Mum’s Day 2016

Hi hi and welcome!

I have popped in today to share a layout I put together a little while ago using some of my left over stash of the gorgeous “Life in Colour” range by Simple Stories that I got from Scrappingclearly. I paired it with a super fun free cut file from Hip Kit Club and this was the end result!

I have used the Heidi Swapp colour shine in blush and butter for the very technical plastic packaging technique I used in the background and love how it all came together!

Just adore this flair and HAD to put it on my page! It’s from the MME On Trend 2 collection.

I added in some silver stitching as you can see in the close up’s above and also some black stamping, some clear stickers, some of the washi strips and a few paper scraps.

And just a couple more close up’s of the main part of the page!

Thanks so much for stopping by and if you love the Simple Stories range as much as I do head over to the Scrappingclearly store here, Kylie still has some stock left!!

Happy scrapping!

"The Dress" for Scrappingclearly May Sketch

Hi there and welcome! Today I am sharing another page I put together using the gorgeous Simple Stories Life In Color range this time for May’s fun sketch challenge!

Here is a little refresher of the sketch and you have until the end of the month to get your page linked up!

This page is, again, different for me but I am really happy with how it turned out and all of that white space!

I started this page off with this awesome glitter bead paste from my stash – Kylie has a similar one in store here but if anyone is keen on the actual one I used (it has glitter in it!) Kylie has said she can look at stocking it!!

While that was air drying I started to pick my embellishments. Today I chose to pull out the pinks and yellows from the collection and go with those as I had already decided to go with a white card stock base! And a doily from my stash.

I have used pieces from the sticker package, the chipboard stickers, some of the pieces from the bits and pieces pack, some of the stickers from the sticker sheet in the collection pack and also some of the clear stickers (with the silver and black). I used a few scraps (I am running very low on this range now!!) to back my photo with some of the yellow and pink behind the doily.

I’m not sure why that “TUES” sticker has photographed pink, it is actually silver (you can see it better in the previous and next photo’s)!

A different angle of the same cluster so you can get a better look at that beaded gel paste!

And a photo of the top cluster on the right 🙂 I have layered one of the pink washi strips (which I cut into a fish tail), the beaded glitter paste and then some stickers, bits and pieces and a chipboard flower.

Finally, onto the title which I used a combination of the tile alphas from the collection pack and these thickers by Dear Lizzy, they are just gorgeous!! I finished it off with another of those clear stickers with black hearts.

So, that’s it for this post! Make sure you link up your take on this fun sketch here or here on the Facebook page by the end of the month for your chance to win!

Happy scrapping!!

A couple of cards!

Hello there! I’m here today sharing a couple of cards I put together using the ever so fun Simple Stories “Life In Color” range (again!) for Scrapping Clearly. I have said it every post but I really, really love this collection and sadly, it is running low but I plan to use every single piece!

When I first opened my box of goodies I was hit with the idea of PL pages and cards! It took me a little while to be comfortable to use up some of those papers on cards (we all have that same hesitant feeling when it comes to cutting into a brand new 12×12 sheet, yeah?!) but I did it and am super happy with the results!

Card #1

For this card I decided to go a bit feminine! I love, love, love that pink paper I have used on the card base and those butterflies are just adorable! The pink paper is from the collection pack and the butterflies are from the bits and pieces pack. That flair (isn’t it just gorgeous!) is from the MME On Trend 2 collection.

I did do a little mixed media in the background, it was looking very plain! I added a light coat of gesso and then used some gelatos and the very technical packaging technique. Once that was all dried I went back in with some Heidi Swapp colour shine in butter (love this colour!) and then adhered all my pieces. I thought the card needed just a tiny bit of something else and pulled out the sequins from Cocoa Vanilla Studio in the “Made of Awesome” range – that blue matched perfectly!

And here is a little close up 🙂

For my sentiment I just went with one of those gorgeous clear stickers and kept it pretty versatile 🙂

Card #2 – and just secretly, this is my fave 😉

I love how this card came out! I started with the pieces from the bits and pieces pack – so the tags, the globe and that hello. I thought it needed something more so pulled out the 12×12 sheet that has all the polaroid designs printed on it and cut that out to add to my layers and also added a plain old paper clip where there was one printed. I used my craft knife to cut around the edge of the heart and do some tucking of the layers.

I found my piece for the background (that gorgeous yellow and white stripe), layered my cluster on top and thought “it needs something!” So, out came the washi strips, the clear stickers and the sentiment strip stickers (from the 12×12 sticker sheet in the collection pack). And, of course the stapler!

Once I had my washi down, I again decided it needed a little more so pulled out the trusty gesso, a red gelato and some water. I also knew I wanted to add a few more small pops of silver so out came the silver thread in the sewing machine!

One final touch! Since they were on my desk already, I first reached for the sequins and that yellow was PERFECT! I scattered a few and called it done!

Here are a couple of close ups!

Again, I am totally loving this collection and thinking I need to make some more cards with the bits and pieces I have left!

