{Colour Blast} Zoom Zoom

Hi, hi Colour Blast fans, Melinda here with you today sharing a fun page I created about our family car!

Have you ever experimented with the Colour Shimmer products on black cardstock?!? If you haven’t you so should, the colours look amazing and so bright and fun!

Here is the page I created

And here are my step-by-steps

First up, a stencil and 4 colours of the gorgeous Colour Pastes – I’ve used Steel, Sunshine, Tangereen Dream and Apple of My Eye. I have used my pallet knife and randomly applied colour through the stencil until I was happy with the way it was looking.

While that was still wet (because I am impatient 😉 ) I grabbed the matching Colour Shimmer Sprays (again Steel, Sunshine, Tangereen Dream and Apple of My Eye) and did some sprinkles with the nozzle from the bottle. I don’t know what happened to my “in progress” photo but below you can see the beautiful shimmer and colour that the droplets have left. Totally, swoon worthy!

I popped my background aside and got to work on my “layers”. Now, after lots of mucking around and pulling out different things I decided with all that colour in the background less was more. So, I very simply grabbed some black and white tissue paper to back my photo and this die cut I have had sitting on my desk for months. It was cut in white and the white was too stark so I grabbed my Steel Colour Shimmer Spray and paint brush and applied a couple of quick coats.

I love how this looks!

I really didn’t think that the page needed too much more added with all of that bright colour in the background so I found a couple of black and white tabs and a black and white flair – which I added a little nest of silver thread behind and added some dimension and stuck my layers down.

My journalling came next, down the 2 sides of the page with a white paint pen and with a couple of doodled borders on the top and bottom edges.

At this point I decided some white splatters would finish it off nicely so I mixed together some white heavy gesso and water, grabbed a paint brush, covered my photo and flicked watered down gesso around. Love how this tied it all together!

Here again is my completed project

And below is my You Tube process video if you’d like to see my page come together!

Thanks, as always for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!

Best Jeans Ever ~ Kraft+ March ~ Denim Revolution

Hi there scrappy friends!! It’s been a very productive month for me, not just in my scrap room but getting all the things done so I feel like I’m winning!! Haha!

Speaking of winning, this is the 2nd month in a row I have managed to get in an entry for the K+ monthly challenge and this month there is still 9 days to go so that is a win in my books 😉

Enough chatter and onto the challenge! It’s an awesome one this month – Denim Revolution! I had actually decided back in January (or perhaps it was December) when K+ did their “Inspiration from your wardrobe” challenge to use denim, specifically the jeans I have used this month so as soon as I saw this month I KNEW what I wanted to scrap about!

Here is the challenge for March

And here is my take on the challenge!!

I love, love, love how this page came together and with the jeans pocket taking up so much room my page came together really quickly!

Here is the process video if you would like to see it all happen!

And here are some close ups!

I have, of course, used some Colour Blast products in the background – the White Heavy Gesso and also the Bubblegum and Saffron Colour Sprays. Oh, and don’t forget that Steel Colour Paste 😉

Thanks so much for stopping by, I am so happy to have the story of my favourtie jeans told and in our album! Future generations may think geez, this lady was strange but that’s ok. Totally!

Have a great scrappy day and see you soon!

{Colour Blast DT} Secret Santa Gift Tags

Hi there my lovely followers! I am here with you today sharing some fun Christmas tags I made for my family Secret Santa gift exchange!

I seriously had a lot of fun putting these together and just playing so I really cannot recommend highly enough JUST PLAYING! It’s so fun and you never know, you may make your most fave thing ever!

If you would like to see my process click on the link below for my process video, otherwise read on for my step-by-steps!!

First up I cut some tag shapes with my Silhouette Cameo (you could do the same with either a die, some pre-cut tags or even hand cut your own tags) onto plain white cardstock. I used my sketch pens and I font I LOVE to write out everyone’s name knowing I wanted to water colour them.

I left the tags attached to my mat so that I could easily keep track of all the bits and took it over to my work space and got to work.

First up some grey chalk ink with a Darkroom Door background stamp (Christmas Script) randomly stamped across all the tags.

I then grabbed the gorgeous Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust, added a little to an empty ephemera pack with a little water and used a little paint brush to colour the names on each of the tags.

I used some of the left over mix to add splatters across all the tags and when that was dry moved onto the colour paste.

