{Stash} K+ April Challenge ~ Recipe Challenge ~ Details

Hello scrappy friends!! A super quick share for you today of my entry for the April 2018 K+ Challenge!ย

This one was lots of fun and I really love my end result!ย

I am going to give credit right now where credit is due! For my “something borrowed” I have borrowed 2 ideas! One idea I saw on Scrapaholics Anon by Hollie Heyenga – I’ll try to link her page here! And I also borrowed the idea of the big flip on the right hand side from one of my newest YT crushes Corrie Jones and the page I got inspiration from was here.

Old: Papers (especially that blue spot one – one of my all time faves that I have been hoarding) and of course the whole idea of the wedding, after all we just celebrated our 10th anniversary! Oh, and a couple of punches!
New: Vicky Boutin Art Crayons and also a brand new Distress Crayon in Stormy Sky – the ever popular smooshing technique and of course, splatters ๐Ÿ˜‰ and also those fun gold and wood alphas
Borrowed: The journalling idea and the page design – links above!
Blue: Paper and mixed media

Here are a few close ups!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

{Colour Blast} Beautiful ~ A Scrapbook Page

Hey, hey scrappy friends!! It’s Melinda here with you today sharing not only my latest DT make but also my take on the awesome October challenge!

Here’s a bit of a sneaky peek and a little secret, this page is NOTHING like what I thought I was going to make!! But I love it!

So, if you have missed it here is the October challenge….TRIANGLES! I don’t know why but I just LOVE triangles so was very excited when I saw this challenge this month!

However, that is enough chatter and here are my step-by-steps

I chose a cut file and cut that on my cameo and then I chose the ephemera packs and 1 piece of patterned paper I was going to use and trimmed up my cut file – those flowers just were not going to work!ย

From the patterned paper I picked the colours I wanted to use and not knowing exactly where this page was going I grabbed the Colour Shimmer Spray, the Colour Paste and the Colour Shimmer Pots in the colours I wanted to use – Blush, Punch and Deep Water. And at the last minute, Steel.

With my colours chosen and the cut file and photo ready to go I grabbed my White Heavy Gesso and used my fingers to spread a thin layer across the page where I knew I wanted my page design. I let that dry naturally which did not take long since the layer was so thin.

Time to add some more colour!! I started with the lightest colour – Blush – Colour Shimmer Cube, grabbed a paint brush and some packaging and added some colour randomly to my back ground. I ended up just using a wet brush and moved the colour around using that and the packaging together to get the look I was after.

I repeated the same process with Punch – again using a Colour Shimmer Cube, let that dry thoroughly and then the same process again with Deep Water – this time using my Colour Shimmer Spray (I haven’t been able to get my hands on the Colour Shimmer Cube yet!!! Argh!!). I let the Deep Water dry naturally – it was dinner time – and was super happy with the dried result.

Next up some splatters – again I used the 3 matching colours in the same products and a paint brush. I added Blush and Punch splatters to the pink areas and Deep Water to the blue-y areas. At the last minute I decided to sprinkle some Steel Colour Shimmer Cube around as well just to bring that silvery colour to the page.

I surprised myself and stopped here with the colour – I really loved how it was looking and didn’t want to go over the top! I added in some shadows to the cut file with a black water colour pencil.ย

Some foam to mount my cut file that had been backed with the paper and my photo. Oh and some silver stitching along the triangles. A couple of very small embellishments and my page was done!ย

I am super pleased with how this came together and since it is another wedding photo I haven’t added a date or any journalling as I just wanted to scrap this photo!!

Here are a few close ups!

Check out the shimmer in these photo’s, oh la la!!

You still have about 10 days to get your entries in for the October challenge – just enter them in this album on the FB page – and your chance to win a voucher to spend on some fun Colour Blast goodies so make some time to play!!

You can also check out my whole process on the YT channel but here is the link to watch it right now, in your browser!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

{Colour Blast} Sweet Moments ~ Another Wedding Layout

Hey fellow Colour Blast lovers, I’m here with you today with a mostly clean and simple layout!!

