{Colour Blast} Flying Baby ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey my scrappy friends, today I am here sharing my latest DT make for Colour Blast Australia.

I decided to play along with the August challenge this month and instead of using just one product I have used 2 but in a RAINBOW of colours!!

Here again is the August challenge for you

I have used the Colour Spray and a Colour Paste.

Here is the line up of my sprays

Like I said, a RAINBOW! In it’s true ROYGBIV form! Yep, I’m using Indigo and Violet but from left to right the colours are:
Love, Sunset, Saffron, Rainforest, Lagoon, Indigo and Violet.

And just a refresher if you are  not sure, the Colour Sprays are beautifully pigmented flat colour with no shimmer but gorgeous none the less!!

Here is what I did with my Colour Sprays

This is a technique I have been meaning to use for ages but just kept forgetting! I have simply sprayed each colour 2 or 3 times straight onto the bubble wrap – which I cut to roughly 12×12 size – and then put my textured card stock on top and did some reverse stamping! No gesso needed as there was  not a lot of water being added to the page.

This is what my stamping looked like!! I just love it! And so too does my 7 year old who chose the photo’s I am scrapping today 😉 Needless to say, they HAD to be of him!!

I left that to dry naturally and added a couple of layers of white tissue paper behind my photo. By the time I got that stuck my background was dry and ready for me to do my next layer, which was some stamping in both a light and dark grey ink.

I did a real quick dry off with my heat tool and added another layer. This time I wanted sparkle and not much colour so I grabbed the beautiful Snow White Colour Paste and this fun 7 Dots stencil.

As you can see in the photo the paste goes on white with some shimmer but as it dries it goes clear with SO MUCH shimmer. It is beautiful and I love that you can still see the stamping and the rainbow through the paste.

Time for some coordinating embellishments.

I chose wood veneer from Cocoa Vanilla Studios and 3 of the Colour Sprays – Love, Lagoon and Indigo and just painted the colour straight onto the veneer. I hurried along the drying process with my heat tool and then my next step was, of course, more shimmery goodness!!

I used my embossing ink dabber and of course the Snow White Colour Embossing Powder. 2 coats just to make sure they were super shimmery 😉

With all of my bits coloured and dried it was time to assemble my page and here is the final design

I felt that the white edge left a little something to be desired so I found this fun rainbow patterned paper in my stash, gutted it, cut down my white and attached my page. I think it really makes the whole page come together – especially with that rainbow stitched border!

Here are a few more close ups! Well, quiet a few close ups actually! Enjoy!

Here you can see all that beautiful shimmer from the Colour Paste!

I tried to keep the embellishments within the background colours and love how the veneer came out!

So, that is my challenge for August done and I love the end result using a technique I have wanted to try for AGES!

{Stash} Hello Baby Ethan ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey there my scrappy friends!! I have a quick layout share for you today of this page I made to document me meeting one of my scrappy friends little people for the first time!

I made this page about a month or so ago but am sad to say that it has taken me that long to a) getting around to doing a voice over and b) getting around to actually documenting this memory – this little guy is 1 at the end of this month! Oops!

I have once again used more Colour Blast products to create those adorable clouds on the page. I have kept the whole page pretty airy and I love it!

The process video is below, all you need to do is click play and enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed and until next time, happy scrapping!

{Colour Blast} Eat, Sleep, Be Cute, Repeat ~ An OTP project

Hi there Colour Blasters, I’m here with you today and I am sharing a sweet frame I made for a baby shower today!

This all came together pretty quickly (besides the stitching 😉 ) and is so easy to re-create, I hope you follow along and get some inspiration!

First up, I started with my white cardstock and a cut file from the Silhoutte store. I chose to cut parts of the file with the blade to back with papers and chose to use my sketch pens to draw out some of the words for me to colour and then hand stitch around.