I grabbed a little stencil from my stash and my Steel Colour Paste and again, added that randomly through the stencil across all the tags.

I knew I wanted to include pops of red so I grabbed out some packaging and my Love Colour Spray to do the trusty packaging technique to add some pops of red.

I used the nozzle to apply some splatters of the Love across all the tags as well.

I decided to add a flair to each tag so grabbed a few from my stash along with some red sewing thread to make a little nest for each flair.

After they were all attached I decided I wanted a little more sparkle so grabbed my Steel Colour Shimmer Spray and added some splatters with the nozzle.

A couple of finishing touches including red and white twine and some sequins and 8 tags ready to go!

I’m really pleased with how these turned out and best of all I really did have a lot of fun creating them!

I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas Day celebrations and perhaps some of you even found some Colour Blast goodies under the tree?!

I can’t wait to share my next post in the New Year so until then, stay safe, celebrate in style and get messy!

{ScrappingClearly DT} Spring CC Colour Challenge

Hi there!! Thanks so much for stopping by! I am here with you today with a quick share of my page and process for my colour challenge over at ScrappingClearly for our Spring Cyber Crop!! You can see most of my process in a video I have uploaded here

I hope you are enjoying all the fun we are having over on the FB group (if you have no idea what I’m talking about head over here and join in the fun!) and manage to get in some scrappy time over the course of the next week to play along!

As I mentioned above my challenge is a colour challenge and here is the page I came up with

My colours are teal, silver/grey, black and white 🙂

I was in Target a couple of weeks ago and found these paper straws and I just LOVED the colours in them so picked them up knowing (or hoping!!!) I would/could use them on a page!

Here is a closer look at them since they were the inspiration for this whole page!

When I picked them up my mind went straight to the Colour Blast products I have used – Deep Water and Steel – in both the Colour Pastes and the Shimmer sprays.

I spread both Deep Water and Steel through a stencil from my stash onto the background and also lots of sprinkles of both colours with the nozzle from the bottle. I actually managed to leave it to dry overnight – my impatience was occupied with other projects as I started this page while I was away on a recent retreat!

I have also used the Shimmer Sprays (in both Deep Water and Steel) to paint that fun banner from the Banner Delights pack by Heidi Swapp. I just used a paint brush and a little water 🙂

I stitched the banners down below the photo and straws and left the threads long as I wanted this page to be a bit fun and almost party like as this is a photo of myself and my littlest guy on his recent birthday.

That gorgeous fun white veneer word from the “Today” Heidi Swapp veneer pack fit in nicely between the layers and gave a bit more fun texture to the page.

Alphas from my stash for my title – again, something relaxed and fun!

I stuck the photo down with some fun foam to match the dimension the straws brought to the page, added some of the really cool WRMK Clearly Posh enamel shapes, some star and circle enamel shapes from my stash, my journalling, a little stamping in 3 places and finally a few little lines of stitching.

I’ll leave you with a couple more close ups and hopefully lots of inspiration to play along! Make sure you head over to the FB group to see all the fun challenges and play along with all of the games happening over this weekend!

Happy scrapping and thanks so much for stopping by!!

{Colour Blast Australia DT} Chaos and Love

Hello there my lovely followers I’m here with you today sharing my latest entry in my Circle Journal journey (if you wish to see my other couple of pages they are here, here and here)

AND I have a process video of my pages coming together! You can see that here!! Otherwise, read on for close up’s and more details!

So, first up I started with a coat of gesso on both sides of the brown paper bag album I was working in and then I used a black paint marker to write a bunch of seemingly random words all across the pages. My theme in this journal was “A Day In Your Life” and it was the middle of school holidays when I received it so my first thought was “Really, how does one scrap/journal chaos?!” Haha! So all the words are very relevant to a Mum in the middle of the school holidays with a pair of little boys who are a bit crazy!!

After that was all dry I grabbed a bunch of my Colour Blast Colour Pastes – Rose Petal, Lovely Lilac, Singin’ the Blues, Sunshine, Tangerine Dream and Steel and random applied colour with a palette knife!

This is what the page looked like when I had finished applying all the different colours! Chaotic, yes?! Some of the paste is quick thick in places and in others not so much but I love the depth that that helps to create!

