{Colour Blast} Zoom Zoom

Hi, hi Colour Blast fans, Melinda here with you today sharing a fun page I created about our family car!

Have you ever experimented with the Colour Shimmer products on black cardstock?!? If you haven’t you so should, the colours look amazing and so bright and fun!

Here is the page I created

And here are my step-by-steps

First up, a stencil and 4 colours of the gorgeous Colour Pastes – I’ve used Steel, Sunshine, Tangereen Dream and Apple of My Eye. I have used my pallet knife and randomly applied colour through the stencil until I was happy with the way it was looking.

While that was still wet (because I am impatient 😉 ) I grabbed the matching Colour Shimmer Sprays (again Steel, Sunshine, Tangereen Dream and Apple of My Eye) and did some sprinkles with the nozzle from the bottle. I don’t know what happened to my “in progress” photo but below you can see the beautiful shimmer and colour that the droplets have left. Totally, swoon worthy!

I popped my background aside and got to work on my “layers”. Now, after lots of mucking around and pulling out different things I decided with all that colour in the background less was more. So, I very simply grabbed some black and white tissue paper to back my photo and this die cut I have had sitting on my desk for months. It was cut in white and the white was too stark so I grabbed my Steel Colour Shimmer Spray and paint brush and applied a couple of quick coats.

I love how this looks!

I really didn’t think that the page needed too much more added with all of that bright colour in the background so I found a couple of black and white tabs and a black and white flair – which I added a little nest of silver thread behind and added some dimension and stuck my layers down.

My journalling came next, down the 2 sides of the page with a white paint pen and with a couple of doodled borders on the top and bottom edges.

At this point I decided some white splatters would finish it off nicely so I mixed together some white heavy gesso and water, grabbed a paint brush, covered my photo and flicked watered down gesso around. Love how this tied it all together!

Here again is my completed project

And below is my You Tube process video if you’d like to see my page come together!

Thanks, as always for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!

You Two Make Me Smile

Hi there and welcome to my blog today!!

I have this fun, mostly clean and simple layout to share with you today!

D-lish Scraps celebrated their birthday (a few months ago now!!) and had a fun online crop. I had about 30 minutes to complete this challenge which was the Mystery Box challenge. Amanda pulled out 5 ingredients and we were to include at least 3 of the 5. The 5 were veneer, flair, resin, bitty bag and doilies. I used 4 of the 5, only missing the bag!

I didn’t really have much of an idea of what I wanted to do but I pulled out this hilarious photo of my 2 boys and the bunny and that veneer “smile” and got to work.

The flair were made for me by my friend Michelle, the veneer crosses are from Rainbow Splendour, the resin flowers may have been Stampin Up and the doily from D-lish. I used the awesome Sunshine colour paste and embossing powder from Colour Blast Australia and am super happy how this page came together! Another memory documented and funny story told. I wonder what my boys will say in 5, 10 or even 20 years time!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

{ScrappingClearly DT} Some People Scrapbook Layout

Hello there, I’m here with you today sharing my latest layout using the gorgeous MME “My Story” range available in the ScrappingClearly store!

Here is my layout and I really love how it all came together!

I started with that big cut file that I got from Just Nick studio. It’s called Some People and I seriously LOVE it! I used a mix of Colour Blast Sprays in Love and Sunset (these 2 are colour spray – flat colour, no shimmer) and also Sunshine, Tangerine Dream and Bling (these 3 are shimmer spray, so, so pretty!!) and the very fancy plastic packaging technique after I applied a coat of gesso and VERY carefully peeled the file off my cutting mat!

Here is a close up of the cut file and I love all the different colours in it. I chose my colours based on the colours in the MME collection florals.

I have a couple of layers behind my photo using the Grandma’s Quilt paper and also some of the GORGEOUS vellum from the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection. The background paper is the B side of the BEAUTIFUL Heirloom Rose’s paper and thankfully I had a second sheet so I could fussy cut some of those stunning florals!

I added a very subtle detail using a stencil from my stash and some pretty Colour Blast Bling Colour Paste on the area behind the photo.

I’ve kept the embellishing pretty simple with only a couple of the floral clusters, some of the cute as cork hearts from the Pink Paislee C’est La Vie collection, some of the WRMK Clearly Posh giant enamel dots and a few sequins from the Red/Pink Studio Calico sequin pack.

And of course, it was finished off with a sprinkle of Colour Blast Bling Colour Shimmer spray and also a simple label sticker from the Paper and Acessories kit. I didn’t feel like this page needed any journalling (which is unusual for me!) because that title said everything I wanted to say 🙂

Here are a couple of close ups and I also have a process video you can watch if you’d like to see this page come together you can see that here.

That’s it for me for today, please if you have any questions or comments leave them below and I will get back to you ASAP!

Thanks for stopping by and remember to go and create something!

{Colour Blast Australia DT} Chaos and Love

Hello there my lovely followers I’m here with you today sharing my latest entry in my Circle Journal journey (if you wish to see my other couple of pages they are here, here and here)

AND I have a process video of my pages coming together! You can see that here!! Otherwise, read on for close up’s and more details!

