{ScrappingClearly} Hello Hipster Bar ~ A Scrapbook Layout

Howdy scrappers!

Today I am sharing my take on the ScrappingClearly sketch for February and after a bit of a rough start – stress has kinda made my mojo harder to find – and picking photos off I went!

Here again is this months sketch

And my interpretation

This layout came together reasonably quickly for me and I even contemplated the idea of no mixed media but the messy 3 year old in me won out!!

There is also a process video which you can watch below!

I started with Paper #07 from the Pink Paislee C’est La Vie collection (yes, still hanging onto some of this gorgeous collection 😉 ) and added a torn strip of Paper #03 to the middle-ish of the page.

I built my title knowing I wanted to use one of the gorgeous “Jumbo Words” by Heidi Swapp for the Minc but not sure which one. After picking my photo’s I came up with “Hello Hipster Bar” and my word was chosen! I went on the hunt for some smaller alphas and found the Something Wonderful Alpha & Label Sticker Sheet by Teresa Collins which helped me pick my foil colours!

I went with the holographic foil for the title and one of the sheets from the Minc 6×6 paper pack. And then chose mint foil for another of the 6×6 papers from the same 6×6 pack which I layered behind my 2 photo’s.

This is where my inner messy 3 year old came out!! I started with some black texture stamps and then I’ve used Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Spray in Envy with the packaging technique and also the Colour Shimmer Pot in Envy to add splatters. While that dried I minc’d my pieces and then went back to the background.

I’ve added some extra texture using some Glass Bead Glitter Gel and a text stencil. This is so pretty – I really love the added texture!! Tip – if you have this (any kind!) in your stash USE it!! Mine is at the point where I really ought to throw it out – it is almost completely set in the tub – but I am going to experiment with hot water before I give up!

Time to stick everything down!!

I ended up using some fussy cut flowers from the Pink Paislee C’est La Vie collection Paper #08 and also fussy cut some butterflies from the gorgeous “Flutter” paper in the Maggie Holmes Bloom range.

A few gold sequins from Studio Calico, my journalling and a date stamp and I am done!

I hope I have inspired you to play along with this months sketch, remember, there is a $30 store voucher up for grabs for one lucky participant! Load up your entries here in our Facebook group!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Today I am sharing my latest make for ScrappingClearly and my first share for February! A 2017 PL spread which I have done a bit of a “ScrappingClearly Stash Dive” for supplies!

I’ve started with the following goodies and I will link to the store both here and where they appear throughout my blog post!! I also have a process video up on my YT channel which I would love for you to check out!!

Pink Fresh Studio – Boys Fort – “Bold” 12 x 12 paper
Pink Fresh Studio – Boys Fort – “High Five” 12 x 12 paper
Pink Fresh Studio – Boys Fort – “Wowzers” 12 x 12 paper
Pink Fresh Studio – Boys Fort – “You Rule” 12 x 12 paper
Pink Fresh Studio – Boys Fort – Mini Alpha Stickers
Pink Fresh Studio – Boys Fort – Cardstock Sticker Phrases
Pink Fresh Studio – Boys Fort – Ephemera
Pink Fresh Studio – Boys Fort – Printed Veneer Stickers
Teresa Collins – Something Wonderful – Washi Tape
Teresa Collins – Something Wonderful – Ephemera Tags
Teresa Collins – Something Wonderful – Photo Overlays
Heidi Swapp – Wood Veneer
Studio Calico – Brighton Pier – Wood Veneer
White Gesso
Distress Oxide Ink – Faded Jeans

And here are my pages, first up is the left hand side

On this side I have used the “Wowzers“, “High Five” and “You Rule” papers from Pink Fresh Studio as my cards. I’ve also used some of the Mini Alpha Stickers, ephemera pieces and also the Sticker Phrases from the same collection. A little washi and some veneer pieces from this pack by Heidi Swapp and this pack by Studio Calico. Some journalling and date stamps and the left hand side is done.

Here are a few close ups of this side

And here is the right hand side

On this side I have used 3 of the ephemera tags by Teresa Collins for the cards and cut a piece of the “Bold” patterned paper to 3×4 for my title card. I didn’t feel like I needed heaps of extra’s on this side but I have used the photo overlay on the bottom left hand photo, a couple of ephemera pieces and one of the printed veneer stickers. You can’t see but the bottom right photo is a flip pocket and on the inside I have a piece of the “Wowzers” patterned paper for my card and also one of the Studio Calico wood veneer pieces.

On my title card I have used another of the Heidi Swapp veneer pieces and covered that with 3 coats of white gesso and used a stamp from my stash with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink. Some washi, mini alpha stickers and a couple of the ephemera pieces and this page is all done too!

Here are a couple of close ups including one of the flip pocket opened

It feels so good going back and getting these pages done! Slow and steady and in the album is way more important than “perfect” to me and I am happy in that place right now!

