Some exciting news!!

Hello, hello and welcome to my blog today! If you follow me on another social media platform you would have seen my very exciting news already and if you haven’t, well, that’s why I’m here!

I have joined the amazingly talented Design Team for Anna’s Craft Cupboard!! This little store has been on my scrappy bucket list for a little while and not just because Bri always has great stock but Bri is amazing! Everything you could wish for in scrappy store owner! So, I have been creating this month with the very fun Photoplay Paper Color Play “You’re a Gem” collection and I just popped in super quick to share all the links as well as my news!

Just quietly, I may have squealed a little when I was offered the spot and then again when I got my DT banner – I showed Hunter and was super enthusiastic and he was like “Yeah, ok Mum, whatever….” lol At 5 years old, I’m in trouble!

Anyways, here is what I’m certain you are here for!

First up I created this 12×12 page of my big boy!

You can see the full blog post (including close ups and product links) here and I have also shared a process video which I will link below!

Second up was this fun 12×12 page of my little family.

Again, full blog post is here and my process video will be below!

And lastly, I created 4 mixed media tags which were so FUN!

Full blog post here and video below!

I do have more of this collection left over so I may even sneak in another project or 2, depending on “free” time lol

Anyways, as always, thank you ever so much for stopping by and sharing in my excitement!

Have a fantastic day!

CUT to YOU | My Fave Childhood Character

Hey, hey everyone and welcome to my blog again today!!

Another share for CUT to YOU and today I am sharing a rainbow of flowers lol

So, did everyone see the gorgeous new releases this month?? I am lucky enough to have received a whole bunch of them and I just couldn’t decide so I first asked in the CUT to YOU HQ group (you guys were too slow!!) and then I asked hubby and he picked this Loop Flower for me to work with. And then I got an answer on the HQ group – floral so it was decided for me!!
I stretched the cut file to fill my whole background and cut it on white cardstock – I had an idea in my head and using white meant I could PLAY with ALL the colours!! Oh, and if you buy the custom cut Gwen will cut it to fill your background too 😉

I grabbed another sheet of white cardstock (my intention was to use the not cut piece thus my reason for picking another sheet rather than leaving my cut on my mat and adding colour to the top) and got to work.

I knew I wanted to play with my Distress Oxide inks so picked out a rainbow of colours (sorry, no purple, I don’t own a purple!! #sorrynotsorry) and started blending my colours, one at a time, using an ink blending tool. I started in the middle with a yellow (easier to find the centre of the page and not add too much of any particular colour) and then did the warm colours and then went back in with the cool colours. I used some washi tape to hold the cut file (now stencil) down for some of the blending but by the end I was just holding it in place and being careful as I added colour.

The colours I used (in ROYGBIV except IV order and add in pink lol)
Picked Raspberry|Candied Apple|Spiced Marmalade|Squeezed Lemonade|Cracked Pistachio|Peacock Feathers|Mermaid Lagoon

Time for the magic to be revealed!! I lifted off the cut file/stencil and though the whole 12×12 looks great I fell in love with the cut file and it was at this point I changed how I was going to do my background! I do still have my rainbow of stencilled flowers in my stash so I’m certain it will get used!

I added some water splatters to both pieces to get that gorgeous oxide effect happening and used some paper towel to soak it up after it had sat for a few seconds.

From here my page came together super easy – I had a whole rainbow of colours to work with so matching colours wasn’t a huge problem but rather than add more colour I chose some gold accents by firstly backing my photo with some gold foiled vellum and a doily. And then of course I needed some gold in my background so I splattered some gold colour shine all over my white background.

I pulled out another “vintage” gold star from Charms Creations and added that to my photo cluster. I created a tag, did some gold machine stitching through the centre of the flowers (side note – IF you want to stitch through this cut file it is WAY easier to sew when it is adhered to your background!!), grabbed some alphas and voila, one completed page.

This is a super fun page and I so love creating with a rainbow! I recently went to a class at a local scrapbooking store where I learnt some new Distress Ink techniques which lead me to give this a go!! Thanks Suzanne!

I do have a process video if you interested in seeing this come together, I do hope you enjoy!

Until next time, happy scrapping

{Colour Blast DT} You Are My Sunshine ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Hello and happy Saturday Colour Blast fans! Today I am here sharing my take on the December 2017 challenge! Yep, I said December!! Can you believe it is already that time of year?!

Here is a little sneak peek of my “metal pieces”

And here again is this months challenge.

This really did challenge me as I don’t really have metal embellishments. I had to think outside of the box and I came up with making my own using some awesome dies and some metal sheets I have in my stash! The dies I have used are made by another Aussie company – Uniquely Creative Kit Club and are VERY awesome!

Here is my completed page. You can see my whole process in the link below or pop on over to the Colour Blast YT channel!

And here are my step-by-steps

For this page I have used a piece of the Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock for my base as it means I don’t need to use gesso and I really prefer the way the packaging technique dries off on paper. I grabbed my Sunshine Colour Shimmer Pot, activated with water and simply added some colour and extra water to my packaging and got to smooshing. Yep, that’s the technical term 😉 You could also use the Colour Shimmer Sprays if you don’t have the Shimmer Pots!

Just a side note too, if you own some of these little pots of awesomeness – make sure they are completely dry before you pop the lid back on. I actually store mine without lids at all and only use the lids when travelling but as soon as I get  home, the lids are removed again!

