CUT to YOU | Make A Wish | 12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog today! I hope you have all enjoyed the lovely long weekend and celebrating all that we have and all that we are here in Australia!

Today I have my next share for you for Gwen’s CUT to YOU store and I am using a “Christmas” cut file for a page for my littlest guy’s most recent BIRTHDAY!! Yep, you read that right, a christmas cut for a birthday!! #winning

I have used the Make A Wish cut file in 2 sizes for this page. In actual fact, these were left over cuts from a card class I taught here in December and as I was packing up this idea came to my mind and I had so much fun making it come to life!

Here is the page I created and I really love it!!

I started with my background on my white cardstock – I think I used Bazzill Marshmallow. I applied a coat of clear gesso prior to starting and then pulled out a fun Echo Park bat stencil and got to stencilling some modelling paste onto my white cardstock.

I have then used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours to add colour, well, not colour lol, to m background. I have used lots of water and paint and just added the colour until I was happy with how it looked over the top of the dried modelling paste. You can see in my process video just how I added the black!

When my background was dry I added some splatters in yellow using Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in yellow – I think my all time fave bright, happy, sunshiney yellow! And then in gold – using my watercolours and a paint brush.

While that dried I grabbed my die cut “Wish” words and randomly added in 3 different yellow colours using a combination of spritzing the colour on and painting it on. I have used Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Butter, Lindy’s Magical Shaker in California Poppy Gold and Colour Burst by Ken Oliver in Zest. I love the sparkle and the different shades of yellow on the cut files!

After that was all dry it was time to build up my layers behind my photo. I have once again pulled out my scrap box and looked for yellow, grey, black and white and layered them randomly behind my photo until I was happy with the way they looked.

I stuck the cut files down first as they were part of my background and then my photo cluster. I didn’t want to or need to add too much more as embellishment but added in a couple of Batman flair badges and some more splatter in both yellow and white.

My title was created with white thickers that I coloured with the Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Butter. And finally, some white, black and grey enamel dots sprinkled all over the page and some yellow prills to 3 areas using matt medium. Oh, and of course a little journalling under my photos!

I really, really love the way this page came out. In fact, I think it’s better than I had it planned in my head lol and that is a rare occurrence!

I hope you have enjoyed and that I have inspired you to perhaps look at your “themed” cut files in a bit of a different light!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

Scrap The Boys | November 2018 | You + Me | A Scrapbook Layout

Hey, hey and happy November! Oh my goodness, yes I wrote that correctly, November!!! How?! Dear time, please slow down!

Ok, now I am breathing again today I am here to share my first DT make for the month and it is, of course, for Scrap The Boys.

Do you love the simplicity of this?! And the fact that perhaps you have a photo of one of your guys with you or another loved girl that you have permission to use this month?!? Haha! I decided months ago, when this photo was taken (in June!) that I was using this photo for this challenge and here is my page!

I have used another of the awesome cut files designed by Gwen over at CUT to YOU. In fact, it was one I used on a page I shared just last week but looks very different today! You can pick up the digi version here and the custom cut here.

I have a process video up if you’re keen to see how this page came together just click on the play button below.

And a shameless plug for myself – I have set myself a goal to reach 1000 subbies by end of year so if you are not yet a subbie I would for you to head on over to my YT channel and hit that subscribe button if you like what you have seen today!

Ok, now back to the page! A photo of hubby and I all dressed up and celebrating the “end” of the fire season.

I’ve used my Kuetake Gansai Tambi water colours to colour the heart (and if you watch the process video you will see that my end design is NOT what I had planned to start with – see it morph lol!) and matched the colours as best I could to the gorgeous Vicki Boutin All The Good Things collection as I knew I wanted to embellish with that range.

I’ve used a few ephemera flowers and a couple of the paper clip thingies and I really love how this page ended up!

Here are a couple more close ups.

I hope I have inspired you to play along with the November challenge at Scrap The Boys and remember to head over the STB blog to check out the amazing work from the rest of the team and to load up your own entry!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Stuck On You ~ GDT ~ K+ August 2018 Challenge ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone! What a busy start to the month I have had! I hope you are keeping warm and dry wherever you are!

Today’s share is my Guest DT spot for K+ Challenges August 2018 Challenge

This had me STUMPED!!! In my process video I explain how I got to my idea but here is a little run down….

Google is my friend and when I get stuck off I head! A google search for “terracotta” showed me a tonne of terracotta pots and LOTS of photos of the Terracotta Army in China. The pots got me curious as I saw a few with different cactii in them so then googled “Cactus quote” and came up with “Stuck On You” A quick word with Gwen Wruck from Created By Gwen and she shared these adorable cactii cut files she had been working on and sent them to me early to play with them! And here is my finished design

I cut my cactii on Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock and got painting with some Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours (have I mentioned how much I LOVE these?!) and then I backed the open parts of the cut file with some scraps of patterned paper.

Then, would you believe it, I decided to use my sewing machine to stitch the cactii and pots!! This was a mission but oh my, it is so cute and I love how it looks!

I used some embellishments from the Photo Play “Stuck On You” collection and also some stickers.

Make sure you head over here to the K+ blog for lots of inspiration for this months challenge and over here for Gwen’s Cut To You shop!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{Scrap The Boys} August 2018 Challenge ~ Angry-Octo-Cool-O-Saurus in Boots ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone and welcome to August!!

I have a lot of things happening this month and first one up is my Scrap The Boys share for this month! This month our sponsor is the lovely Gwen from the Cut To You store. We got the very versatile Wild Geometric cut to work with – which is available both as a digital download (which is what I got) or as a custom cut – Gwen will cut it and send it to you – and I had lots of fun splattering paint and making it work for my page.

And here is the inspiration for the month! I know that my page looks nothing like it however the “Stay Wild” spoke to me and told me to use this set of photo’s of my big boy from a few years ago, lol!! This child cracks me up!

I have used watercolours and plain white textured cardstock to cut and customise my cut file.

I have also used the Oasis Tropical Leaves cut file (digital file is here and custom cut is here) to add to the whole “wild” theme.

Here are a few close ups!

I have a process video available if you would like to see my whole process

And head over here to see the rest of the amazing work the design team girls have done!!

We would love for you to play along with us this month and can’t wait to see what you come up with!!

Till next time, happy scrapping!

{STB Collab} Together ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hello my scrappy friends and welcome to my blog today!! I have a fun share for you as part of the Scrap The Boys 2018 DT.

STB has collaborated with Stick It Down Challenge Blog and their February challenge and this fun sketch!

We were lucky enough to get to play with a couple of cut files from Stick It Down and I (of course!) chose the fun star cut file and got to work! Here is my take on the sketch! You too can play with the cut files by heading over to the Scrap The Boys Blog to pick them up free but make sure you also head over to Laura’s blog and leave some love as she is the creator of these awesome files!!

I love how this came together and if you are interested I have a process video available which I will link right here for you – all you need to do is press play!

I have used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours for the this and seriously, they are BEAUTIFUL to work with!!

I didn’t add to much in the way of embellishment’s, I wanted that star to shine as the centre piece but kept within the blues and greens!

Here are a few close ups!

Make sure you head over to the SID blog too for all of the fun challenges they do every month! Lots of things to chose from! And also the STB blog here to see what the rest of our DT has come up with – there is some stunning work!!

That’s it for me for today so I’ll see you again really soon with something new!!

Happy scrapping!
