{ScrappingClearly} DD 2016 Catch Up

Hello there ScrappingClearly fans!! Melinda here with you today sharing some more of our 2016 December Daily album.

As I have been working on this years album I have pulled out all of my Christmas supplies including the gorgeous Pink Fresh Oh Joy Collection that I received last year from Kylie!! Follow the link and you can find all of the bits still available!

I have 5 pages to share with you today all of which are pretty simple but all tell a December story and I am loving how this album is coming together so far!

First up, I’ll share the pages exactly as they sit in my album and then I’ll give you a close look at each page with a bit of “this is what I did/used” with each! I hope you enjoy!

So, up first was our day 16 on the left and day 17 on the right. I do still need to finish off the back of day 17 but it has a friends child and I didn’t want to share without permission 😉

The next pages I have to show you are for day 19. Yep, you did read correctly, I jumped from 17 to 19 😉 All good however, I know where I have gaps but have all my photo’s printed so it’s easy for me to go back and complete!! If you are struggling with your own DD (current or past!) this year I have found having the photo’s at least printed and in pockets helps immensely!

And the last page I have to share is the back of our day 19 – Santa photos 😉

So, here are the close ups and some more info!

Day 16!
First day of our school holidays last year and Pixie our Scout Elf decided it was a good idea to have a movie day! I’m not loving how that photo ended up getting cut where it did but it’s in the album and I can always re-crop and change it out if it bothers me that much!

For this page I have used some of the gold foiled phrase stickers, some of the Oh Joy Puffy Stickers a 3×4 card I cut from the 6×6 Paper Pad and also a 3×4 card cut from the B side of the Oh Joy 12×12 Winter Wonderland Paper.

I wanted that house with the 16 to pop a little so I grabbed a small white doily and my Bling Colour Shimmer Pot and painted away. With the left over paint I added splatters on the grey card and also on the 6×8 facing page.

Day 17 started with a piece cut from the Oh Joy 12×12 Winter Wonderland Paper cut to about 5 3/4″ x 7 3/4″ and mounted on white cardstock. I’ve used 2 of the Oh Joy Acetate Die Cuts and for my number have used some red alphas from my stash.

Day 19. Well, page 1 day 19 😉
I simply printed my 2 photos at 3×4 and slipped them straight into the pocket. The bottom 6×4 card was cut from a sheet in the Oh Joy 6×6 Paper Pad.
I’ve used some number stamps and a punch from my stash on one of my offcuts from the paper pad to stamp out the day and used a pop dot to adhere on the O in season. Journalling, a phrase sticker and a stamp with gold ink and done!

Day 19, page 2.
I always like to include individual photo’s of my boys with Santa as well as one of the 3 of them. This is one of my most fave traditions and I’ve loved seeing the way they react to Santa and how their belief changes and grows each year! This was pretty simple as well – I printed this at 5×7, grabbed a page protector, used some washi and re-punched some holes. A couple of really quick embellishments including another of those punched stars.

And last but not least, me and Santa! Again, I do at some point each include a photo of me with Santa. I love the magic and wonder that go hand in hand with believing and how that believing turns into magic for others. Again, a couple of super quick embellishments including an Oh Joy Puffy Sticker and calling it done!

I am loving how this album is coming together and can’t wait to get a “proper” start on this years albums as well. Like I said, I’ve printed my photo’s up to Thursday and know what stories I will be telling. I will stumble a little when I get to Saturday, I had my Aunty’s wedding which was great but also my niece babysat my boys and I got a few great photos from her!! Decisions, decisions!! Haha!

I hope you are having a fabulous December regardless of whether you document each day or just your faves. Remember to pop over to the store, you can do a really quick search for “Christmas” and all the Christmas goodies will pop up! In fact, I’ve already done it for you, just click on the “Christmas” above and it will take you straight to the search results!!

I will be back again on Boxing Day so have a fabulous Christmas, enjoy your day however you may spend it and stay scrappy!!

{ScrappingClearly} Merry & Bright ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hey and welcome to my blog today!
Today I’m here with you sharing my take on the dramatic and bold November mood board for ScrappingClearly – once again designed by the very talented Peg!!

I was drawn immediately to the colours (as I’m sure you worked out already!) and decided that it would the perfect time to scrap last years Santa photo of my boys. Here’s a little refresher of the mood board.