I hope this has inspired you to maybe use your traditional supplies in a little bit of a different way!

Happy scrapping!

PL Week 3 2016

Hi hi, I’m here today sharing my next project with you using the awesome Simple Stories “Life In Color” range!

So, I have jumped ahead in our PL album/s, I really wanted to do something current so I pulled out our week 3 for 2016 and got to work.

My process always starts in a notebook deciding which photo’s to print and which stories I wish to tell. I then print my photo’s at Big W while I do my food shopping. Photo’s into pockets, cards with photos in pockets and then I get to play putting it all together!

I have lots of photo’s to share today so I grab a coffee and take 5 😉

First up, the double page spread using an K design on the left and an E design on the right.

I love this range and how it came together so easily for me!

Onto the left hand side

And some of the cards

A close up of the title card for the week. That chipboard clip is actually silver but, oh boy, silver is eve harder than gold to photograph!

I really love how this card turned out so I wanted to share a close up! I have used one of the 12×12 cut apart sheets that had the 4×4 cards pre-printed. I cut along one of the printed lines and tucked my photograph underneath. I added one of the clear coloured stickers to the printed label, did my journalling and added the date 🙂

And I just wanted for you to be able to see these cool clear coloured stickers again – love how they look on top of a photo – especially those paint brush strokes one!

And onto the right hand side 🙂

This card is actually in a flip pocket – I often use them to add an extra photo or story, so easy!

And the back side of the flip with a little embellishment and a fun collage from my oldest son’s birthday 🙂

This week also includes a 5×7 insert – it’s pretty simple but a story documented and some words written to my son 🙂

The front of the pocket – I printed the photo at 5×7 with a border and trimmed off alot of the border and then mounted it on one side of the patterned paper I wanted to use.

And the back of the pocket. I just ADORE this paper and did toss up using it behind the photo but decided I would see more of it if I used it this way 🙂 Typed up my journalling, cut it up into strips and stuck it down with some wet adhesive.

And YAY, extra space that I could do a little embellishing in! Some stickers from both the sticker sheets and the clear sticker sheets. Also a couple of strips of washi from the washi strip pack.

That’s it for me for today! I have another PL spread to share soon so until next time happy scrapping!!

2015 Documented – Scrapping Clearly

Hi there! Today I’m sharing another lay out I made using the awesome Simple Stories “Life in Color” range.

I have had so much fun with all these gorgeous goodies and had a lot of fun putting together our closing page for our 2015 PL album!

I will add here that I am still playing catch up on this album, hehehe, but was so inspired when I got my package I just HAD to dive in!!

There were alot of cut apart pieces in the Collection Kit that I knew as soon as I saw them I wanted to cut apart and use as they were so I pulled out my 3 faves and went ahead and started decorating!

I have used one of the cut apart cards here along with the alpha’s from the sticker sheet in the same kit and some of the other stickers from both the clear sticker pack and the regular sticker pack (both of which have got so many delish goodies I had a hard time trying to decide on the pieces to use!!). I also added some stitching in silver – there are pops of silver throughout this whole collection and let me just say, I am so NOT over gold but silver sure has found a place in my scrappy heart!!

Again, a cut apart sheet paired with stickers and also this card has some chipboard stickers on it as well 🙂

Oh, and you probably noticed, I added some white and silver glitter enamel shapes from my stash!

When I saw this part of one of the cut apart border sheets I may have had to wipe away the drool. I don’t know what it is about it but I just ADORE it and KNEW that I would have a hard time not using it as it is! So, I needed to fill the middle pockets of my page and voila – perfect size and the sentiment couldn’t have been better!! This time just one sticker and those enamel shapes.

And just a close up of the 2 left hand pockets of the 4 🙂

I do try to add in photo’s of all 4 of us at both the beginning of the year’s album’s and the end. Normally it’s either all 4 of us or 1 of each of us but I found some fave’s from late last year, had them printed and added a couple of stickers to each and called it done!

I am super happy with how this turned out and cannot wait to get playing with some more of these goodies!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping

Ten – My 1st share for Scrapping Clearly!

Hi there!

I’m here today with my very 1st share for ScrappingClearly and honestly, I am so, so excited to be a part of this amazingly talented team! Thank you Kylie for inviting me along for the next 6 months!!

I have used the gorgeous Simple Stories “Life in Color” range to create my first layout, Ten – celebrating hubby’s and my 10th Valentines together. By chance, our very 1st date was on Valentine’s Day and here we are 10 years down the track!

I used this month’s sketch as inspiration and as you can see I have flipped it so the main cluster is on the right instead of the left.

This gorgeous range was so much fun to work with and it can be found here in store. I added a little bit of gesso and some water colouring in the background along with some clear matt gel to follow along with the sketch.

I just love, love, love the pops of silver throughout this collection!

I have added some black thread from my stash in 2 places and also used some silver thread to sew through a few elements on the page!

That flair badge is from the MME On Trend 2 collection and can be found here.

So, that’s my share for today! I hope I have inspired you to play along with this fun sketch, remember, you have until the end of the month to link up!