The very first thing I did after peeling the paper off the cutting mat was to do the water colouring. I used a pointy pallet knife to add a tiny bit of both the Paris and the Lush Colour Shimmer Dusts to my tray.

Now, don’t let the colour of the dry dust confuse you!! These are both green colours and are STUNNING!!

The magic is when you add water 😉 You can then see the true colour and all the beautiful shimmer. Which is exactly what I did next using a pipette, straight into the little wells.

Give them a good mix up and you get your shimmery, colourful watercolour-y media ready to go! I used a small-ish paintbrush and simply added colour to each outlined letter. I used a mix of both the Lush and Paris to give different shades and a little more depth to the words for a little more interest.

After that was dried, I went around all the coloured words with my pokey tool and poked holes about 1/4″ all the way around for my stitching.

Me being me, I managed to smudge a little colour where I didn’t want it – to rectify I quick grabbed a paper towel and mopped up as much of the colour as I could. I wasn’t able to get all the colour up so I decided next up to add a few sprinkles of the green colours in diagonal across the page using the same paint brush – smudge covered, woohoo!!

Next up was the hand stitching. I chose a green coloured embroidery thread that matched pretty well to the Shimmer Dusts I had used. Now, this can be quiet time consuming but I love, love, love the finished product so am happy to put the time and effort in. I use a simple back stitch. Up from the back of the paper, down the next pierced hole, back up through the next hole and then back through the previous pierced hole etc etc.

I wanted to a little extra texture and interest so pulled out a star stamp (from a Christmas set!!) and stamped with my embossing ink the same diagonal as the green splatters and then heat embossed the very pretty Snow White Colour Embossing Powder.

Oh lala, this is looking beautiful!

When that was all done it was time to back the cut words. I have used some scraps of a very pretty wood grain paper in my stash and just outlined the back of each letter and then glued on the paper.

I popped it into the frame I had purchased and I couldn’t be happier with the end result!!

I really hope the parents-to-be love it but I am pretty certain it will be a hit!

Here are a couple of close ups

If you would like to see the whole process there is a process video available, just click on the play button below!

I hope this has inspired you to create something a little different and perhaps something off the page!

{Colour Blast} DIY Cards with the Valentines Pack’s

Hello, hello!! I’m here with you today sharing the fun I have been having with my very own Valentine’s Pack #2 from Colour Blast!!!

Oh, the colours and products in this pack are just gorgeous – not to mention AWESOME value for money!!

Being Valentine’s Day and having Valentine’s pack’s I figured I may as well create at least one Love Day card for my significant other! It is after all a special day for us as we had our very 1st date on Love Day in 2006 so I wish you all a very Happy Love Day with whoever you celebrate and however you celebrate!

Now onto the fun stuff!!

Here are the 2 cards I have created and I still have hearts left over so I think you will see them appear on other projects very soon!

There is a process video for you to watch if you wish, just click on the play button below!

And here are my step-by-steps, but most importantly I think if you are going to re-create this or something similar, have FUN and experiment with your products, this was a super fun way for me to play AND be productive 😉

First up I grabbed a scrap of white cardstock and used an embossing ink with the Snow White Colour Embossing Powder to apply some sparkle to the background before adding any colour.

I literally dumped the WHOLE container onto the paper to make sure I had even coverage. Make sure you tip the excess straight back into the container so you can use it later!

Next up, time to add some colour! I used the Candy Colour Shimmer Dust – swoon, I seriously love these Shimmer Dusts!! A tiny paint brush, a little sprinkle and then a wet big water colour type paint brush!

I did a few extra sprinkles of the Colour Dust and added water to get the effect I was after – which was a water colour, not even coverage and I LOVE how it came out!

Look at all that sparkle!! The Shimmer Dust has so much shimmer but on top of that embossing powder it seriously just pops off the paper ❤ Oh, you may also notice some faint splatters – I simply dripped a few drips of water using my paint brush onto the already dry Colour Shimmer Dust then soaked the excess water up with a paper towel and voila, extra texture!

