{Colour Blast} Flying Baby ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey my scrappy friends, today I am here sharing my latest DT make for Colour Blast Australia.

I decided to play along with the August challenge this month and instead of using just one product I have used 2 but in a RAINBOW of colours!!

Here again is the August challenge for you

I have used the Colour Spray and a Colour Paste.

Here is the line up of my sprays

Like I said, a RAINBOW! In it’s true ROYGBIV form! Yep, I’m using Indigo and Violet but from left to right the colours are:
Love, Sunset, Saffron, Rainforest, Lagoon, Indigo and Violet.

And just a refresher if you are  not sure, the Colour Sprays are beautifully pigmented flat colour with no shimmer but gorgeous none the less!!

Here is what I did with my Colour Sprays

This is a technique I have been meaning to use for ages but just kept forgetting! I have simply sprayed each colour 2 or 3 times straight onto the bubble wrap – which I cut to roughly 12×12 size – and then put my textured card stock on top and did some reverse stamping! No gesso needed as there was  not a lot of water being added to the page.

This is what my stamping looked like!! I just love it! And so too does my 7 year old who chose the photo’s I am scrapping today 😉 Needless to say, they HAD to be of him!!

I left that to dry naturally and added a couple of layers of white tissue paper behind my photo. By the time I got that stuck my background was dry and ready for me to do my next layer, which was some stamping in both a light and dark grey ink.

I did a real quick dry off with my heat tool and added another layer. This time I wanted sparkle and not much colour so I grabbed the beautiful Snow White Colour Paste and this fun 7 Dots stencil.

As you can see in the photo the paste goes on white with some shimmer but as it dries it goes clear with SO MUCH shimmer. It is beautiful and I love that you can still see the stamping and the rainbow through the paste.

Time for some coordinating embellishments.

I chose wood veneer from Cocoa Vanilla Studios and 3 of the Colour Sprays – Love, Lagoon and Indigo and just painted the colour straight onto the veneer. I hurried along the drying process with my heat tool and then my next step was, of course, more shimmery goodness!!

I used my embossing ink dabber and of course the Snow White Colour Embossing Powder. 2 coats just to make sure they were super shimmery 😉

With all of my bits coloured and dried it was time to assemble my page and here is the final design

I felt that the white edge left a little something to be desired so I found this fun rainbow patterned paper in my stash, gutted it, cut down my white and attached my page. I think it really makes the whole page come together – especially with that rainbow stitched border!

Here are a few more close ups! Well, quiet a few close ups actually! Enjoy!

Here you can see all that beautiful shimmer from the Colour Paste!

I tried to keep the embellishments within the background colours and love how the veneer came out!

So, that is my challenge for August done and I love the end result using a technique I have wanted to try for AGES!

There is a process video available, just click the play button below!

You can load up your take on the challenge here in the FB group and I hope I have inspired you to play along for the chance of a Colour Blast voucher!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{Colour Blast} Details ~ A Wedding Scrapbook Page

Hi, hi and hello!! I’m here with you today sharing another somewhat “clean” mixed media scrapbook page!

I had this cut file on my computer that I have been desperate to play with so finally manged to cut it and get creating with it! You will notice that along the left hand side there are a couple of other pieces that I had cut – these were for another project but I figured I may as well use up the whole 12×12 – 2 (well, actually 3) birds with one stone 😉

I have left the cut file on my mat for all of the wet mediums that I apply and I have not applied gesso at all!

First up, I challenged myself to use something other than blues and greens so I pulled all of my reddish/pink Colour Blast products.

These are in order, from left to right, front to back, as follows:
Colour Spray – Bubblegum, Sunset, Love
Colour Shimmer Spray – Rose Petal, Lipstick, Snow White and Bling
Colour Shimmer Dust – Lollipop and Candy
Colour Mica Powder – Watermelon
Colour Paste – Lipstick, Fire Engine, Rose Petal and Bling

The first layer was the beautiful Colour Shimmer Dusts – I used both the Lollipop and Candy. I leave my paint tray to air dry when I still have colour left over so I simply used a dropper to add a few drops of water and re-activate the colour.

I used a wet brush and literally just painted the 2 colours here, there and wherever took my fancy!

Next up I added the Watermelon Mica Powder. I added a tiny amount to some old packaging with a spatula, added a few drops of water and applied in the same way as the Shimmer Dust.