I have already got to work on my next project and I cannot wait to share so until then happy scrapping!!

I made stuff!!

Hi hi!

Just thought I’d quickly show you what I managed to create while away at retreat last weekend. Not my most productive weekend but also not my least productive so I’m happy!!

First up here is a 12×12 and PL style page for Jacobs 2015 album. I used the Simple Stories “We Are Family” range that was in the retreat kit challenge. I love this range!

And the facing page in his album also from the same range, same kit 🙂

Next is our week 38 using the Simple Stories “Daily Grind” range.

And our week 39 using the Shimelle “Lovely” PL kit paired with the Shimelle “True Stories” stickers and the Shimelle rub ons.

Oh, I only just noticed that one of those hearts have moved O.o

And then our week 40 using Simple Stories “Summer Vibe” 6×6 paper pad.

I actually purchased some of the bits from this range for this paper, I just love it and decided rather than hoard it I would use it!

I did get another project completed but that is the frame I created for my little coloured fairy which is currently making her way to her new home so I will share after she has arrived but here is a sneaky peek!

And lastly, I got about 3/4 of the way through completing a DT project for Dusty Attic and again, I can’t share it yet but here is a sneaky peek!!

So, thank you so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

Hopefully I will be back today with days 1 and 2 of our DD for 2015 using the gorgeous kit from The Stamp Spot 🙂

September (already?!?) with Dusty Attic

Hi hi! I’m here with you today sharing my projects for September for Dusty Attic!! September, really?! How did that happen?

Anyways, I have 2 projects to share this month – a traditional 12×12 LO and a double page spread with a 12×12 and a PL style page for my littlest guys album.

First up my 12×12 LO! I have had this idea in my head for ages now and am so pleased I finally got it done!! I made a collage of some of my favourite photo’s from 2014 for the cover of my 2015 diary and also had the same collage printed as a 6×6 photo for this page.

I have used the Simple Stories Daily Grind range, which I thought was the perfect fit for this type of page!! I got the collection pack so have all the papers and a couple of sticker sheets.

I applied a messy coat of gesso after I stuck some of the papers down and then applied some mist using some plastic packaging and “stamping”. Some stamping with black archival ink, some layers behind my photo, a “flip”, some magnets and of course those gorgeous Dusty pieces which I have applied some versamark ink and gold embossing powder to.

As I mentioned, a “flip” mechanism (simply a piece of scrap cardstock scored in half, the ends trimmed into a “v” shape and then adhered to the layers where it can’t be seen) which holds my journalling and also includes a photograph of my Pop who passed away in December 2014. I have cut a slit in my page protector so that it is easy enough for people to read the journalling when (heck, IF!) they flip through it. I have also hidden some little, very strong magnets in the paper layers so that it all sits nicely when closed.

A close up of the chippy pieces in the top left corner

And the chippy piece that is peeking out from under the photo layers

The chippy pieces I have used are as follows:

2014 Year In Review – DA1092
Mini View Finders – DA1080
Mini Captions #1 – DA1279
Mini Captions #2 – DA1291H

So, onto my other project for this month!

These are the pages for Hunter’s album for March 2015.

As I have mentioned previously I am (slowly!!) working on my boys albums in a month to month format to capture their personalities, quirks and developments. I aim for 1 traditional LO and 1 PL style LO for the month so 2 12×12 pages all up.

Here are both pages together as they sit in the album

I have used the Heidi Swapp September skies PL kit, ephemera and one of the 12×12 sheets of paper.

The left side

I love, love, love how this turned out!!

Firstly I did some work on the background of that paper. I applied a light, messy coat of gesso with my finger then applied the mists and gelato colours I knew I was going to use on the chippy piece (which are Heidi Swapp navy and peacock colour shine and a green gelato from my stash) again using the plastic packaging/stamping technique. Then I did some splatters all around and finally some stamps using a couple of roller date stamps and black archival ink.

I have applied the mists and gelato that I have watered down to use as water colours to that background chippy piece after applying a coat of gesso. A couple of coats of white paint to the title pieces, some ephemera pieces, some of the little squares from the cut apart sheet in the 6×6 paper pad and some enamel dots.

A closer look at the centre of the page where most of the design is

And a close up of the background chippy piece

And the title pieces

I realised after I took the photos that there was no journalling so I have tucked a little shipping tag near the top at the back of the LO which also has some twine so people flipping through can see it’s there.

And the right hand PL side

I didn’t really take any photo’s of the individual pockets but I really LOVE how my title card turned out – simple, yet effective so here you go!!

The chippies pieces I have used are as follows:
Triangle Panel Small – all of the mini triangles have come from this
Mini ABC Upper – DA0861N
Mini ABC Lower – DA0862
Love You Arrows – DA1070O
Mini Captions #5 – DA1308I
Word Pack #6 – DA1187

That’s it for me for today but make sure you pull out your chippy and play along with the (yet another!!) gorgeous inspiration board for your chance at a $100 Dusty Attic voucher!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!