I had lots of fun mixing and matching all of these different pieces together and really like the way it all came together in the end! I hope I inspire you to get some more stories documented and until next time, happy scrapping!!

{ScrappingClearly} WK 29 2016

Hey there ScrappingClearly friends, Melinda here with you today sharing my latest DT project!

Today I have a PL spread to share but before I do have this photo to share with you!

Can you guess what that is?! That is all I have left of my 6×6 paper pad from the Teresa Collins Something Wonderful range! Does it excite anyone else to get this far through a paper pad?!

Anyways, onto the details of our Week 29 for 2016.

Here is the front of the spread

And the back

As you can see I have used lots of the different patterned papers for my cards – I do love to use 6×6 pads for exactly that reason BUT I find myself with a stack of 2×6  strips that I am never sure what to do with! I totally lifted this idea from another very talented PL scrapper Angus K – so a big thank you for the idea!!

You can see here I have just stuck together 2 of the 2×6 strips of paper (using the “branding” strip as the joiner) together to create my 4×6 cards and I so super love this look!! And it’s SUPER easy using a paper pad because all of the designs work together!

You will also notice, this is not the best photo, it is quiet blurry but the only photo I got of myself and my boys at the movies so I turned it black and white and the quality is good enough 😉

Here are a few more close ups!

I had enough of the full 6×6 papers left that I was able to also cut 3 4×6 cards from one paper which I think gives a nice balance.

All of those 3×4 cards, know what they are?! They are from the same collection but they are the Ephemera Tags! I have simply chopped them down to size and decorated and journalled on them the same way I would with another 3×4 card. AND using the tags this way means I have extra “ephemera” pieces which you can see in a couple of the close ups above!

I have also used some of the washi tape, enamel dots, decorative buttons, ephemera pieces, word stickers and chipboard elements from the same collection to do a little decorating (AND lots of those pieces are currently ON SALE in the shop right now!!). I added in a little stamping using these stamps from the Heidi Swapp Magnolia Jane collection and finished off with some machine stitching and thickers from my stash!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and that perhaps you now have a different way to use up those left over 6×6 pattern paper bits!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{ScrappingClearly} Celebrate Him ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hello there scrappy friends, I’m here with you today sharing my latest page for ScrappingClearly!

I was lucky enough to have headed to the Brisbane Scrapbook Expo last weekend and have come home so, so, so inspired to get creating! I did, however come home absolutely shattered so had lots of YT time and stumbled across a video by someone (sorry if it was you!!) and lifted this idea!

I have used the gorgeous Teresa Collins Something Wonderful range available in the store and this is what I came up with!

Lots of fun paper layers from the 6×6 paper pad, some fun mixed media in the background using the gorgeous Dina Wakely Scribble Sticks (the colours I used are Turquoise/Sky/Red/Black) and lots of black machine stitching!! I have used a couple of the stickers as well from the alpha and labels sticker sheet as well as some of the Chipboard Sticker pieces.

This is a photograph of hubby and I at his recent 40th Birthday celebrations – I had actually printed this off as an option for one my classes at the Expo and didn’t use it so it was perfect for this page!

I have a process video up on the ScrappingClearly YT channel – make sure you subscribe so you can stay up to date with all the DT shares over there!! But, you can click on the play button below and watch in your browser!

Here are a few close up’s of my page!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and taking time out of your busy life to (hopefully!) find some inspiration to get your creative juices flowing and I’ll see you next time!

{ScrappingClearly} This Made Me Laugh ~ Scrapbook Layout

Hi there, today I’m here with my take on the very fun May 2017 mood board for ScrappingClearly. This was also designed by the very talented Peg and after much deliberation I came up with a fun page that I am really happy with!

First up, the mood board

And here is the page I created

This is a photo of hubby from our honeymoon (back in 2008) and one of the King Prawns we enjoyed at one of the places we ate out at. I chose this photo because I really wanted to challenge myself to somehow incorporate that fish!! Easy enough to run with the colours but man that fish stumped me for a while! My mind started wandering and wandered right along to this exact photo and the story I wanted to tell that goes along with it. My husband DOES NOT eat prawns!! Haha! But this night I think between the 2 of us we ate 2 or possibly 3 of these King Prawns and we both loved them!

Here you can see all that messy fun in the background!! I love how it came together and I used the awesomely cool and fun Scribble Sticks by Dina Wakely in Ruby, Tangerine, Lemon and Night. These things, if nothing else, are super fun to work with. I watched another scrappers tutorial process video which gave me a couple of ideas but I did play a bit too to get the feel of how best they work! And indeed, dipping the scribble stick into some water and scribbling onto the page was the best way to get a vibrant colour!
Oh, and I did apply a quick coat of white gesso to help the colours move.