I had googled “family chaos quotes” or something to that effect and found this one and thought it was perfect! “Our family has just the right mix of chaos and love” I pulled a bunch of alphas from my stash, some old thickers that I knew I wouldn’t use, some random chippy letters I have had in my stash for years and also (the littlest ones!) some chippy ones from Dusty Attic. They all got a coat of black paint and after that was dry I went in with a silver paint marker through all the middle of the letters for an extra pop.

I didn’t feel that the silver was enough of a pop, they kinda blended into the page a little with that chaotic background, so did some outlining with my white paint maker.

The extra pop I was hoping for with the white paint marker around didn’t quite do enough so I decided to put some of the same marker onto the letters and BOOM! there was that pop I had been hoping for! I finished up with some splatters of Roadbase  Colour Spray and some enamel dots in all the different colours.

I love how this spread came together and in the end I think it totally captured where my days were at that point in time!

Here are some close ups of my completed page, I hope you like my pages and that you get your fun goodies out to have a play!

Thanks again for stopping by and make sure you get your products out and just play, you just never know where your projects will end up! Oh, and if your not already a part of the fun Colour Blast FB group that has been set up for fans head over here to join up, share your creations and see what everyone else is doing with their Colour Blast products!! Have a fab scrappy day!

{Colour Blast DT} Hello Darling

Hi there! I am SO, SO, SO excited to be here sharing my very first Colour Blast layout!! A massive thank you to Tenisha for asking me to join this incredibly talented bunch of ladies doing something we all love!!

So, enough of my gushing (I sometimes still pinch myself, I’m  honestly so excited to be here!!) and onto what you came here for, the crafty fun!

Here is the page I made!

In all honesty I just started this page playing! I wanted to use the awesome Colour Mica Powders as I had never used anything like them before (and the shimmer is just gorgeous!!) so I grabbed a couple of colours I loved (cool mint and polar – so, so, so pretty!!), some modelling paste, some white cardstock and a stencil. I totally didn’t think to gesso my page I was so eager to play but am super impressed with how the cardstock held up! I sprinkled a little of the colour mica powder onto the stencil and then applied some white modelling paste through the stencil.

I wasn’t sure what would happen or how far the colour would go but I decided that I was after something a bit more saturated in colour so I sprinkled some of the same colour powders (this time one at a time) straight over the stencilled areas and spritzed with water. LOTS of water. After I spritzed the mica powders I just tipped the page to get the colour to run and move around the page. I also added some of the powders to a few drops of water and used a dropper for big splatters (I forgot to take photos but you can see it all in the video linked at the bottom of the post!) in both colours. I dried in between colours and LOVE how the background came out!

As I said, I had NO idea what I was going to do with this background, heck IF I was even going to use it for anything so the background sat on my desk for a few days and then I was hit with inspiration and chose a photo of my youngest boy and a few pieces from the Crate Paper Little You collection, some veneer pieces and some chipboard pieces from Dusty Attic.

I worked out placement of all my bits and then decided I wanted to emboss the chipboard and the veneer. I love the pops of yellow in the Crate Paper collection so decided to emboss my stars (chippy) with the gorgeous, bright Sunshine Colour Embossing Powder. Two coats!!

And wanted to bring in a little silver (I had a flair badge in my stash I wanted to use) so used the Steel Colour Embossing Powder on the veneer words for my title. Again, 2 coats and it turned out ever so pretty!

Before I put everything together I wanted to bring a little yellow into the background so grabbed out my Sunshine Colour Shimmer Spray and sprinkled that across my page.

I used my tiny attacher, foam adhesive and wet adhesive to stick it all down and LOVE how this page turned out!

And here are some close ups of my completed page!

The title area

Isn’t that embossed veneer beautiful?!

The top cluster

An even closer close up of the top cluster!

And finally the area under my photo/next to my journalling

It’s really hard to photograph the sparkly sheen where I have used the Mica powders but you can sort of see it here!

I also recorded my whole process of making this page and I would love it if you stopped by to take a peek. The video can be found here.

That is it for me and my first post with Colour Blast. If you haven’t yet tried out those awesome Colour Mica Powders I seriously cannot recommend them enough! They are so pretty and so FUN to use! The Colour Embossing Powders and Colour Shimmer Sprays have so much sparkle to them, like nothing else I have worked with!

Thanks so much for stopping by and see you soon!
