Yep, that is back to school 2020! I tend to scrap as I feel inspired rather than chronologically. I have used the Back To School cut file released earlier this year which I really, really love and have had cut for ages!

STB March 2019 Challenge | My Love For You

Hey everyone!! A new month and another new challenge for Scrap The Boys!

This month we have a beautiful inspiration board to play along with and I was inspired by both the quote and the colours (one of my all time fave colour combos – navy and light pink) and decided to go big with my title.

This month our sponsor is Cocoa Vanilla Studios and though I have a substantial CVS stash I didn’t have just the “right” colours to use for my background or cut file so pulled from my stash.

The cut file I used is from the Silhouette Studio Store and the file number isย 111217. I have cut it on an older Dear Lizzy paper and made it fairly big. I also used the same paper to back the right hand side and the bottom of my card stock background.

I added some splatters on my background, behind where my cut file would be, using some of my Shimmerz Paints products.

A couple of layers of scrap papers from my stash behind my photo of my boys and also some tissue paper.

I pulled out my stash of CVS Midnight embellishments and layered those around the page and under/around my photo.

My final step was some enamel dots from CVS also sprinkled around where my photo and embellishments were.

Something different for me, no journalling!! I felt that the title said all that I wanted to say. I may go back in and add the details of the where we were and the why they were dressed up but I do have other photos of this same event (wedding) which I will scrap and tell those details.

A pretty simple page but I really, really love the way this came together! I feel like I can create any page with these colours and I will love it lol

I do have a process video for this and will link it up as soon as it’s edited and uploaded. I am currently away on scrap retreat for the long weekend (here in WA) and won’t be able to finish off my video until probably Tuesday.

I hope that you find some inspiration from myself and the other DT members over on the STB blog here and do remember to link up to the blog post!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll be back again with another page to share with you all!

K+ February 2019 | We’re All Potterheads | A Scrapbook Layout

Hey everyone and welcome to my blog today! I cannot believe that we are almost in the middle of February already! If the beginning of the year is any indication this year will be over in no time!

Ok, so onto my share! This one is for the K+ February 2019 challenge and I had lots of fun creating this page! Book inspiration!!

Straight away I knew I wanted to document the love my little family has the Harry Potter series of books and movies so my page came together pretty quickly after I staged my photo ๐Ÿ˜‰

As you can see I have used book paper in my design as well a photo of books.

I have torn pages from an old book and used them to not only layer in my background but to create my title as well!

My title is using a font called Harry P which I found at dafont.com and cut twice on my cameo. Once on plain black cardstock (if you know the trick to getting a perfect cut on black PLEASE share!!) and also on my own patterned paper I created. You can see the full process of how I made my paper in my process video below but here are the few easy steps:

1. Use a scrap piece of cardstock and cover in your wet adhesive of choice – I used matte gel
2. Stick torn pieces of old book paper randomly onto the scrap of card applying the adhesive over the top as well if you want it to seal.
3. From here when it is completely dry you can add anything you like! I have used gelatos and a lot of water. Then I cut on my cameo.
Easy, right?!

Onto my background. I was watching Jess from Scrappy Sisters on YT and she created a full galaxy background on a page she shared which got me to thinking that a galaxy background would a) contrast perfectly with the red and gold in my title and b) I could finally have a play with a galaxy design cause I haven’t been feeling the love for art journalling lately. So I got to work spritzing colour and water onto my background of kraft paper which I had already applied some book paper and white gesso to.

I love how it turned it out in the end.

I kept the embellishing pretty simple using a chippy piece embossed with gold embossing powder and some stars I had cut from the paper I created with a metal die. Oh, and lots of journalling!

I really, really loved this challenge and had so much fun creating it! I hope I have inspired you to play along as well this month! Head over here for all of the A-MAZING creations by the DT and to load up your entry! Good luck and happy scrapping!

Scrap The Boys February 2019 | My Happy Place | A Scrapbook Layout

Hello everyone and hello February!! Yikes! Anyone else like me counting down the few days left of the school holidays?! Monday can’t get here fast enough but it is the end of a long day today and tomorrow is a new day (and month ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Today I have my February share for Scrap The Boys and just as a side note, this is my 13th share for STB! I have officially been a part of the team for 12 months this month โค Here is the mood board

And we are again being sponsored by CUT to YOU designs.ย

I was inspired by the blues and the general feeling of calmness and serenity I got when I looked at the mood and picked the “My Happy Place” cut file by Gwen. It is not quiet available as this goes live but it will be at 6pm Queensland time as it is part of the awesome February release! I had fun backing this file and handstitching the script word in the middle!

I have used lots of Cocoa Vanilla Studio goodies and Shimmerz goodies for this page and I really love the end result!

Splatters but not a lot of mess! I’ve used all Shimmerz products for my splatters and they are Shimmerz – Anchors Away and Colder Than Ice, Creameez – Ride The Tide and Inklingz – Oakie Bear Blue (this is one of my all time fave colours in fact!!).

Lots of different patterned papers behind my cut file and photo that came from the More Than Words 6×6 paper pad by CVS.

And, as you can see, florals!! All the beautiful florals from the same collection, swoon!

You can see the entire STB team takes on the challenge over here and also load up your take on the challenge for this month.
I have a process video for you today as well, the voice over is a bit dodgy, I’m tired! It’s the end of the school holidays and I’m a bit worn out lol You can always mute me!! Either way, I hope you enjoy my process and I can’t wait to see what you create this month!

Until my next share, happy scrapping!

Melinda