I will start by saying that my mojo has kinda been off on a little holiday this week (not sure what that’s about!!) but when I was looking through some photos a week ago I came across the one I have used for this layout and because it was so BIG I thought it was a great way to get scrapping without the pressure of so much “stuff”!!

So, I am scrapping another of my wedding photos today and as I mentioned it is BIG – like 8″ x 12″ big so it takes up a lot of real estate on my page. A little embellishing, a title and a little pop of colour!

First up I started by prepping my chippy with some white heavy gesso. As 2 of these pieces had already had some product put on them one needed 3 coats and the other needed 2 but they came up nice and white and ready for a new layer of colour ๐Ÿ˜‰

I set my chippy aside to dry and did the little work on my background that I knew I wanted to do.ย

I grabbed my (current fave!!) Blush Colour Shimmer Pot, a wide-ish brush, my craft mat and a little water and applied some colour to my craft mat and mixed with a little water (my brush was a little too big to fit in the pot and mix easily).ย

I then applied wide brush strokes both at the bottom of the white cardstock background and also at the top of where I knew my photo was going to be.ย

With some of the left over colour on my mat I did some sprinkles.

I popped my background to the side so I could finish off my chippy. I decided to use the gorgeous Blush and Punch Colour Embossing Powders. The title got the Punch while the flourish got the punch. These colours are so, so pretty and my current faves!!

After that was all dry it was time to stick it all together. I used a partial white doily at the top of the photo and applied all my chippy with my wet adhesive directly to the photo.ย

I just loved how that looked! As a very final touch I have added some punched gold glitter hearts in 2 places and then I called the page done.

I love how this came together and it has given me some of my missing mojo back. I hope to do a little more scrapping tonight in fact ๐Ÿ˜‰ Maybe if your mojo has gone walkies, grab a big photo or one that really inspires you and just have a play!

Thank you, as always, for stopping and see you again soon!

An idea inspired by Missy Whidden

Hi there friends!!

As the title suggests I am here today sharing a layout I was inspired to create after watching this Missy Whidden video! I love, love, love how that paper turned out with the white paint and all the fun colour added so I took inspiration from that and pulled out a paper I had 2 of that I was happy toย sacrifice (in case it didnt turn out!!), some white acrylic paint and some gelatos!ย

Here is the paper, bare, in progess and as butterflies!

And I decided to use 3 of them on another wedding layout! Another has made it’s way onto an art journal page and I think that leaves me 1 or 2 to find homes for!

And a couple of close ups

I used the beautiful Snow White Colour Paste by Colour Blast in the background and the bling shimmer spray and snow white for splatters ๐Ÿ™‚

The title is from Dusty Attic and I just heat embossed that with the gorgeous bling embossing powder from Colour Blast as well.

The papers are all from my stash – I have a box of supplies put aside for wedding layouts and when I feel inspired I’ll pull out product and photos from there and create yet another page for our album.

Just a super quick share for today, my life is currently going a million miles an hour, which is apparently what adulthood/parenthood is all about!!

I hope you get some scrappy time in this weekend and I hope that between myself and the very talented Missy I hope you are tempted to just have a play with what you have in your stash!!

Love You Always

Hi there and welcome to my blog! Today I am sharing my take on the inspiration piece for Scrappingclearly for this month!! And, isn’t it just gorgeous!!

As soon as I saw this I KNEW I had to dig into my stash of wedding photo’s (from 2008 I may add ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) as my colours were pink, black and white for our big day!! I picked one of my most fave shots from when we headed to the beach with the photographer and the bridal party.

Here is my completed layout and I have used the GORGEOUS Maggie Holmes Bloom collection to put this together!

First thing, a very little bit of mixed media using Heidi Swapp Primrose colour shine mixed with some texture paste and applied through a stencil. And, of course a few sprinkles of both the pink and gold colour shine. I let that dry and got to work on the rest of my layout.

