{ScrappingClearly} Hunter’s Feb 2016 ~ A Scrapbook Page & A Pocket Page

Howdy and happy Hump Day!

Hope your week has been kind to you so far, I know the beginnings of my weeks are always super busy. However, here in WA we had a public holiday and I spent the day at Adventure World with my family, so today only feels like Tuesday!

Today’s share is for ScrappingClearly and I have a bit of a different project for you but first, here are the photos of my 2 pages that I created using the adorable PhotoPlay Boys Rule collection pack.

Yep, that is a 12×12 page and a pocket style page. Here is a little of the back story!

I like to have something in the boys’ albums for each month to sum up what life was like for them that month. I’ve found the best way for me to achieve that is to include a few small stories in a pocket page that make up their every day (like in this spread of Hunter setting the dinner table).

Then I do 12×12 pages with the bigger kind of stories (like this month his first day at 3-year-old Kindy). Depending on the month I have 1 or 12 lol

I’m not a huge “this is a really cute photo, I’ve gotta scrap it” kind of person,
I’m more of a “this is a great story and I have this awesome photo that goes with it” kind of scrapper which works really well for me. How do you like to get your stories in your albums? Are you more of a “this is just an adorable photo” kind of scrapper? I love learning what inspires others!!

So, I made a process video for this which you can see here.

My very first step was choosing which 12×12 paper I wanted to use for my background and making sure that I included that as the title card for the pocket page spread. I tossed up between the “Seeing Stars” and the “Mr Mischief” papers from the collection pack and ultimately decided the photos popped more on the “Mr Mischief”. I now had a starting point!

I started on my pocket page and picked patterned papers that I thought would work really well then cut them to size (using some of the cut-aparts but also just chopping down some of the 12×12 papers).

I love the continuity over the pocket page and the 12×12 page.

I’ve used the Heidi Swapp Black Glitter Chipboard Letter Stickers for my title on both pages.

I’ve used quite a few of the stickers from the Boys Rule collection pack sticker sheet on both pages as well, I love all those little stars that I could sprinkle across both pages!

I worked on 3 areas of embellishment on my 12×12 page layering a few bits of paper and quite a few stickers. I’ve also popped up a couple of the stickers to give more dimension and interest to the page.

My very final steps were adding a few stickers from Heidi Swapp’s Puffy Stickers sheet, my journalling in 2 places, and some Bling splatters using my Colour Shimmer Pot by Colour Blast!

I’m super happy with how this spread came together, and even happier that I now have these photos out of the photo storage box and into Hunter’s album!

Thank you, as always, for stopping by, until next time, happy scrapping!!

{ScrappingClearly} Project Life 2017 – WK8

Hey, hey my scrappy friends!! I am back again today with my latest share for ScrappingClearly!

Once again I am using the very fun and Spring-y collection “Spring Fling” by Pebbles. I love the fun colours and patterns on that neutral kraft base in this collection and found week 8 missing all the cards and journalling in our album so figured this would be a fun collection to complete this week in our album!

Here is the left hand side of the spread

I have used some of the neutral kraft papers as my base cards (Celebration, Party Time, Patchwork and Spring Fling) and also some of the adorable 3×4 cut apart cards from the Cut Out‘s sheet.

I don’t know how well you know your PL page protectors but for the right hand side of this week I have used a panoramic protector to include a few extra photo’s and stories. Here is a look at the whole opened right hand side of the week.

And this is the the front of the folding part of the protector

For embellishing I have kept it pretty simple using a few pieces from the ephemera pack, cutting up some of the pieces from the Me To You patterned paper and the gorgeous floral puffy stickers – which by the way – I have used the WHOLE sheet!! Yep, it’s done! Who else gets that little kick from using the last of a sticker sheet?!

For my title card and a couple of sub-titles on cards I have used these leather looking alphas by WRMK.

Due to the business and high contrast of the white against the kraft I decided that using my typewriter was the best bet for my journalling so grabbed some off cuts of some vanilla coloured cardstock, typed them up my words and trimmed into journalling strips. Easy, done and I love the flow it creates from card to card and page to page!

My motto for this year’s PL is very much “get it done” rather than “make it perfect” and I am really loving how some of these pages are coming together!

I have no idea what I’ll be creating for my next ScrappingClearly project but until then, happy scrapping!!

JYC2014 for Deer & Fawn Designs

Hi there, I’m here with you today with my very last post for Deer & Fawn. I have had so much fun playing with the goodies from the store and Debbie has been awesome to “work” for. If you are thinking about applying for a Deer Designer spot you so should!! All of the details can be found here.

Today I am sharing with you some 3″ x 4″ cards that I have pulled together using almost exclusively the “Say Cheese” range by Simple Stories. I ADORE this collection and have been undecided since it was 1st released (I am not a Mickey Mouse fan!!) so was thrilled when I received it as part of my DT box of goodies.

I started by cutting up all the 6″ x 6″ papers I thought I could/would/might like to use for my “Journal Your Christmas” album for 2014. For more info on this class head on over to Shimelle.com. I haven’t got very far with it but have made a start and days 1-8 have the journalling and the cards done 🙂 And I will add here that as much as I would love to take credit for these cards, they are adapted from the class material with my own supplies and few changes here and there, they were designed by the very talented Shimelle 😉

As I said I did mostly use the “Say Cheese” range but I have also added in some Heidi Swapp Gold Colour Shine, gold sequins, the star dies, a couple of punches and 3 rolls of washi from my stash.

Here are some close ups of the cards

I started here with a plain white pieces of 3″ x 4″ cardstock from my stash. I have inked all around the edges with some walnut stain distress ink. I’ve simply punched out the scalloped circles using the 2″ x 6″ offcuts from the papers, added the cut stars, the sequins and sewn straight over the top.

Paper from the 6″ x 6″ paper pad. More punches/die cuts, some gold mist, twine and stamping.

More paper from the pad. Washi, gold mist, a label punch and some enamel dots from the store – this colour tied in perfectly with the aqua/blue in the range!!

Started with another 3″ x4″ paper from the pad I had cut down. Washi, ephemera pieces and stickers from the store and some die cuts.

And of course, more paper from the paper pad! Stickers and diecuts from the store (that hello magic was actually a speech bubble, I just snipped off the little tail 😉 ), washi and twine.

Mostly bits from my stash but that base card is another of the 6″ x 6″ papers cut down to size.

Again, paper from the pad cut down. Stickers from the store, a gold Studio Calico camera from the store and those perfect little enamel dots also from the store 🙂

This piece is a little different in that I heat embossed some clear sparkly embossing powder onto some plain white cardstock to get that glittery star in the back ground – I LOVE it!! Again, paper from the pad and stickers from the store along with some washi, die cuts and punched pieces.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my cards so far and though I am aware it is WAY past Christmas I am truly hoping to get this project finished before June!!

I have had so much fun playing with the goodies from the store!! Thank you Debbie for having me on board and for you tremendous understanding over December.

Honestly, if you are thinking about applying for a Deer spot, you should so do it!!