I’ve used a white card stock base as I knew straight away I wanted to randomly spread some black gesso on my page in 2 places – one for my main photo and the other as a smaller embellishment cluster to the side. When my gesso was dried I grabbed my Bling Colour Shimmer Pot by Colour Blast and my biggest round paintbrush to add splatters. I love how the gold pops off the black!

I used a couple of paper layers behind my photo, Peppermint Stix (the text side) 12×12 paper by Heidi Swapp and also the Joyful Christmas 12×12 paper by Pink Fresh Studio from last years Oh Joy collection, cut to size and distressed the edges using my scissors (I couldn’t find my tool!).

I have grabbed 2 tags from the Teresa Collins Tinsel & Co Tags Ephemera pack (and chopped off the bottoms) to also layer. I also used a punch from my stash to cut a couple of labels to use – one from one of the tag off cuts and the other from one of the patterned papers to add into my layers.

My title came from the gorgeous Oh Joy Gold Acrylic Stickers sheet – however a note – be super careful as you pull them off – the delicate ones are fragile!! Love the way it pops on that black!

My final steps were my journalling using a white gel pen and some splatters watering down some white gesso and using a paint brush (one of my new ones by the way, I picked up in the store here during the Black Friday sale!!) to splatter all over (I actually remembered to cover my photo!!).

I really love how this page came together! Better than I had expected in fact. You have until the end of the month to get your own challenges completed and loaded up into the correct FB album on the ScrappingClearly group, so I hope you get some time to play and go into the draw for a voucher to the store!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{ScrappingClearly} Heart This Tradition ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hello there scrappy friends!! I hope today finds you well and not too confused by my blog post title! Today I’m here with you and I am sharing a CHRISTMAS page I created for my latest share for ScrappingClearly! Yep, Christmas.

Kylie very generously sent me the Pink Fresh Oh Joy collection for scrapping my December memories (which I am S-L-O-W-L-Y) getting through but oh boy, I just love every single thing about this collection!! It is gorgeous, Pink Fresh always do an amazing job designing!

Enough chatter and onto my page! I needed a little help picking my photo today as I have photos of each of my boys with Santa, both of them with Santa and myself with Santa and he picked Mummy and Santa!! This is a little tradition I have done almost every year as an adult and honestly, I love it!! I believe it helps to keep some of the magic alive in me which in turn keeps the magic alive for my boys.

Here is my page and I love how it came together!!

I was, however, going in with every intention of NOT doing mixed media, as you can clearly see, that was an epic fail!! Haha! But I have used some Colour Sprays from Colour Blast (Sapphire to be exact) and the very simple packaging technique!

When my spray was dried I added some stencilling using a Tim Holtz mini layering stencil (the exact one I used is not in store but Kylie has a few others in stock) and the beautiful Bling Colour Paste.

I have ONLY used scraps from the 6×6 paper pad to layer behind my photo and that black and white 12×12 paper in the background (Under The Tree) has a big heart cut out of the middle of it that I used on a previous project! I simply cut down my other paper (Tis the Season) to a size I could see would cover the heart and added some white gesso!

Next up I added in some stickers and that beautiful gold mirror gift sticker. I added a few splatters of the same colour I smooshed and also some splatters of gold water colour and Roadbase Colour Spray.

I love how this page came together and if you are interested you can watch my whole process simply by pressing the play button below or heading over to YouTube to either the ScrappingClearly YT channel or my own YT channel!

As always, thanks for stopping by! If you are like me and still scrapping last years (not to mention all the previous years!!) Christmas photos make sure you head to the shop for this gorgeous collection, it will not disappoint!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

Hello scrappy friends!! I’m here with you today using the beautiful February sketch for ScrappingClearly to create another Christmas page using the Pink Fresh Studio Oh Joy Collection.

Here is a refresher of the sketch designed by the very talented Peg, also on the DT

And here is my take on the sketch

This turned out differently to how I had imagined but I am super happy with how it came together and even though I had a couple of challenges, it made me think a little differently and pushed me to try something different 😉

If you would like to see the whole process please click below and you can watch my page come together:

Since I went with a white card stock background I did some packaging technique on the cardstock after applying a quick, light coat of gesso around where I knew the heart was going to be. I have used 3 Colour Blast sprays – Singin’ The Blues, Apple of My Eye (both are shimmer sprays) and Love (flat colour spray) and some old plastic packaging.