I’ve also used some of the fun watercolour stickers by Vicki Boutin, the arrows and the word Laugh. Love how they came out, however, a heads up, don’t add LOTS of water, the paper will pill up!! Lesson learned 😉

I have used the gorgeous Teresa Collins Nine & Co range for all my embellishing and all the paper layers. Oh, and that cute camera paper clip by American Crafts.

There is a process video for this page, just click below and enjoy!

That’s it for me for today, so have fun and remember you still have a little over a week to get your entries in for both the sketch and the mood board challenges!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Melinda

{ScrappingClearly} Week 14 2017

Hi and hello my scrappy friends!! It is Melinda here with you today and I am sharing a PL spread I have put together using the GORGEOUS Teresa Collins Nine & Co range available in the store!!

I chose this particular week to use this range with as I had printed the title card and had edited the orange text onto the photo and the colours in this range match perfectly!!

Here are both pages together

And each page separately

And here is the title card that as soon as I took the photo I knew I was going to use it in this composition and I LOVE how it came together!

I have used my WRMK Typecast Typewriter for all of my journalling, sometimes I love the change it brings to my pages so am super keen to whip it out!!

I haven’t added a great deal of embellishment but I have used some of the cut apart cards for journalling and even cut some of the elements out of the cards for embellishing!

I really love how this card came together, I think it is maybe my favourite card of this spread!!

Though, I do love, love, love the story behind this photo!!

Anyways, that’s it for me for today!! I hope you find a way to document your everyday in a way that makes you happy!

Thank you, as always, for stopping by and have a fabulous day filled with lots of scrappy fun!!

{ScrappingClearly} Enjoy The View ~ May 2017 Sketch Challenge

Hi there ScrappingClearly fans, Melinda here with you today and I am sharing my take on the very fun May sketch challenge!

Here it is if you haven’t seen it

I have changed it up a little and turned it onto it’s side so my page is more like this

I also worked with a bigger photo and a less layers but love, love, love how this page turned out in the end!

I have used lots of pieces from the beautiful Teresa Collins Nine & Co range for this page and this stunning sunset photo from Easter 2017.

As you can see I have done some mixed media in the background and have used some beautiful Colour Blast Shimmer Sprays to create that fun, water-colour-y, sunset-y colour scheme.

And for title more Colour Blast goodies – this time Bling and Punch Embossing Powders. Oh, so pretty the way these 2 colours melted and mixed together ❤

For a few extra details I have added a number of the brads, trimmed up a little from each edge (this kinda had to happen – you can see what happened in my process video 😉 ) and mounted onto a patterned paper from the collection and I have literally matched the stitching from the sketch onto my layout using gold thread.

There is a process available if you would like to see the whole page come together – the hiccups and all 😉 Haha!! Just click on the button below and off you go!

I hope you enjoy my process and I hope you are inspired by the sketch and all of the DT samples to get your own entry in! Remember, you have until the end of the month to get your entries in for a voucher to spend in the store!

Happy scrapping, till next time!

{ScrappingClearly} Muddy Puddles in February ~ March Mood Board Challenge

Hi, hi and hello!! Welcome to my blog today!!

I’m sharing my take on the very fun March moodboard for ScrappingClearly today! Have you seen it yet?!

I just love, love, love this!! I was mostly inspired by the colours in the board this month, all those blues and greens, swoon!! Also, all those blue’s on the bottom 2/3 reminded me both of mud splatters (ok, somewhat not realistic mud splatters!!) and of course the fun technique of smooshing paint onto paper so of course that is the main technique I went with on this page as you can see below!

Again, I am using the incredibly versatile Teresa Collins Something Wonderful range this time pulling the black’s, white’s and blue’s from all the goodies!!

I had printed these 2 photos of my boys after a fun afternoon trip very recently to somewhere that should not have had muddy puddles this time of year!! You could say it was a once in a lifetime occurrence being that February is Perth’s (traditionally) hottest Summer month with little to no rain and we not only received record breaking low temperatures but record breaking amounts of water drop from the sky!!!

We had a heap of fun this day and I wanted that to be somewhat obvious on the page and I think I achieved it!

I did pull in some alpha’s from my stash but otherwise everything is from the Something Wonderful range!

And you can see in the background here (and all over the paint in the background actually!) that I have used the Heidi Swapp “Maze Art” Art Screen and the Silver Art Screen Ink and I love how it looks! This product is so different to anything else I have ever used!

I hope you like my share today and I look forward to seeing your take on this months moodboard and where it takes you!!

Until then, happy scrapping!!

{ScrappingClearly} The Great Bunny Trap 2016 ~ March Sketch Challenge

Hello, hello crafty friends, I’m here with you today sharing another page I have made with the gorgeous and super versatile Teresa Collins Something Wonderful collection from ScrappingClearly!

