{Colour Blast} Amazing Things ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hello, hello, hello and happy Saturday to you!

Today I am sharing my take on this months Colour Blast challenge, rainbows!! Here is a sneaky peek!

And here is the actual challenge!

I also have a process video that you can watch right from your browser, just click on the play button!

And off we go with the step by steps!!

I started with Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock, grey archival ink, a stamp, Snow White Colour Paste and a 12×12 stencil. The stars of course 😉

Stamping first! The stamp actually reads “Tired of trying to cram her sparkly star shaped self into into society’s beige square holes, she chose to embrace her ridiculous awesomeness and shine like the freaking supernova she was meant to be.” I did lots of messy stamping in the background and let dry.

Next I grabbed my stencil, Colour Paste and a little washi to make sure I only got what I wanted! I actually did 2 applications to make the stars a little more random at the top and bottom of the pattern so after the first application was dry I re-positioned the stencil and applied more paste.

I have done this technique similarly before but last time I used hearts and my watercolours. This time I pulled out my Colour Shimmer Cubes/Pots in all the colours of the rainbow. Let me adjust that, the colours I own in the rainbow. Add in Colour Spray in Indigo and Violet and I have the whole rainbow!! You could, of course, do this very same thing with either just the Colour Sprays or the Colour Shimmer Sprays depending on the intensity of colour and sparkle you are after.

I activated all of my colours which are from L to R:
Punch, Tangereen Dream, Sunshine, Envy and Singin The Blues.
Then activated my Snow White Colour Shimmer Pot.
I sprayed both the Indigo and Violet Colour Shimmer Sprays straight onto my work surface and mixed in some of the Snow White to give those flat colours some shimmer, swoon!!!

I grabbed a paint brush and some water and off I went. I did start in the middle with Envy and then did the warm colours letting them spread and mix a tiny bit then let that dry and finished off with the cool colours.

The colour and shimmer here is absolutely GORGEOUS!

I, of course, had to add splatters! I used the same brush and the same colours and off I went! So pretty and so me!!

I popped that aside to dry naturally and pulled all my layers and photo together and came up with my title.

Time to stick it all down! I did pull out my entire Glitter Girl collection (hello rainbows!) and tried to find all the colours in the collection and add them to their matching colour in the background.

My title is a real push for me to even use however, I am struggling a little personally and a little self love goes a very long way so I ran with it! And my journalling reflects exactly what I’ve just written!

I added a tiny touch of detail to the top right and bottom left of the page using scraps that I had experimented with colours on before I started this page and a tiny strip of washi on each.

I love how this page came together – I do love a good old rainbow – and I feel like it was just the therapy I needed right now 😉

Some of you with a super keen eye would have noticed that the step-by-steps photo’s of that rainbow coming together are different to what is on the scrapbook page – you are not going crazy! I forgot to get some step-by-steps (creativity took over!) so I re-did the paste and the rainbow and used my “demo” to make a card!!

Make sure you play along with our challenge this month – just load up your entries over in the Colour Blast Creative Corner FB group, you could win a store voucher!!

Until next time, happy scrapping and take care of YOU!!

{Colour Blast} Cherish ~ A Scrapbook (rainbow explosion) Layout

Hey, hey my scrappy friends and welcome to my blog today!! I have my first share for the year for Colour Blast and I even surprised myself with the end design lol

I played along with the January challenge for this page and I even shared this sneak in the Colour Blast Creative Corner FB group so now you get to see the whole page.

And here, again, for you is the January challenge! You will notice that I improvised and use black patterned paper instead of black card stock – I had NO black card stock!! Argh!!!

You can find my process video on my YT channel or just click play below!

First up, black gesso smeared randomly on my patterned paper where I knew I wanted to place my 2 clusters. You can see that I have switched sides with my clusters, I felt my photo worked better on the bottom-ish left so ran with that! That’s the beauty of a sketch, right?!

Next up, COLOUR!! I cannot express how much I seriously LOVE the way the Colour Shimmer products pop off a black background!! I used Deep Water, Fire Engine and Sunshine Colour Shimmer Sprays sprayed directly onto the background over the gesso. I started with the Sunshine, then the Fire Engine, then the Deep Water.

My Deep Water gave me a little trouble – it left not only a fine mist but also bigger splatters – which, really, when you think about it, is perfect!! So to add to that look I grabbed my fave brush – it’s a round #20, dunked it into the spray bottles of the Sunshine and the Fire Engine and splattered away to my hearts content!

I left my background to dry overnight and came back the next day and started working on my paper layers. I used mostly scraps, grabbed some Charms Creations DIY embellishments and some flair.

Happy with the general placement I added colour to my DIY embellies using Singin’ The Blues Colour Shimmer Pot. If you don’t have the pot you can, of course, use a brush and Colour Shimmer Spray for a similar effect.

I love the way these turned out!! The beautiful blue colour and all the gorgeous shimmer, oh la la!! Here are the 3 pieces all coloured up, swoon!!

While hunting through my box of chippy I came across my title piece – this “cherish” word that I had previously embossed (you can see lots of embossing fun including my title on this post!) using Tangereen Dream Colour Embossing Powder and LOVED the pop that this colour brought to the page so decided I needed to add a couple more small pops of the Tangereen Dream so embossed 3 veneer hearts with 2 coats each.

Time to assemble all the bits and hence, now it is a rainbow explosion lol

A few close ups

It’s so hard to capture just how pretty and shimmery those fabric embellies are but seriously, swoon!

