{ScrappingClearly} Tis The Season ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey, hey ScrappingClearly friends, Melinda here with you today with something a little different for you!!

Here is a sneaky peek

Any guesses as to what I’ve created?! Or been inspired by??

If you guessed this month’s mood board you would be 100% correct! I was REALLY inspired by all of the Halloween-y type imagery and the colours, though I couldn’t find a way to include the blue.

Here again if you haven’t seen it is the mood board

And my completed project!

This is in a shadow box type product that hubby threw together with some spare MDF and because he made a stack I grabbed one super quick and got to creating! The frame was sprayed with some matt black spray paint and left to dry while I created my page!

I have used 3 patterned papers for this – My Mind’s Eye – On Trend 2 – Little Things (the orange words) and 2 papers from the Pebbles – Spring Fling collection – Honey Bee (the black text) and Chalkboard Floral (my background sheet). I used a cut file from the Silhouette Store that I fell in love with the second I saw it and knew what I wanted to do with it so picked my papers and got my cameo working for me!

I knew I wanted some colour in the background and in order for my cut to POP I first applied a really quick, light layer of white gesso to fade those dots into the background some. Then I grabbed my Scribble Sticks in Tangerine and Ruby, some plastic packaging and got to smooshing some colour onto my background and also applying some splatters with the same mix of colour.

When that was all dry I added some splatters using my Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Spray in Bling knowing I was going to add more gold accents. While that dried I used my Black Soot Distress Ink to ink the edges of the “Tis The Season” words so they would pop a little more. And added some gold foil using my Mini Minc machine to some of the Minc Crate Paper Halloween ephemera pieces I wanted to use. I LOVE the pops of shiny gold and love the gold, orange and black & white mix of colours!

Once my background was completely dried all that was left was to glue everything down. Since I have used gesso on the background I did use my wet glue for everything to make sure it all stayed where I put it!

One final close up

How I love stars and how that they look any better than minc’d in gold foil?!?? Of course, there are a tonne of colours to choose from in the store if gold is not your thing!

Here is one final photo – this time the frame is stood up and I can’t wait to find a home for it in the lead up to Halloween this year! My boys are super exited!

{ScrappingClearly} Goggles and Hunter

Hi there fellow ScrappingClearly fans, I’m here with you (again!!!!) today and I am super excited to share my take on this month’s super fun and bright mood board designed by the very talented Peg from the design team!

Here is a little refresher:

Ah!!! I seriously love it! I do have to admit, I was a little unsure to start with. That is until I started flipping through my printed photos and this one of my baby just jumped out at me as perfect for this board! And paired with my favourite collection, of all time, ever!! Starshine by Shimelle Laine 😀

Here is my take:

And here is my process video for this LO

I really, really, really love how this turned out!! I cut the title on my cameo and then backed each letter with some offcuts from the 6×6 paper pad. Oh, after I did some playing with gelato’s and water and some Colour Paste!

A couple of little layers behind the photo – more scraps, a piece from the ephemera pack and a clear sticker. And then, a fun, rainbow border around the left and top – again, more scraps! If you watched my last process video you would have seen me “screw up” the other side of this paper (it has all the little stars on it – one of my fave papers, ever!!), so I stuck down the 2 sides I had applied gesso too, attached to my white cardstock and saved the left overs from behind the white cardstock 😉

Last up I added in some black splatters, my journalling, some stitching around 2 sides, a little stamping and a sharpie pen to outline each letter in the title!

You still have 2 whole weeks to enter the challenges this month so make sure you head over to the FB group here to load up your entries to go into the draw for a voucher to the store!

Also, did you see that ScrappingClearly have just launched some awesome online classes with members of the DT teaching?! There are still a few days left to sign up to the 1st class with Skai so if your interested you can find all the info here.

Thanks as always for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!

This is Family {August Sketch Challenge Scrappingclearly}

Hi there and welcome to my blog today!