I layered up the paper, Adore, behind my photo, used a doily from my stash and cut a piece from that beautiful printed vellum (which I gutted the middle of because it just seemed wasteful for it to be hiding behind all those other layers). I also wanted to incorporate a piece of black and white striped paper which I pulled from my stash from another Maggie collection and again, gutted the middle of that to use both on another layout and also as a layer behind my photo.

And here are some close ups

Over the course of iNSD a couple of weekends ago I purchased a few new cut files and pre-cut them on my cameo with white cardstock which I then embossed with gold glitter embossing powder from my stash. This one came from Just Nick and when I picked this photo I knew this was going to be the title paired with those gorgeous glitter thickers also from the Bloom collection which you can get here in the store.

I have used a couple of the florals from the ephemera pack, they are just so pretty! And, I’m sure like EVERYONE else that has received the beautiful Flutter paper, I also fussy cut some of those gorgeous butterflies (and just quietly, I so love the butterflies and that gorgeous wood grain a couple more pieces may have jumped into my cart without me realising!!) to spread across the page.

I also received these super, shiny, pretty sequins by Studio Calico and couldn’t wait to get them onto a page!! It’s a bit hard to see in my photo’s but prior to sticking the butterflies down I took them to my sewing machine and did a couple of back and forward straight lines and a quick zig zag too with some gold thread.

I really love the simplicity of this little cluster. I used some of that vellum that I had gutted and attached those gorgeous pink and gold glitter letters from the ephemera pack – I just love, love, love the range of shapes and all the different pieces that come in these packs! I added another butterfly and a couple of sequins. As you can see here I also did a simple straight stitch all the way around the border of the white card stock just to pull it all together and for another small detail.

So, that’s my take of that gorgeous inspiration piece for this month! Make sure you have a play along and either link up to the blog or the album in the facebook group for your chance to win an awesome prize!!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

Hello, hello!! Well, it seems even though my desk currently looks like a bomb hit it I am being super productive lately!!

I have just completed another 12×12 layout – start to finish in 30 minutes – AMAZING!! I may add some stitching, but I will decide later!!

I am here today however to share a different 12×12 LO I created, another for our wedding album and another using an awesome cut file from The Cut Shoppe. I am using this to enter a 2nd time into their monthly challenge for August! Perhaps there will even be a 3rd as I am pretty impressed with my forethought when I created this LO!!

As you can see when I cut the file “Spread Your Wings” I put it pretty much where I thought I wanted it to be on the layout so that I could use the positive cut and the negative cut! I am really pleased with how this turned out and am really excited to use those butterflies on something!!

I found some of the same frangipani printed vellum in my stash that we used on some of our wedding stationery and chopped it down to fit behind that cut. Love how it turned out!!

After I stuck the vellum down I placed the cut butterflies back into where they were cut from so that I could stick down all the little in between cuts. That is probably what took the longest in putting this LO together.

I have used the Maggie Holmes Flea Market 6×6 paper pad for my layers behind the photo along with the black and white striped fabric frame from the same range. All of the paper layers expect the floral are actually the strip from along the top of the papers that kept them in place in the paper pad!

I kept the embellishing pretty simple, I wanted the photo and that cut to be where your eye goes to first and foremost. I didn’t really have anything to say with this photo so a simple title and somewhere for one of my fave wedding photos to call home now!!

So, thank you for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

There is Always Time For Fun

Hi hi!!

Just popped in quickly today to share the 3rd of the 3 layouts I created using the prompts from my little boxes ๐Ÿ™‚

The prompts I pulled were 12×12 layout, machine stitching, die cuts, plastic stamping, stencils, mists and a collection kit.

Another ย layout for our wedding album

So, the machine stitching, die cuts and plastic stamping are pretty obvious!! I used the mists to colour the heart die cuts and have also added the same colour SU marker’s to the clear matte gel paste I used for the stencil work. The collection kit I used was the only whole unopened collection kit I own which is the Bella Blvd Daily Chevies kit. I even used some of the 12×12 papers for the layers behind my photo.