I hope you have enjoyed my post today and we would love to see your takes on this fun challenge this month. Just head over to the FB group and pop your take into the album for a voucher to buy more Colour Blast goodies, and let’s face it, who doesn’t love more free goodies?!

Have a fantastic (messy) scrappy day and see you again later in the month!

{Colour Blast DT} No Rain, No Rainbows Scrapbook LO

Hello there scrappy friends!!

I’m here with you today sharing this page I made  for Colour Blast Australia with some of the gorgeous Colour Shimmer Sprays and Colour Sprays using a cut file from Just Nick Studio’s!!

Here is the page I created and oh boy, I had so much fun playing with this! I do have a process video that you can watch here and you can also read on for a bit of a step by step!

First up I cut this title and the clouds on my cameo and while it was still on the mat I coated in gesso as I knew I was going to water colour it and the gesso gave it a little barrier of protection 🙂

After that was dried out I picked out my rainbow colours.

Left to Right:
Love Colour Spray, Tangereen Dream Colour Shimmer Spray, Saffron Colour Spray, Envy Colour Shimmer Spray, Sapphire Colour Spray and Violet Colour Spray. As you can see I have a pot of water and a paint brush so I just started applying the colours in rainbow order making sure that where 2 colours joined up there was an overlap and room for them to blend a little.

This is such a fun way to use the sprays and I love how it dried off!!

After it was all dried I decided I wanted the whole lot to sparkle so I pulled out my Snow White Colour Shimmer Spray and applied a quick coat by spraying over the whole file and leaving to air dry. The sparkle is SO pretty!

I forgot to take photo’s but I used the same technique on the clouds – both the ones attached to the rainbow and the loose ones – this time using a combo of the Steel Colour Shimmer Spray and the Snow White Colour Shimmer spray. Because, storm clouds are grey, and when the rain stops and the rainbow starts to shine they start to lighten up 😉

I left that to dry off and started work on my back ground which is a piece of white card stock. My first attempt was done using white gesso but I decided after I started that I didn’t want that off-white colour across my whole page so switched it out for another piece that I used clear gesso on!

These progress shots are taken on the white gesso and the final page is the clear gesso.

As you can see in the photos further down I mapped out where I wanted the title, the clouds and the photo using a pencil and then got to work on the colours!

I knew I wanted to do the blue using the packaging technique and the Sapphire Colour Spray mixed with a bit of the Snow White Colour Shimmer Spray for some sparkle.

This technique is super quick and easy and so effective for a water colour-y back ground! I used the nozzle to apply a couple of drops of the sapphire to the plastic and then the nozzle from the snow white and mooshed it together like this:

And then, literally, I flipped the packaging over so the colour was face down and smooshed the plastic onto the cardstock until I was happy with the colours/effects I got.

And then dried that off quickly with my heat tool and was left with this. I love it!

I then decided in continuing the whole “no rain no rainbows” theme to add in some grey/silver using a paint brush and some Steel Colour Shimmer Spray.

And as a final touch for the colour I added splatters using the same paint brush in both the Sapphire Colour Spray and the Steel Colour Shimmer Spray.

It was at this point I decided to switch out my background as I decided I didn’t want to add any colour behind where my photo was going to be so I have this background awaiting a different use 😉

From here I attached my title using some foam adhesive, my painted clouds, my photo, a flair from my stash and the very important (to me) journalling. I also added some stitching around the whole page after I mounted it onto a rainbow diagonally striped paper and also around the tiny layer of paper behind my photo. A mega giant roller stamp with the whole alphabet and numbers spelling out Winter 2016 in a few places and the page was done!!

Love how this came together and love that I got this story told. If you can’t read the journalling here it is:

“Like Winter, life is filled with storms and I am always reminded that with no rain, no rainbows.
Every year I get excited when I see the my 1st rainbow and nearly, without fail, every time, I am reminded of just how beautiful life is. Rainbows are one of my favourite things about Winter as they always come AFTER a storm and are a promise of things to come.”

And here is another shot of the final page and a couple of close up’s.

Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to stop by and check out my page. I had so much fun playing with the different sprays as water colours and also that oh so easy packaging technique. If you haven’t given it a try yet, you so should! And if you have been playing with your Colour Blast goodies we would love to see your creations over in our Facebook group Colour Blast Creative Corner!

Have a fantastic, scrappy day!

Love You To Bits Scrapbook page

Hi there! 2 posts in 1 day – I can hardly believe it!!

The other day on my Instagram account (m_sweetman) I shared a peek at something I was working on – well, really, I was just playing! I was inspired by a picture I found while googling rainbows 🙂

This picture in fact! I thought it would be fun to have a play and do my own rainbow. I love pink and blue but really am not a purple fan so I split my rainbow where the blue and pink would meet and came up with this!

As you can see I also added some fun texture using the gorgeous Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel and LOVE LOVE LOVE how it turned out!

I have sat on the background for a couple of days not really sure what I was going to do with it and ended up putting this page together

I recorded my whole process for this page and you can see me go from one idea to this. I love that so much of that background is showing, it’s so pretty and that gel gives such an awesome effect through that stencil!

Here are a few close ups

And if your interested in seeing my process you can go here https://youtu.be/tb6YZDttj8o and watch it! Please do bear in mind it is only my 2nd attempt at a process video so be kind!! haha!!

Anyways, that’s it for me for today! I hope you enjoyed my post and my video!
Happy scrapping!