I felt like it needed a little extra detail so I grabbed some Staz-On black ink and a couple of stamps – to be specific, some stitched stamps and a text stamp.

I stamped once after I inked up and then stamped off a few times until there was no ink left on the stamp with each of the stamps. Love the extra details stamping provides!

Onto the beautiful Colour Paste in Fire Engine – swoon – I love this colour so much!

A tiny heart stencil, some colour paste and more texture and a deeper pinky/red colour added. I popped this piece aside and let air dry and got to work on the backing of my card.

First up a piece of textured white cardstock – I am ALWAYS running out of or looking for black cardstock so this is a way to beat that problem and quiet possibly use up any old card scraps you have in colours you don’t like 😉 I grabbed what has affectionately now been dubbed my “black gesso brush”  and my  Black Heavy Gesso and applied a quick coat over the whole card front. This piece measures 10.5cm x 14.7cm if you are wondering!

This gesso applies beautifully, dries smoothly and dries super quick! Love it, I can see a lot of use in my future!

I decided to add some shimmer to the black gesso using the oh so beautiful Snow White Colour Shimmer Spray through a stencil. I did “mess” it up a little but I certainly wasn’t going for perfection! LOL! Love how this looks on the black gesso!

When my Colour Shimmer Spray was dried I added some more texture, again with the Colour Paste in Fire Engine and through a text stencil.

This got put to the side next so I could make my hearts. These were super simple to create! When the first piece of cardstock was completely dried I took my scissors and hand cut some hearts – I am a bit particular and like my hearts to be even so I trimmed a rough square off the card, folded the square in half and cut a heart shape. And if your not 100% happy with the shape its super easy to re-trim!

And here are all my hearts cut out!

I just love them!

When these were cut I started playing with the hearts and placement and came up with a sentiment. This very simple “love you” text which I decided to stamp in embossing ink and heat emboss with the Bling Colour Embossing Powder. So pretty, swoon!!

Time for assembly! I used a combination of tape adhesive, wet adhesive and hot glue to stick all the bits down. After I finished the first card I turned off my camera and put the 2nd one together. The biggest difference is that I used the Snow White Colour Embossing Powder through a stencil on the black gesso card base. And you can see that detail in the close up below!

And here are the cards, on their own

This is the one I created on video and have provided the step-by-step’s for

And the one created off screen.

And here are a few close ups of all the texture and fun of the beautiful Colour Blast products!

As these Valentine’s Pack’s are only available for a short time make sure you head over here to pick up either or both packs and take advantage of the awesome deal that Tenisha has put together!

Thank you , as always, for stopping by and if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section below!

Happy Colour Blasting!!

An idea inspired by Missy Whidden

Hi there friends!!

As the title suggests I am here today sharing a layout I was inspired to create after watching this Missy Whidden video! I love, love, love how that paper turned out with the white paint and all the fun colour added so I took inspiration from that and pulled out a paper I had 2 of that I was happy to sacrifice (in case it didnt turn out!!), some white acrylic paint and some gelatos!

Here is the paper, bare, in progess and as butterflies!

And I decided to use 3 of them on another wedding layout! Another has made it’s way onto an art journal page and I think that leaves me 1 or 2 to find homes for!

And a couple of close ups

I used the beautiful Snow White Colour Paste by Colour Blast in the background and the bling shimmer spray and snow white for splatters 🙂

The title is from Dusty Attic and I just heat embossed that with the gorgeous bling embossing powder from Colour Blast as well.

The papers are all from my stash – I have a box of supplies put aside for wedding layouts and when I feel inspired I’ll pull out product and photos from there and create yet another page for our album.

Just a super quick share for today, my life is currently going a million miles an hour, which is apparently what adulthood/parenthood is all about!!

I hope you get some scrappy time in this weekend and I hope that between myself and the very talented Missy I hope you are tempted to just have a play with what you have in your stash!!
