Scrap The Boys | November 2018 | You + Me | A Scrapbook Layout

Hey, hey and happy November! Oh my goodness, yes I wrote that correctly, November!!! How?! Dear time, please slow down!

Ok, now I am breathing again today I am here to share my first DT make for the month and it is, of course, for Scrap The Boys.

Do you love the simplicity of this?! And the fact that perhaps you have a photo of one of your guys with you or another loved girl that you have permission to use this month?!? Haha! I decided months ago, when this photo was taken (in June!) that I was using this photo for this challenge and here is my page!

I have used another of the awesome cut files designed by Gwen over at CUT to YOU. In fact, it was one I used on a page I shared just last week but looks very different today! You can pick up the digi version here and the custom cut here.

I have a process video up if you’re keen to see how this page came together just click on the play button below.

And a shameless plug for myself – I have set myself a goal to reach 1000 subbies by end of year so if you are not yet a subbie I would for you to head on over to my YT channel and hit that subscribe button if you like what you have seen today!

Ok, now back to the page! A photo of hubby and I all dressed up and celebrating the “end” of the fire season.

I’ve used my Kuetake Gansai Tambi water colours to colour the heart (and if you watch the process video you will see that my end design is NOT what I had planned to start with – see it morph lol!) and matched the colours as best I could to the gorgeous Vicki Boutin All The Good Things collection as I knew I wanted to embellish with that range.

I’ve used a few ephemera flowers and a couple of the paper clip thingies and I really love how this page ended up!

Here are a couple more close ups.

I hope I have inspired you to play along with the November challenge at Scrap The Boys and remember to head over the STB blog to check out the amazing work from the rest of the team and to load up your own entry!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{Colour Blast} Us ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey Colour Blasters and welcome to the blog today! I have a pretty share for you today – something somewhat different for me but today I am scrapping an older photo of me and one of my besties so went pretty!! Here’s a little sneaky peek 😉

And, of course, there is a process video right here so grab a cuppa and enjoy!

I have used this month’s challenge as inspiration and if you have not yet seen it here it is!

And here are my step-by-steps!

A quick, light coat of White Heavy Gesso across my whole 12×12 white cardstock background. By the time I had cleaned up my spatula and work surface the gesso was dry!

I have 2 tubs of white gesso on the go at once – one is thicker than the other. To get your gesso to thicken up just leave it with the lid off while you create your next page and keep doing that until you get the desired consistency! However, I digress, I used my thicker White Heavy Gesso to apply through a stencil on my background. I taped off the parts of the stencil I didn’t want the gesso to go through. This I left to dry overnight – I didn’t want it to bubble and have the really textured, grungy look.

The next day I used a pipette to add some Colour Shimmer Spray’s to a palette to make easy water colouring. I have used Punch, Sunshine and Tangereen Dream (to fit in with this months challenge).

I then added the colour randomly to my dried stencilling in patches, letting the colours blend a little together so I didn’t get any harsh lines. I did dry after each colour to prevent the colours from completely blending together and really like the pretty background I have managed to create. I, of course, also added splatters in the same colours but keeping them pretty close in and small.

When that was all dry it was time to add all my layers and photo. I have primarily used the Vicki Boutin All The Good Things range because I knew there were birds in the ephemera pack and I love all the colours!

After my camera was turned off I added a few extra pieces including the torn edge on the left hand side and some black and white phrases.

With those pops of black I also watered down a little Black Heavy Gesso and added some little splatters with a paint brush and 3 big splatters on the vertical where most of my design is. It’s not very common for me to not have anything to say on my pages but for this one I felt those word/phrase stickers were enough and said what I wanted to say so I’m calling it done!

And a last couple of close up’s – my little birdies!!

And my final page

You have until the end of the month to get your challenge entries in so head over here for the album and have a look around the group for lots of inspiration from the other girls on the DT but also from all of the other Colour Blast fans in the group!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

{ScrappingClearly} This Made Me Laugh ~ Scrapbook Layout

Hi there, today I’m here with my take on the very fun May 2017 mood board for ScrappingClearly. This was also designed by the very talented Peg and after much deliberation I came up with a fun page that I am really happy with!

First up, the mood board

And here is the page I created

This is a photo of hubby from our honeymoon (back in 2008) and one of the King Prawns we enjoyed at one of the places we ate out at. I chose this photo because I really wanted to challenge myself to somehow incorporate that fish!! Easy enough to run with the colours but man that fish stumped me for a while! My mind started wandering and wandered right along to this exact photo and the story I wanted to tell that goes along with it. My husband DOES NOT eat prawns!! Haha! But this night I think between the 2 of us we ate 2 or possibly 3 of these King Prawns and we both loved them!

Here you can see all that messy fun in the background!! I love how it came together and I used the awesomely cool and fun Scribble Sticks by Dina Wakely in Ruby, Tangerine, Lemon and Night. These things, if nothing else, are super fun to work with. I watched another scrappers tutorial process video which gave me a couple of ideas but I did play a bit too to get the feel of how best they work! And indeed, dipping the scribble stick into some water and scribbling onto the page was the best way to get a vibrant colour!
Oh, and I did apply a quick coat of white gesso to help the colours move.

I’ve also used some of the fun watercolour stickers by Vicki Boutin, the arrows and the word Laugh. Love how they came out, however, a heads up, don’t add LOTS of water, the paper will pill up!! Lesson learned 😉

I have used the gorgeous Teresa Collins Nine & Co range for all my embellishing and all the paper layers. Oh, and that cute camera paper clip by American Crafts.

There is a process video for this page, just click below and enjoy!

That’s it for me for today, so have fun and remember you still have a little over a week to get your entries in for both the sketch and the mood board challenges!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Melinda
