth today!!

I have a super quick share today, something I put together at the last retreat I was on and I love it!

I played along (once again!) with the K+ challenge which is be inspired by Dr Seuss and not long before this challenge was shared I had actually used the part of the quote that goes “Cause those that matter don’t mind and those that mind don’t matter” to my Master 8. He had no idea what it meant and even after me explaining it hadn’t quiet sunk it, almost, but not quiet 😉 All good, in time, he will get it and I hope that he will understand what it means!

I played with some acrylic paint for this page and had a really great time just pushing the colour around and flicking with my spatula until I got a result I was happy with!

Some stencilling with some light modelling paste, some stamping and, of course, splatters!

Thanks once again K+ for the fun challenges, I really do love playing along!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

{Stash} K+ April Challenge ~ Recipe Challenge ~ Details

Hello scrappy friends!! A super quick share for you today of my entry for the April 2018 K+ Challenge!

This one was lots of fun and I really love my end result!

I am going to give credit right now where credit is due! For my “something borrowed” I have borrowed 2 ideas! One idea I saw on Scrapaholics Anon by Hollie Heyenga – I’ll try to link her page here! And I also borrowed the idea of the big flip on the right hand side from one of my newest YT crushes Corrie Jones and the page I got inspiration from was here.

Old: Papers (especially that blue spot one – one of my all time faves that I have been hoarding) and of course the whole idea of the wedding, after all we just celebrated our 10th anniversary! Oh, and a couple of punches!
New: Vicky Boutin Art Crayons and also a brand new Distress Crayon in Stormy Sky – the ever popular smooshing technique and of course, splatters 😉 and also those fun gold and wood alphas
Borrowed: The journalling idea and the page design – links above!
Blue: Paper and mixed media

Here are a few close ups!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

Just Adorable ~ A Travellers Notebook Insert

Hey, hey, hey!! I am right on time this month with my K+ share, haha! The end of the month is here already and I managed to sneak in at the last minute as usual!!

Here is the challenge for this month and I struggled for most of the month coming up with an idea but then suddenly, boom it hit me today!!

Here is my take on the September challenge

I decided when I purchased (another!!) a pocket page notebook from The Stamp Spot that I would dedicate it to our Snapchat photos! So many silly, fun photo’s and honestly, how many 12×12 pages can one make with them?!? This is my very first layout in the PPN and I am super happy with it!

Here are a couple of close ups!

I kept it pretty simple; kraft background, gold (in the form of Bling Colour Paste and Colour Shimmer Spray by Colour Blast), black and a little wood veneer and really love how it came out in the end!

There is a process video for this little page as well, just click play in the box below and voila!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!
