Always find time for the things that make you happy to feel alive

Hello again!!

So, for my last post for Scrappingclearly I used the Kaisercraft Time Machine Collection Pack and while I still had that out and was working outside of my norm I decided to pull out my beloved copic markers and also my art journal! Now, to say that I love this page would certainly be an understatement! I had SO MUCH FUN pulling all this together and just loved the process!

Here is my completed spread in my journal

And now, my process!

First up I prepped the double page with a coat of gesso – I didn’t really have a finished design in mind but I had already pulled out all of the round elements from the Time Machine Collectables pack so had an idea of colour scheme and the very loose idea of steampunk.

After my gesso dried I laid out all of my pieces from the collectables pack across the 2 pages and used a clear matt medium to stick them all down and also applied a coat over the top to seal them in.

I did “cheat” here and use my heat gun to get it to dry off as my plan was really beginning to come together in my head 🙂

I then grabbed the stamp set from the Time Machine collection and used a selection of the stamps with a brown chalk ink from my stash and also the teal Heidi Swapp ink pad – both are permanent inks and safe to apply wet mediums over the top of when dry. Again, I used my heat tool so I could move onto the next layer. Which was texture paste. I used a cogs stencil and paste from my stash and actually left that to dry for a few hours.

While that was drying I started colouring up my image – which is a digital stamp I purchased from Saturated Canary and printed to fit about 2/3 of the height of my journal page. I decided to go with sepia tones with a pop of gold (on the cogs) and that fun pop of teal. When she was all coloured I up I fussy cut her out. Needless to say, I was totally inspired by the classes I have taken over at Kit and Clowder and cannot recommend Alyce’s classes highly enough!! In fact, she has a whole class on mixed media techniques using this image and it is well worth a look!

Copic colours used are as follows:
Browns/sepia tones: E50, E51, E53, E55, E57 and E59
Teal/aqua: BG11, BG13, BG49 and BG78
Gold: Y11, Y15 and E15

My next step was COLOUR on the pages! I used a super fun and easy technique and literally splashed/threw water all over the pages and then splashed/threw Heidi Swapp colour shine in Tea and Teal all over. When the inks met the water and each other they blend together and give this gorgeous water coloured/mottled effect and I really, really love how it dries. Before it dried I added a few splashed of Gold colour shine and some of that also blended together with the other colours. When that was completely dry I went back in again with the gold and applied bigger splatters.

I got the quote directly from the Time Machine stamp set. I used the tiny tile alphas from the Time Machine collection pack and also these fun gold foiled scrabble style thickers to replicate the quote on my page. I did have to use some hot glue to get the alphas through the centre of the pages to REALLY stick 😉

Once that was all dry my page was completed! This was such a fun way to use up so much of that collectables pack and it was great to make the time to pull out my copics and get messy!

Thanks so much for stopping by and see you soon!

Happy scrapping!

A bit of this and a bit of that….

Hello there and happy 2016!! I hope this brand new year is being good to you so far and that you all had a joyous and love filled Christmas!

I am here today sharing a couple of non-DD projects that I neglected to share pre-Christmas. I had the craziest 10 or so days ever and have fallen behind in everything but all my photo’s are printed and in our DD album!

But for now I will share the frame I made for my lucky winner over on my FB page To The Stars and Back and also a 12×12 layout I made as part of my term on the Dusty Attic DT while they sponsored the challenge over at Scrap Around the World in December.

First up here is the finished coloured fairy as a refresher that I popped into a frame 🙂

And the finished product 🙂

As you can see I kept it pretty simple so that my little fairy stole the show 😉 That paper in the background is actually a piece of patterned paper from a 6×6 paper stack, perfectly matched! A doily and some little resin stars 🙂 Rosalee loved it and I believe it was going to her grand daughter so I hope she too loves it!!