I pulled some tiny word stickers, a black doily and a mix of thickers and little alpha stickers from my stash.

I had a heap of fun putting this together!! It has been a little while since I pulled some prompts so it must be almost time for me to pull some more! I have been busy doing lots of copic colouring and slowly catching up on our PL album. I realy, really hope to share some more PL pages here but I need to take some more photos and edit etc so fingers crossed, soon!!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

Some wedding layouts!!

Hello there and welcome to my blog!!

Today I am sharing some 12×12 LO’s that I have recently put together of our wedding from 2008. Yup, only 7 years behind but I now feel confident enough to play with 12×12 layouts!! So all up there are 10 pages in our album and over the last month or so I have pulled 7 together!!

I will add here that a little while ago I pulled bits and pieces from my stash for a “wedding kit” which lives in it’s own separate little box so I have some idea what I have to hand to work in with the colours that I have chosen – well the colours that our wedding used ๐Ÿ˜‰ Pink, grey/silver, black and white. My current style also begged to have a few pops of gold and teal thrown in!! And I am also more than happy to use other bits from stash. I used this video from Shimelle Laine as a guide to pulling a kit together if you are interested in pulling your own kit together for either a special occasion or just get your stash used!

I will share them in order of creation starting with this page I pulled together for a NSD challenge I participated in over at the Scrappy Canary VIP Lounge FB group.

This is a photo of my 2 beautiful niece’s immediately after out ceremony sharing a little bonding moment as 2 cousins that had only met a few days prior.

And a couple of close ups

Next up is this layout that I scrap lifted from the amazingly talented Fiona Paltridge from this video on YouTube. This layout took me a few days to complete doing a bit here and bit there but I LOVE the way it turned out!! So happy with it!!ย

This layout took me completely out of my comfort zone – so many new things to try but like I said, LOVE how it turned out!!

And a few close ups

Next up are 2 layouts I created on a scrapbooking retreat I recently went to. Both were for challenges – one was a kit challenge – full of delicious Bella Blvd Colour Chaos goodies and the other was a colour challenge. Again, I’m really very happy with how both of these turned out!!

Both of these were inspired, again, by Shimelle Laine – I just adore her style and her classes! The 1st was inspired by a class called Hitchhickers Guide to Scrapbooking and one of the “starting points” she talked about. This was the kit challenge.

And a few close ups

And the 2nd from retreat was inspired by this “Glitter Girl” (aka Shimelle Laine) video.

Again, I’m really happy with how this one turned out too!!

Here are a few close ups

I just adore that Charms Creation heart – simply beautiful!!

And onto the last 3 layouts which again, were inspired by Shimelle Laine – this time her brand new class Ready Steady Scrapbook. I will share these in class order – so class 1 will be 1st, class 2 2nd and class 3 3rd ๐Ÿ™‚

And a couple of close ups

Class 2

And some close ups

And class 3

And I think this is my most fave of the 3 from the class! I love, love, love that the design is so simple and that those beautiful papers that I was “saving for that special page” are totally on display and used!!

A few close up’s of this one too and I’m done!!

So, that is it for me for today!!

I hope you have liked seeing what I have been working on and now our album is starting to look a bit more full!!

If you are looking for some fun and easy classes I honestly cannot recommend Shimelle’s classes highly enough!! Full of great information and lots and lots of ideas!!

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy scrapping!!

And just a couple of close ups of this cute little fairy ๐Ÿ™‚ย

I don’t know if you have noticed but I think my colouring has improved a heap and would like to give full credit to Alyce over at Kit and Clowder!! She colours her images in such an amazing way and I am totally in love with everything she does!! And she has the best video tutorials!!

I’m also sharing a sneaky peek of a wedding card I worked on earlier in the week – a sneak peek cause the wedding is tomorrow and I want the bride and groom to see it before sharing it in full ๐Ÿ™‚

Well Happy Thursday to all of you my lovely blog readers and I hope to back early next week with some more completed Project Life pages ๐Ÿ™‚