Today I am also working with the March sketch which looks like this if you have not yet seen it!

This sketch was a little out of my norm but I had fun making it and came up with the idea of using a cut file in a circular shape in the background and using the Black Wood paper for my background.

Here is my completed page

As you can see I have backed all of the open hearts with patterned paper and for the majority of the hearts I have used up my left over off cuts from my 6×6 paper pad so very little waste!!

I used some vellum from my stash to cover the open middle of the heart wreath, attached one side of the wreath and trimmed the excess off to attach to the other side and love how it looks!

With all that detail in the wreath I didn’t want to add too much to completely take over so I haven’t too much! I started by adding a strip from the Cards 12×12 paper and also a strip of washi tape under the photos as a grounding strip for the photos and to represent the chevrons/arrows on the sketch.

I used a couple of off cuts (again from my 6×6 paper pad) as layers behind my photo and popped up the photo on the left with some craft foam.

I’ve used some of the alphas from the Alpha and Label stickers sheet for most of my title and pulled out those fun black and white stripped alphas from my stash for the BUNNY in the title. But first I added a really quick, light layer of white gesso to blend out the background paper a little.

I’ve added a couple more strips of the washi, some of the label stickers, a bunch of the brads, the 5 from the ephemera pack, some of the buttons and a chipboard piece from the chipboard stickers

To finish off my page I used some Roadbase Colour Spray by Colour Blast to add some sprinkles, added in my journalling (a little different from the sketch but that is part of the wonderful thing about sketches, they are a great jumping off point!), a date stamp and a couple of little phrases in 2 places.

If you would like to see my whole page come together you can see the process video simply by clicking play below!!

This is the second “The Great Bunny Trap” page I have created as this is a family tradition which when this Easter happens will have happened for 6 years so I thought that for a little continuity I would run with the same title but change it up each year! If you would like to see my 1st “Great Bunny Trap” page click here and it will take you to my post!!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by. Make sure you get your entries in for your chance at an awesome store voucher from Kylie!!

Happy scrapping!

{ScrappingClearly} WK 4 and Back to School

Hello lovely, scrappy friends, Melinda here with you today sharing a couple of Project Life spreads I have put together using the beautiful Teresa Collins Something Wonderful range which you can find here in store!

I have done 2 different layouts with this range and as you can see it is so versatile it can be used for everyday photos or can be boy or girl themed or even good for back to school photos in my case 😉

Just as a side note, for 2017 I have decided to be a little more “relaxed” about HOW our PL pages are done. Better done and in the album than still waiting to happen so some of my weeks will be just single pagers and others will be a standard double and some will even have multiple inserts but for this week I have 1 12×12 pocket page and I love how it all came together AND so easily!

Here is our week 4.

All of the background squares are cut from the 6×6 paper pad and I have used a mix of the ephemera, alpha and label stickers, decorative stickerschipboard stickers and enamel dots as accents.

The middle row, right hand side is actually a flip pocket and here is the photo underneath and the journalling on the back of the flip.

And lastly, for this page, our title card. I tend to always start a PL spread with the title card, it gives me an idea of colours, textures and patterns I would like to include for the whole spread.

So, that is our week 4, done and dusted and in our album!! #woohoo

The next double page (which is actually a front and back of a page protector) spans 2 weeks as one of my boys went back to school week 5 and the other week 6 but to keep it simple I have just done back to back.

The front of said insert 🙂 My big boy off to his first day of year 2!

And some close up’s of the detail

Some ephemera pieces, a chipboard piece, a sticker and some enamel shapes.

Some more stickers and enamel dots

Almost every time, without fail, if I get these 2 in the frame together I get silly. I have come to accept this and embrace it for what it is. Sure enough, in years to come I will be lucky to get a look at their faces through the camera. But this photo overlay, also from the same collection was just PERFECT!! Love deeply, Laugh out loud, Live passionately and that sums up these 2 in so few words.

And here is the back

And my baby, off to Kindy. There may have been tears. And not from him! I think his grin says it all but he was so excited! All papers again are from the 6×6 paper pad except that 3×4 card with the map and “the story” which came from the cut apart 12×12 paper.

And a few close ups

A piece of washi, some chipboard, some ephemera pieces (that heart was cut from a bigger card in the pack) and again, enamel dots.

I mimicked the design from the front, so some stickers and enamel dots.

And again, a sticker, a chipboard piece and a piece from the ephemera pack.

I didn’t take a close up of it but the bottom photo on the right hand side has another overlay on it. A heart with “so happy” – all because he WANTED to hold his Mummy’s hand all the way to school – what a sook I am!! Hahaha!!

So, as you can see, this collection is super versatile and so fun to work with!

I hope that you are inspired to capture some of your own memories, in whichever form works for you!

Happy scrapping, until next time!

Melinda