Because I wasn’t using heaps of water the colours dried pretty quickly but I wasn’t too concerned about the colours mixing anyway as they were all from the same family.

Next up the sprays. I used the Bubblegum and Love Colour Sprays and literally again, just squirted some here and there. And then to some of the more “splotty” areas I used a wet paintbrush to give more of a water colour effect.

Last layer of pink colour!! The beautiful Colour Shimmer Sprays. I used the Rose Petal and the Lipstick and applied the exact same technique as with the Colour Sprays.

After that was dried I peeled off my cut file from my cutting mat and decided I wanted a little pop of more colour starting with some splatter in the Bubblegum Colour Spray.

Next up some gold so out came the Bling Colour Paste and stencil from Dusty Attic. I applied the paste randomly across the cut file in a few different places and left to air dry.

I wanted a little more sparkle and shine so again, Bling to the rescue! This time the Colour Shimmer Spray. I used the nozzle to apply drips and then I spritzed over the whole cut file from distance for an all over very subtle shine. Oh la la!!

Time to assemble the page! Or so I thought! I had picked out my photo but decided I needed a little something extra behind it so, again, Bling to my rescue!

First up the Shimmer Spray applied with a dry paint brush straight onto the white cardstock. After that dried another stencil with the Colour Paste. Perfect, just what it needed.

NOW I can assemble my layout!

I was terrified as I was working on the cut file that it was going to be Oh My Goodness, that is so PINK but up against the white cardstock with the black and white photo it is not as PINK as I expected so I am super happy with how it all worked out in the end.

Look at that shiny gold sparkle in the background, so beautiful!!

Right at the end I decided I needed something extra. Some tiny black splatters! I pulled out my Roadbase Colour Spray and a tiny little paint brush and flicked a little splatter all around. Voila, one completed page!

I hope I inspire you to challenge yourself to do something a little different. To just have a play! Please do come and share your work in the Facebook group here, we love to see what everyone is doing with their Colour Blast stash!

Until next time!

{Colour Blast DT} Secret Santa Gift Tags

Hi there my lovely followers! I am here with you today sharing some fun Christmas tags I made for my family Secret Santa gift exchange!

I seriously had a lot of fun putting these together and just playing so I really cannot recommend highly enough JUST PLAYING! It’s so fun and you never know, you may make your most fave thing ever!

If you would like to see my process click on the link below for my process video, otherwise read on for my step-by-steps!!

First up I cut some tag shapes with my Silhouette Cameo (you could do the same with either a die, some pre-cut tags or even hand cut your own tags) onto plain white cardstock. I used my sketch pens and I font I LOVE to write out everyone’s name knowing I wanted to water colour them.

I left the tags attached to my mat so that I could easily keep track of all the bits and took it over to my work space and got to work.

First up some grey chalk ink with a Darkroom Door background stamp (Christmas Script) randomly stamped across all the tags.

I then grabbed the gorgeous Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust, added a little to an empty ephemera pack with a little water and used a little paint brush to colour the names on each of the tags.

I used some of the left over mix to add splatters across all the tags and when that was dry moved onto the colour paste.

I grabbed a little stencil from my stash and my Steel Colour Paste and again, added that randomly through the stencil across all the tags.

I knew I wanted to include pops of red so I grabbed out some packaging and my Love Colour Spray to do the trusty packaging technique to add some pops of red.

I used the nozzle to apply some splatters of the Love across all the tags as well.

I decided to add a flair to each tag so grabbed a few from my stash along with some red sewing thread to make a little nest for each flair.

After they were all attached I decided I wanted a little more sparkle so grabbed my Steel Colour Shimmer Spray and added some splatters with the nozzle.

A couple of finishing touches including red and white twine and some sequins and 8 tags ready to go!

I’m really pleased with how these turned out and best of all I really did have a lot of fun creating them!

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas Day celebrations and perhaps some of you even found some Colour Blast goodies under the tree?!

I can’t wait to share my next post in the New Year so until then, stay safe, celebrate in style and get messy!

{ScrappingClearly DT} Some People Scrapbook Layout

Hello there, I’m here with you today sharing my latest layout using the gorgeous MME “My Story” range available in the ScrappingClearly store!

Here is my layout and I really love how it all came together!