And onto my 2nd share for this post – a 12×12 layout I created using a photo from our wedding vow renewal in April last year 🙂

I found the #happy range by Websters Pages AGES ago and KNEW that I would want to use it to scrap some of these photos so I have used that as the background layer, added in some floral pieces from one of the Maggie Holmes floral ephemera packs and then used a Dusty Attic chippy for the title, a frame, an XOXO piece and also a little row of hearts. Oh, and that gorgeous  potion bottle! The glitter is Stampin Up gold glass glitter and I LOVE how it turned out! The potion bottle was coated in white (as was the mini frame) and then I water coloured the leaves and cork.

A close up of the detail in the middle of the page – I am really so happy with how this turned out and can’t wait to make some more layout’s using both this range and those photos!!

And, finally, a close up of the title and the potion jar!

I hope you have liked seeing these projects and I hope to be back very soon with another post!!

Happy scrapping!

I graduated!!

Hi there!!

Just wanted to pop in and share some very exciting news with you!

I have been joining in the fun over on the Kit and Clowder website and am currently enrolled in the Skin & Hair, the Clothing and the All About Animals Technique Classes as well as the brand new Perfecting Pencils class. I finally managed to make the time to complete the Skin & Hair class and have officially graduated!!

Here is my graduation certificate, which I am totally stoked with!!

My final class images, which I am so proud of!

And my “before” and “after” class images.

I can’t believe the amount of depth I am now able to achieve when I colour and I  couldn’t have come this far without the amazing class’s and the very talented and supportive Alyce. So, again, thank you so much. I am slowly working through the Clothing Class next and have a bit of a peek in both the Perfecting Pencils and the All About Animals classes. Here are my before images for those classes.

I can’t wait to get the chance to have a “proper” play soon and see the results!!
As always, thank you very much for stopping by and if you are looking for colouring classes, I seriously cannot recommend Alyce and her classes highly enough!!

Happy scrapping!

A productive crop day/night!!

Hi there!!

Today I am sharing with you some projects I STARTED and COMPLETED at a crop last Saturday!!

I am so super impressed with myself – it’s not very often I can say I’m productive at crops and such!!

Here is my 1st project – my son’s (who will be 1 on 27th August!) birth announcements. These are a hybrid project – I found some super cute baby boy papers on Etsy from The Dapper Fox ScrapsI added a couple of the designs to some 6×4 templates in PSE10, added some text to one of the layers and printed out my 2 layers and my photo’s (with a white border). I then matched some Midnight Muse (Stampin Up) cardstock to the papers I printed and got trimming, sticking and pop dotting.

Here is the finished project and I am so very happy with them:

And a little close up:

I also managed to create my August ATC swap for a FB group – Aussie Scrappers Society to which the theme was Steampunk/Industrial. That is not really my “norm” so I had a heap of fun doing something different and stepping out of my comfort zone. I did some stamping, heat embossing, distressing with inks and also distressing the edges and using some charms that I was keeping for “something”!!

Here they are:

And a close up:

These guys are going postal today 🙂 And, again, I’m pretty happy with the finished design 🙂

I also managed a start on another of Alyce’s (over at Kit and Clowder) card kits – July “Charmings” kit but couldn’t hear the video very well so gave that up and went back to my PL. Not anything to show you for that as it was mostly journalling here and there. But I feel like I achieved a fair bit so I am super happy!!

I hope I can help to inspire you to create something fun and maybe something out of YOUR norm. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

And just a couple of close ups of this cute little fairy 🙂

I don’t know if you have noticed but I think my colouring has improved a heap and would like to give full credit to Alyce over at Kit and Clowder!! She colours her images in such an amazing way and I am totally in love with everything she does!! And she has the best video tutorials!!

I’m also sharing a sneaky peek of a wedding card I worked on earlier in the week – a sneak peek cause the wedding is tomorrow and I want the bride and groom to see it before sharing it in full 🙂

Well Happy Thursday to all of you my lovely blog readers and I hope to back early next week with some more completed Project Life pages 🙂