I am here sharing with you my take on the August 2016 Scrappingclearly sketch challenge which I had so much fun with!! Remember, Kylie has some AWESOME prizes up for grabs so you have until the end of the month to link your entries or share over in the FB group here.

Now, onto the good stuff!

First up, the sketch!

How fun is it? I really love working with sketches and the longer I scrap the more confident I become with using them and making them more my own 🙂

And here is my take

I have used some papers from the awesome Heidi Swapp September Skies range as my background and decided to start the page doing a cut in the background of a scattering of stars rather than the circles in the sketch and LOVE how this turned out!

Before I added any of my layers I decided that it needed some fun mixed media mess in the background (I had originally thought I would not use any!!) so started with a thin coat of clear gesso and then grabbed out my jar of fabulous Colour Blast Mica Powder in watermelon, added some water and used my water brush to add some colour around the stars. I ended up going back over some areas with a 2nd coat to deepen the colour up and am really happy with how it came out!

I added a couple of paper layers behind my photo. And went to follow the sketch more closely but realised that with extra paper layers I would cover up all of those stars and mixed media so stuck to just a couple of simple layers. As the sketch called for an embellishment cluster on the bottom left of the photo I grabbed some of the gorgeous florals from the ephemera pack and layered those up. In my DT kit Kylie also sent me this awesome pack of banners from the September Skies range which worked perfectly with the sketch!

I added a few embellishments and that awesome wood veneer word to the right hand side and used the Made Of Awesome alphas that Kylie also sent me for my title.

Here are a few close ups

Also I have a process video here for this layout if you would like to see how this page came together!

Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure you head over to the Scrappingclearly blog or FB page and upload your own entry to the sketch challenge album to win some awesome prizes!!

Happy Scrapping!

November with Dusty Attic

Yikes!! November already!! My how this year is flying past!

Melinda here with you today sharing some pages from Hunter’s 2015 album, February to be exact!

I had so much fun with all the chippy pieces and paint!

I started with painting all of my chippy with Dusty In Colour Soot and then applied a coat of Clear Gloss Varnish and popped aside to dry while I got on with my background.

I have used almost entirely Australian manufactured and designed products on this layout as those papers and embellishments are from Cocoa Vanilla’s Made of Awesome range. I started with an exclusive cut file from The Cut Shoppe Let’s Cut Class 1 which I cut using my silhoutte and then mixed up a concoction of 4 Dusty In Colour paints to to match perfectly with the blue of that paper frame in the layers. The colours I used are Navajo White, Oceania, Faded Denim and Denim. I just plopped some colour onto a palette and mixed away until I got just the right colour! So much fun!

I then added some of the paint to some plastic packaging and some water and basically stamped/smooshed the packaging until I got the effect I was after. I love how this turned out! After that was dry I backed all the arrows that I had cut with some scraps of paper from the same range of papers.

I have used Chevrons Small – both the inside cut and the “left over” bits. And the title is from Mini Captions #6.

Here is one part of the “left overs” from Chevrons Small

And another.

I have used 3 page pebbles here too which I did paint VERY lightly so you can still see the etched details.

I have used one of the pebbles from this pack here.

This pack here.

And this pack here. I think this is one of my all time fave’s too – I have been hoarding that too!!

While I was putting this layout together I discovered just how awesome the clear gloss varnish is too!! Obviously it leaves a beautiful layer of clear gloss but while it was out and I was playing it was the 1st glue I grabbed a few times and it really is awesome for that too!! When it sticks it’s stuck but you have a little moving time!!

Onto the facing page which is, of course, a PL style page 🙂

Again, all my chippy has been treated the same way and papers and stickers are from the same range.

Here is the title card that I had so much fun putting together – am loving getting inky and making a mess on my craft mat!!

Some more of the Chevrons Small and also the Typewriter ABC font.

And some close ups of all the titles on the photographs!

And that is it for me for today!! I hope you have enjoyed seeing my pages for this month and see you next month!!