I started with that big cut file that I got from Just Nick studio. It’s called Some People and I seriously LOVE it! I used a mix of Colour Blast Sprays in Love and Sunset (these 2 are colour spray – flat colour, no shimmer) and also Sunshine, Tangerine Dream and Bling (these 3 are shimmer spray, so, so pretty!!) and the very fancy plastic packaging technique after I applied a coat of gesso and VERY carefully peeled the file off my cutting mat!

Here is a close up of the cut file and I love all the different colours in it. I chose my colours based on the colours in the MME collection florals.

I have a couple of layers behind my photo using the Grandma’s Quilt paper and also some of the GORGEOUS vellum from the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection. The background paper is the B side of the BEAUTIFUL Heirloom Rose’s paper and thankfully I had a second sheet so I could fussy cut some of those stunning florals!

I added a very subtle detail using a stencil from my stash and some pretty Colour Blast Bling Colour Paste on the area behind the photo.

I’ve kept the embellishing pretty simple with only a couple of the floral clusters, some of the cute as cork hearts from the Pink Paislee C’est La Vie collection, some of the WRMK Clearly Posh giant enamel dots and a few sequins from the Red/Pink Studio Calico sequin pack.

And of course, it was finished off with a sprinkle of Colour Blast Bling Colour Shimmer spray and also a simple label sticker from the Paper and Acessories kit. I didn’t feel like this page needed any journalling (which is unusual for me!) because that title said everything I wanted to say 🙂

Here are a couple of close ups and I also have a process video you can watch if you’d like to see this page come together you can see that here.

That’s it for me for today, please if you have any questions or comments leave them below and I will get back to you ASAP!

Thanks for stopping by and remember to go and create something!

Some wedding layouts!!

Hello there and welcome to my blog!!

Today I am sharing some 12×12 LO’s that I have recently put together of our wedding from 2008. Yup, only 7 years behind but I now feel confident enough to play with 12×12 layouts!! So all up there are 10 pages in our album and over the last month or so I have pulled 7 together!!

I will add here that a little while ago I pulled bits and pieces from my stash for a “wedding kit” which lives in it’s own separate little box so I have some idea what I have to hand to work in with the colours that I have chosen – well the colours that our wedding used 😉 Pink, grey/silver, black and white. My current style also begged to have a few pops of gold and teal thrown in!! And I am also more than happy to use other bits from stash. I used this video from Shimelle Laine as a guide to pulling a kit together if you are interested in pulling your own kit together for either a special occasion or just get your stash used!

I will share them in order of creation starting with this page I pulled together for a NSD challenge I participated in over at the Scrappy Canary VIP Lounge FB group.

This is a photo of my 2 beautiful niece’s immediately after out ceremony sharing a little bonding moment as 2 cousins that had only met a few days prior.

And a couple of close ups

Next up is this layout that I scrap lifted from the amazingly talented Fiona Paltridge from this video on YouTube. This layout took me a few days to complete doing a bit here and bit there but I LOVE the way it turned out!! So happy with it!!

This layout took me completely out of my comfort zone – so many new things to try but like I said, LOVE how it turned out!!

And a few close ups

Next up are 2 layouts I created on a scrapbooking retreat I recently went to. Both were for challenges – one was a kit challenge – full of delicious Bella Blvd Colour Chaos goodies and the other was a colour challenge. Again, I’m really very happy with how both of these turned out!!

Both of these were inspired, again, by Shimelle Laine – I just adore her style and her classes! The 1st was inspired by a class called Hitchhickers Guide to Scrapbooking and one of the “starting points” she talked about. This was the kit challenge.

And a few close ups

And the 2nd from retreat was inspired by this “Glitter Girl” (aka Shimelle Laine) video.

Again, I’m really happy with how this one turned out too!!

Here are a few close ups

I just adore that Charms Creation heart – simply beautiful!!

And onto the last 3 layouts which again, were inspired by Shimelle Laine – this time her brand new class Ready Steady Scrapbook. I will share these in class order – so class 1 will be 1st, class 2 2nd and class 3 3rd 🙂

And a couple of close ups

Class 2

And some close ups

And class 3

And I think this is my most fave of the 3 from the class! I love, love, love that the design is so simple and that those beautiful papers that I was “saving for that special page” are totally on display and used!!

A few close up’s of this one too and I’m done!!

So, that is it for me for today!!

I hope you have liked seeing what I have been working on and now our album is starting to look a bit more full!!

If you are looking for some fun and easy classes I honestly cannot recommend Shimelle’s classes highly enough!! Full of great information and lots and lots of ideas!!

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!