So, first up I started with a coat of gesso on both sides of the brown paper bag album I was working in and then I used a black paint marker to write a bunch of seemingly random words all across the pages. My theme in this journal was “A Day In Your Life” and it was the middle of school holidays when I received it so my first thought was “Really, how does one scrap/journal chaos?!” Haha! So all the words are very relevant to a Mum in the middle of the school holidays with a pair of little boys who are a bit crazy!!

After that was all dry I grabbed a bunch of my Colour Blast Colour Pastes – Rose Petal, Lovely Lilac, Singin’ the Blues, Sunshine, Tangerine Dream and Steel and random applied colour with a palette knife!

This is what the page looked like when I had finished applying all the different colours! Chaotic, yes?! Some of the paste is quick thick in places and in others not so much but I love the depth that that helps to create!

I had googled “family chaos quotes” or something to that effect and found this one and thought it was perfect! “Our family has just the right mix of chaos and love” I pulled a bunch of alphas from my stash, some old thickers that I knew I wouldn’t use, some random chippy letters I have had in my stash for years and also (the littlest ones!) some chippy ones from Dusty Attic. They all got a coat of black paint and after that was dry I went in with a silver paint marker through all the middle of the letters for an extra pop.

I didn’t feel that the silver was enough of a pop, they kinda blended into the page a little with that chaotic background, so did some outlining with my white paint maker.

The extra pop I was hoping for with the white paint marker around didn’t quite do enough so I decided to put some of the same marker onto the letters and BOOM! there was that pop I had been hoping for! I finished up with some splatters of Roadbase  Colour Spray and some enamel dots in all the different colours.

I love how this spread came together and in the end I think it totally captured where my days were at that point in time!

Here are some close ups of my completed page, I hope you like my pages and that you get your fun goodies out to have a play!

Thanks again for stopping by and make sure you get your products out and just play, you just never know where your projects will end up! Oh, and if your not already a part of the fun Colour Blast FB group that has been set up for fans head over here to join up, share your creations and see what everyone else is doing with their Colour Blast products!! Have a fab scrappy day!

{Colour Blast DT} Hello Darling

Hi there! I am SO, SO, SO excited to be here sharing my very first Colour Blast layout!! A massive thank you to Tenisha for asking me to join this incredibly talented bunch of ladies doing something we all love!!

So, enough of my gushing (I sometimes still pinch myself, I’m  honestly so excited to be here!!) and onto what you came here for, the crafty fun!

Here is the page I made!

In all honesty I just started this page playing! I wanted to use the awesome Colour Mica Powders as I had never used anything like them before (and the shimmer is just gorgeous!!) so I grabbed a couple of colours I loved (cool mint and polar – so, so, so pretty!!), some modelling paste, some white cardstock and a stencil. I totally didn’t think to gesso my page I was so eager to play but am super impressed with how the cardstock held up! I sprinkled a little of the colour mica powder onto the stencil and then applied some white modelling paste through the stencil.

I wasn’t sure what would happen or how far the colour would go but I decided that I was after something a bit more saturated in colour so I sprinkled some of the same colour powders (this time one at a time) straight over the stencilled areas and spritzed with water. LOTS of water. After I spritzed the mica powders I just tipped the page to get the colour to run and move around the page. I also added some of the powders to a few drops of water and used a dropper for big splatters (I forgot to take photos but you can see it all in the video linked at the bottom of the post!) in both colours. I dried in between colours and LOVE how the background came out!

As I said, I had NO idea what I was going to do with this background, heck IF I was even going to use it for anything so the background sat on my desk for a few days and then I was hit with inspiration and chose a photo of my youngest boy and a few pieces from the Crate Paper Little You collection, some veneer pieces and some chipboard pieces from Dusty Attic.

I worked out placement of all my bits and then decided I wanted to emboss the chipboard and the veneer. I love the pops of yellow in the Crate Paper collection so decided to emboss my stars (chippy) with the gorgeous, bright Sunshine Colour Embossing Powder. Two coats!!

And wanted to bring in a little silver (I had a flair badge in my stash I wanted to use) so used the Steel Colour Embossing Powder on the veneer words for my title. Again, 2 coats and it turned out ever so pretty!

Before I put everything together I wanted to bring a little yellow into the background so grabbed out my Sunshine Colour Shimmer Spray and sprinkled that across my page.

I used my tiny attacher, foam adhesive and wet adhesive to stick it all down and LOVE how this page turned out!

And here are some close ups of my completed page!

The title area

Isn’t that embossed veneer beautiful?!

The top cluster

An even closer close up of the top cluster!

And finally the area under my photo/next to my journalling

It’s really hard to photograph the sparkly sheen where I have used the Mica powders but you can sort of see it here!

I also recorded my whole process of making this page and I would love it if you stopped by to take a peek. The video can be found here.

That is it for me and my first post with Colour Blast. If you haven’t yet tried out those awesome Colour Mica Powders I seriously cannot recommend them enough! They are so pretty and so FUN to use! The Colour Embossing Powders and Colour Shimmer Sprays have so much sparkle to them, like nothing else I have worked with!

Thanks so much for stopping by and see you soon!