I decided to pull out my colouring pencils (Prisma colours) and colour some of the shapes in the background in matching colours to the Oh Joy range and I have also hand stitched around the border of the heart in white embroidery floss.

You can see some of the gorgeous watercolour-y effect here behind the heart.

And also here. You see in the above photo that I have take a couple of paper strips and used a border punch and a border die to cut these pieces to layer under the photo’s in place of the lace/ribbon that is in the sketch.

That’s it for me for today! Thank you so much for stopping by and make sure you get your entries in for the fun February challenges over in the FB group here. Kylie has some awesome prizes up for grabs, as always!!

{ScrappingClearly} Love This

Hi there scrappy friends I’m here with you today sharing my latest page for Scrappingclearly. I’m scrapping a photo of myself and hubby from Christmas Day last year using the gorgeous Oh Joy collection by Pink Fresh Studio.

There is a process video too, just click on the play button below and enjoy!

Here is my page and I really love how it turned out. It’s pretty clean and simple for me but I did add a VERY light coat of white gesso behind where my photo and title went to help them pop and sprinkled on some mists 🙂

I used one of the metal dies in my stash and one of the papers in the 6×6 paper pad to create my title.

I pulled lots of bits and pieces from the collection to embellish the page and really love the clean design of this!

Kylie still has this gorgeous collection in store and if you are anything like me, still scrapping away those photo’s from Christmas Past head over and order up before it all disappears – it really is a gorgeous collection!

{ScrappingClearly DT} Tis The Season To Be Silly

Hey there scrappy friends! I hope you are managing to fit in some scrappy time at this busy time of year! I finally found some of my missing mojo and got to play in my craft room this week!

Today I am sharing a page I created using the gorgeous Pink Fresh Studio Oh Joy collection! If you haven’t seen it yet you can see it here in store but I will link to each product for you!!

I have also done a process video for this page and if you click below you can watch 🙂

I chose 2 photo’s of my boys from Christmas morning last year. They are so funny and can be so silly, hence the title of the page. The journalling tells the story and reads as such

“Trying to get a “good” photo of them together is near impossible. Wriggling, giggling little boys!! They mucked around so much I told them to get their silly on – photo #1! When they were done “Look at Mum and smile boys!!” – photo #2. Love both of them. Cheeky boys!”

And here is my completed page!

I used a clear gesso and applied a thin coat over about the middle of the page. I just adore the Under The Tree background stamp so did some embossing on my white card stock background using Colour Blast Bling Embossing Powder
I then grabbed out some gelato’s in matching colours to the papers – I ended up using 2 blues in the background using the packaging technique – one is called Snow Cone and I’m not sure of the other!

A few splatters using Colour Blast Colour Spray in Lagoon and also some watered down red acrylic paint from my stash and then left that to dry and worked on my layers.

I have used some of the tissue paper my order came wrapped in to back the photos and chose a paper from the 6×6 paper pad to use as part of my title – the “Tis the season” part.

I knew I wanted to cut the word “silly” from the red paper in the 6×6 pad so figured I may as well make some of my own embellishments while at it 😉 I quickly doodled a star on a scrap of paper, photographed and imported into my Silhoutte studio, traced and cut and voila, personalised embellishes!

I love how this turned out!!

It was around this point I realised I had little/no room for journalling so decided to stick the title piece as a pocket – gluing only 3 sides – and cut another piece of 6×6 paper to fit as my journalling tag. I grabbed a little tab thingy from my stash and stamped using the Oh Joy clear stamp set.

I also decided I needed something to ground the layout so chose this Oh Joy “Joyful Christmas” 12×12 paper and a light blue from my stash for a border along the top and bottom.

I finished off with some of my silhoutte cut stars, an acetate die cut piece from the same range and also the house and 2 stars from the mirror acrylic shapes. FYI, those shapes are FRAGILE and also have a clear protective film on them!

My very final touch is some stamping and some splattering of the Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Spray, again in Bling.

I love how this page came together and am so happy to have this memory documented. This range was just PERFECT!!

I plan on tackling one of the challenges next, have you seen them this month?! They are awesome so make sure you play along and enter your take/s for your chance at some awesome prizes!! Also, Kylie has a give away happening at the moment as a Christmas celebration! Up until the 12th December any order over $100.00 goes into the draw to win a WRMK MINT TYPEWRITER!!! So, if you’ve been eyeing these babies off and need/want to order NOW is the time!!!

Have a fab scrappy day and see you soon!