While I had my Shimmer Pot out I decided to colour my die cut title. I used a paintbrush and just painted to bottom of the word with the colour and then used a clean, wet paintbrush to blend the colour out a little.

Next for some texture. I grabbed a mini layering stencil and my Sunshine Colour Paste and randomly added some paste where I knew I was going to be working. I also added some to the “sunshine” title piece where the colour was already applied.

While that dried I stamped out the rest of my title “you are my” and coloured that a tiny paintbrush and again, my Sunshine Colour Shimmer Pot.

I next added some stamping using a grey archival ink and a couple of different texture stamps and love the extra dimension this gives to my layers.

When my paste was dry, time for some splatters. I have once again used my Sunshine Colour Shimmer Pot but I have added in the Saffron Colour Spray for a deeper yellow. I also activated my Stormy Weather Colour Shimmer Cube and added splatters of that, with a paintbrush also.

When I put all my bits and pieces together I decided I needed a little more texture and another pop of colour so decided to pull out some chipboard. I grabbed these filmstrip pieces and embossed them with my Story Weather Colour Embossing Powder.

Time to put all the bits together. A couple of layers behind my photo using some paper scraps in yellows and greys and also a glassine bag where I can pop in a tag and add some extra journalling. I used my Saffron Colour Spray to colour the
re-enforcer for the tag.

I really love this colour combo – yellow and grey – and love the fun whimsy those die cuts bring to the page, especially using metal which is not something I would have done without the prompt of this challenge!

If this is a little outside of your norm, give it a go! Think outside of the box, make your own metal embellishment. You can colour them with gesso and then add ANYTHING from the Colour Blast range. Or leave them the white or black from the gesso. You can dry emboss if you have the same metal sheets I do. You can leave them plain because they fit your page PERFECTLY just the way they are!

Have a bit of fun and play along, making sure you load up your take on the challenge over here in the FB Group – Colour Blast Creative Corner!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{ScrappingClearly} Wander and Take It In ~ A Scrapbook page

Hello scrappy friends!! I’m here with you today sharing my latest DT make for ScrappingClearly!

For today’s post I was really inspired by this months sketch challenge, once again created by the very talented Peg! If you have yet to see it here it is

And here is my creation

I have used the very fun Citrus Bliss collection available ON SALE in store now and I will provide links at the end of my post!

I really stuck to the sketch as much as possible for this one – I really loved all those layers behind and next to the photo’s.

It took me a while to find the “right” photos for this page but after a bit of digging I found these 2 from our Honeymoon back in 2008 – a good size and the “right” orientation for the sketch!

I was busting to get these Thickers out and used so after some struggle getting the wording correct for the story I wanted to tell I got the Wander and the Take It In phrase on the page!

Paired, of course with some gorgeous Colour Blast Sienna in both the Colour Paste and Colour Shimmer Spray.

If you would like to see my whole process just click on the play button below and you can watch my process video – and make sure you hit the subscribe button so you never miss any shares on the channel!

I hope I have given you some last minute inspiration to play along with the sketch this month, make sure if you do you add it to the correct album over on the ScrappingClearly FB group to be in the draw to win a voucher to the ScrappingClearly store!!

That’s it for me for today, thanks so much for stopping by!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{Project Life} Week 4 2017 Insert

Hey scrappy friends! Just popped in quickly to share an insert I have made for our week 4 of 2017. I am using a random assortment of PL cards from my stash mixed with some random embellishments – lots from D-lish Scraps 🙂

This is a double sided insert of all 3×4 portrait pockets as there were 2 events that I wanted to document that both had a few photos/stories I wanted to include.

I’m going to do this a little backwards as I created the back spread first and that is the order in which the YT process video is.

First up I worked on the back of the spread which is from my neice’s 18th Birthday in January.

I think my fave card of this spread is the shaker 18 card! I had lots of fun playing with watercolours and sequins making it!

It’s just so pretty ❤

And onto the front side of the page which is all about our Australia Day 2017.

Again, using random cards and some embellies from my stash.

And a couple of close ups

This is the bottom shaker pocket which can be seen from both sides and I love how it co-ordinates with both sides ❤

So, a super qucik share for you today and if you would like to see my whole process there is a process video which is available, just click play!

Thanks so much for stopping by, as always, I really appreciate it and love getting any feedback!

Happy scrapping and until next time have fun!

{ScrappingClearly} The Best Things ~ April Mood Board Challenge

Hi scrappy friends, Melinda here with you today sharing my take on the fun April sketch challenge, once again designed by the very talented Peg!

Here it is if you haven’t seen it yet

And here is my take on it

And you can watch my process on the link below – just press the play button!

I have used the Kaiser Craft Ooh La La collection pack for this and mostly just the Oui Oiu floral paper (I fussy cut the florals from it) and the Belle paper.

I have a little of the packaging technique in the background with the Avocado Art Anthology spray and applied a few splatters in Navy Colour Shimmer Dust.

The finishing touches were a few of my left over triangles from my last project – as photo corners and also as corners on the top left and bottom right of the page.

So, make sure you get your entries in for this months challenges, you still have most of the month to get them done! Head over here to the FB group to upload your entries. We love to see the way you guys interpret the challenges!!

Thanks, as always for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!
